  1. Hangbelly lures has just been added
  2. Group hug, GROUP HUG!
  3. I haven't kept up on the latest developments, but I believe that there are filters available that will cut through smog pretty well. That isn't the major problem however. The biggest issue with urban astronomy is that the light pollution illuminates the dust particles in the atmosphere, and I doubt that any filter will cut through that. Extra light gathering capability will help pick out stars, go for the width of the objective end over magnification. Magnification is no good if there isn't a lot of light to work with.
  4. Yep, they're early, unopened, fern fronds. Not for me though, veggies and I don't get along too well, all the water and fibre aggravate my IBS. But they are popular, here's a Wikipedia story about fiddleheads. Looking at pictures you can see how they got their nickname.
  5. "Fritz, der Britishers iss gettink desparate!"
  6. Just asked Dad, yep, the Short Sunderland had a regular old anchor up in the bow, near the nose gun turret. But you're out of luck, he didn't manage to liberate any when he left.
  7. You're a cruel man Steve, picking on perch that have just been booted out of a Weight Watchers class.
  8. Oh, those cahraaaaazeeee Belgians!
  9. Great, now you've got all of us drooling on our keyboards! Looks like a fair sized bite mark on that one. Pike?
  10. Oh yeah? Dad flew these with the RAF Coastal Command, I'll ask him...
  11. Coffee all over my keyboard!
  12. I don't mind if vegetarians take me to task for fishing, at least by giving up meat they have the courage of their convictions. The ones who have no right are those people who happily buy a steak or chicken at the supermarket and then decry hunting. Phonies, no other word for it. They are paying someone at a slaughterhouse to do the dirty work they won't do themselves. If they'll admit they can't bring themselves to do it, that's fine by me, just don't pick on those who do. I hate phonies with a passion.
  13. I was with you up to that point. I haven't seen any evidence that it will clear up society's problems. I've seen the bumper sticker that say "Kids who fish, hunt, and trap, don't grow up to mug little old ladies", or something like that. No, some of them grow up like Eric Rudolph, who killed 2 people with a bomb at the Atlanta Olympics. Disturbed individuals will find a way to vent their anger if they aren't raised properly, and there are plenty of good people who have never indulged in outdoor activities.
  14. Probably the only way to resolve the argument is to have a period, say 5 years, during which it is year-round open season on bass, with catch and release only until post-spawn. Population counts would be done at regular intervals, and the idea would be scrapped, retained, or adjusted as necessary.
  15. Well, I guess that helps!
  16. I love both dawn and sunset, but it may be because those are both such lovely times of day whether you're fishing or not. Wetting a line is just gravy. But they are also the times when the water is often still, and since I love topwater action it's the best time for watching a popper get engulfed. This is totally unrelated to the topic, but I loved this one on the same page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzKQkLfz2_Q&feature=related
  17. Found this one the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCgK7scLft8&list=PL4477C43B1104E9BE&index=5&feature=plpp_video
  18. The F-15 Stealth Eagle would be a much better choice in my opinion. A proven airframe, cheaper, heavier weapons load, longer range, and twin-engined reliability, which might be a consideration given our vast northern areas. Better looking too.
  19. I accept the scientific evidence for global warming, and that it's probably man-made. But it's hard to say if this year is a result of it. As far as I know it's also an El Niño year, which is a semi-regular occurrence.
  20. Beautiful! You 2 year-old will be like a little mother, ours was like that with our son. She'll be very helpful and wanting to get involved. Let her, it will be a great experience for her and will make you both happy.
  21. Dear Cleveland Browns ticket office...
  22. Excellent, thank you for the official clarification!
  23. Yeah, like hoping he didn't have a fight with his wife that morning.
  24. Don't think so either, but I would like to be certain. I definitely wouldn't want hooks dangling over the side of the boat even if they're not in the water, better to remove them to be safe.
