Same thing happened to me last year, I had to stop and tap it 3 times then it stayed on? I check them once in a awhile, not sure why they are the correct size. If they keep coming off try another one? and carry an extra just incase it does come off.....

Sounds like its just a 10hr inspection I don't think it would take long or cost anything. The only thing I recommend on the etec is do you lower gear oil in the 75-100hr range I just did mine it looks good(very small amount of metal on the magnets) but I think it would be a lot worse at 300hrs.

I've bought some stuff from there(prop, seat base, oil & a few other small things) I was happy with their service.

A 2006-2007 Cherokee with the 4.7 could be found for a good deal and can tow up to 6500#s. Also a newer 08-10 Jeep liberty can tow 3500#s(aftermarket hitch), 5000#s(tow package from factory) with sliglhty lower costs then a Cherokee. Examples of Hemi costs vs 06-07 4.7,The 4.7 is easier to DYI. Hemi your looking at 16 spark plugs, quadadrive would be more expensive to repair then quadratrac II. As mentioned maintenance is key.

I repack almost twice a year, even with bearing buddies I always check my seals any sign of grease coming out of the seal I repack & inspect. Also good idea to carry an extra pregreased hub, spare tire + tools just in case. Better safe then sorry. The main cause to grease leaking out of the seal is high speed then launching in cold water. I try to avoid but in most cases I can only wait a few minutes before launching:)

Both boat and car are full of Shell 91 and stabilizer, learned the lesson the $$$ way 6 years ago I left sunoco 94 in the car for 9 months the fuel turned into varish and killed my Aeromotive external fuel pump luckily the injectors where ok.. never had an issue since switching to shell 91 and its stored even more often now.

Ever Manufacture has their issues so far my 06 75hp etec has 80hrs 350 starts no issues. My next boat will have another etec on it unless a deal comes a long that I can't pass up.

Exact thing just happened to me, but fortunately I had another plate(from my old trailer) so I went to the MTO paid the $10 and transferred it over at least I can go fishing this wknd, will do the police report when I have time.

Thinking of finally getting a small hp outboard for trolling, looking at the honda 2hp pricey for a 2hp but its super light and air cooled. Boat is a 16ft with a 85" beam and fully loaded with gear 2 ppl should be around 1700#s would a 2hp be enough? or should I get a 3.5hp? 4-5hp? Thanks

I have a 75hp etec there is no 10hr service required. its 300hrs/3 years unless you want it done earlier

I think its made by the same manufacture that makes cutter boats, pretty reasonably priced for what it is. I'd have to see one in person, and test drive it too.

Good point, also that boat looks like a short shaft so make sure the bow is point at those coming jet boat wakes! If you haven't bought the boat yet look for a long shaft!

There should be a button on the breaker, to reset it, try that if not then disconnect the motor via plug, disconnect the battery & reconnect and reconnect the plug, I had to do this a few times over the last year I have well over 300 hrs on mine as I use it for trolling 3-4hrs/per trip.

Get another Cherokee QTII(4low) 05 up has a 5 spd transmission 4.7L so you'll get slightly better mileage then any jeep under 04 and can tow up to 6500#s.

I have a motor guide 55# and use 2 D31 batteries and they do get wore down after about 6-7 hrs, used for 75% trolling and 25% positioning.

Hey folks, I'm going to try port dover tomorrow, I've searched the net and found there is a launch at the harbour marina we can use anyone know what the fee is? or of any other launches we can use? I'm assuming the sw/wsw winds won't be too bad there since long point offers some protection? Much appreciated. Thanks

Thats the reason I try to stay on plane but not going too fast, slowing down will cause a much bigger wake. I also try to keep as much distance as possible. BTW I don't have a bass boat.
