Hope you live close to Gander Mountain so you can still pop in to get your gear when your local shop goes teats up because too many people chased "the Gander mountain deal" too many times? Oh wait they are in the USA aren't they????? Nothing personal but felt a need to make a point.

I will say it again,the boat you choose should be based primarily on "how you fish".Tin or glass? well both have pro's/cons,glass is more $ and prone to getting dinged up,tin can develop leaks whether welded or rivited.It was stated to avoid a glass bass boat due to rough ride,well this is dependant on the driver and the model/hull design,some ride much smoother than others in waves but because of the ability to custom form glass that can't be done with aluminum a tin boat can't touch a glass boat (one of the smooth running one's,some makes are bad in chop) for ride quality.When comparing fuel consuption base it on MPG because glass is more efficent in water a bigger engine say 150 may not use hardly anymore gas than a 115 on tin.The walk through boats are poor fishing choices as they have small decks and are a pain to walk through,good consoles offer decent wind protection.If your on the trolling motor alot high side's are a big negative,a draw back to multi-spiecie boats.

With the advent of braid and much heavier spinning rods now available a big advantage of baitcasters has been negated 1/handle large baits,line 2/horse big fish outta cover.BUT the single biggest advantage still exists and that is lure control,you can put it right on the money when target fishing.Yes I know some guys are good with spinning for hitting docks etc. I've flipped/pitched,did docks etc with them but it still won't compare to the acurate soft water entry of a baitcaster.

Hummm... different ways of seeing things but I would look at it this way.Consider the type of fishing you do the most ie. do you pitch/flip LM? Shoals for smallies?Multi-specie decks are not well suited to LM fishing due to being low in the boat with high gunnels so you catch alot of free board wind and don't have nearly as good of a vantage point to fish from.Once you decide the type of boat for how you like to fish then look at where/type of water.A glass boat will run chop smoother and be more stable to fish from than tin and a 20' glass boat will be better on fuel due to better hydrodymanics and handle most any rough water you actually would want to fish w/ a TM or drift through.

Ted you are right about your engine fuel system,I am just referring to gas tanks being left empty or close to it.I agree you won't have a water problem with any higher oct. that doesn't contain ethanol but if you filled your tanks even with ethanol gas you would be ok with water because there would be little to no air transfer to absorb atmospheric moisture.The problem with filling the tank is that even with stabilizer the gas may degrade over winter and worst case you have laquer/gumming from it,but the one thing that will occur for sure is a drop in it's octane rating which could spell disaster for your engine in the spring due to pre-detonation due to low octane.

Well we are talking about winter storage,during this period relative humidity is very low (% of moisture in air) and yes I realize you have open gas vents but there is not a lot of air transfer and with no gas nothing to absorb mositure from it so it's just condensation that can leave water but this only occurs when the air is much warmer than the object and that just doesn't happen enough in winter to become an issue.

A few general items to add,if you have a water presure gauge disconnect the hose at back or gauge may freeze and die.Add enviro friendly antifreeze to your livewell,bilge area and make sure your livewell drains are left open.Jack trailer up so weight is off tires & leaf springs,it will prevent a flat spot on tires and keep springs from going soft over time.If you have efi/dfi you can mix extra 2 stroke oil in gas (pull gas line and use 1gal tank if you have full fuel tank) last time out just before shutting it down to better protect bearings/crank along with the stabilizer since you can't fog the front of these.WD 40 all wire connections on boat/powerhead and spots on trailer prone to rust and grease all engine fittings/wheel bearings as this will push out any water present.Personally I have run my tank almost empty and will store this way as I believe it is better way to go,see copy of another site post below regarding chance of condensation forming in a plastic/fiberglass builtin tank,saves you come spring having a full tank of ???? octane gas due to fuel degradation (yes even with stabilizer). Just my 2 cents Here's a good argument against the " fill er up " theory. Based on a 200 gallon tank. The new reformulated gas breaks down a lot quicker, especially with the added ethanol. You have more to worry about with that than any condensation. "Frequently we hear it said that the cause of water in fuel tanks is due to condensation. I have long doubted this assertion but the issue has come up so frequently that I was finally motivated to try prove to the point. The basis of my belief or assumption is that: There isn't enough air volume within a tank to hold much vapor. On average, tanks are half full, further reducing volume The amount of water vapor in air is very small, even at 100% humidity Conditions aren't right to cause condensation in a fuel tank Research produced the following values for the maximum amount of liquid water in air at the following temperatures: 30C/86F 30 grams/cubic meter 20C/50F 17 grams/cubic meter 10C/13F 9 grams/cubic meter There are 28 grams per ounce, so 30 grams = 1.07 oz; 17 grams = 0.6428 oz. A cubic meter equals 264 gallons of liquid volume, therefore: A 200 gallon tank = 0.76 cubic meter. At 86F, an empty 200 gallon tank could contain 22.8 grams of water vapor, or 0.81 oz. At 50F, an empty 200 gallon tank could contain 12.92 grams of water vapor, or 0.46 oz. Note that this is the maximum amount of water vapor that a completely empty tank could contain, in neither case a full ounce of water

Don't try and fog the front half!!! Injectors will get messed up from the oil. Take a small jug of gas w/stabilizer in it and mix oil @ 50-1,disconnect your gas line and run the egine off the jug oil.This combined with your oil injection 50-1 ratio will give you a 25-1 mix which will oil your crank and bearings nicely,then spray fogging oil in your plug holes and turn engine over for a few seconds with the kill switch disconnected.Your power head is done

Nice set-up,you will like that rude.60* head v-6 was the best engine OMC ever made,they are bullet proof and torquey as ****.I ran one a used one for 5yrs and besides a starter in it's 15th yr had zero problems and great compression.What model is that 373?

For the saltwater,shrimp from shore,for largies hands down get some jumbo shiners (about$12 a dozen ykes!!) and balloons,blow em up the size of a small baseball and free line them hooked with a big circle hook in front of the dorsal fin.Let them swim under the Hychinths and hang on!!

To ad to a previous post today,I copied this from another website post,it clearly explains the fear of actual water seperation in tanks is unfounded,yes ethanol inhanced fuels may absorbe atmospheric moisture but unless close too 100% absorbsion resulting in water representing a high percentage of the total volume going through injectors and causing a lean condition/or washing oil from crank, there is nothing to worry about.As the read indicates it would take a VERY long time drawing mositure from the air to cause seperation. I did some looking around and this comment I found sums up all of the infomation, that I thought was based on any kind of real study, showed. "The EPA produced a report on the chances of phase separation in oxygenated fuels. If the only source of water is from moisture in the air, it is highly unlikely to have it happen due to the long period of time required. "For example, at a constant temperature of 100 degrees F and relative humidity of 100%, it would take well over 200 days to saturate one gallon of gasoline in an open gasoline can (assuming the only source of water is water vapor from the air). Water absorption from the air is far slower at lower temperatures and humidities. (At a temperature of 70 degrees and relative humidity of 70%, it would take over two years to saturate one gallon of conventional gasoline in the same gasoline can.) Again, oxygenated gasolines can hold more water than conventional gasoline, and would therefore take much longer to saturate with water."" Personally I have had E10 gas that sat for 6 months that did not seem to have a problem. I think a lot is blamed on E10 that is unfounded in any scientific testing.

either welded or riveted is fine IF you buy a highend boat quality wise.A high quality rivet boat is far better than a lower quality welded.I have ran glass for years but if I was buying tin it would be an Alumacraft or a Lund or Lund or Alumacraft...... well you get the idea,about the 2 best tin boats made period.Learn who makes the best tin and buy accordingly. -

Amsoil!!!! for the price why wouldn't you? I won't load your plugs,smokes less and has higher lubricity.It has been proven in high rpm engines time and again (10K+ rpm).You won't get ring wear and no not all oil is created equal.
