Shell 91 is all I use even in the lawn mower, ethanol fuel already cost me $700 in repairs good thing I changed over a few years ago as I hear ppl having injector issues with ethanol too!!!. I hope that Shell will still sell ethanol free gas for years to come:) The daily drivers get 87.

If your going with a boat you might want to take into consideration how busy this lake gets on a wknd.I swore never to go there on a wknd, the lake is so busy depending on time at peak 10am-4pm will take you an hour tolaunch and maybe more to pick the boat up & I think they have 4 launches!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have a 75 etec, and love it never let me down just make sure to set it up properly i.e proper height & prop you should see 5200rpms at WOT. If you do plan to troll a lot then the 4 stroke might be easier to setup for trolling.

I'll be going, was there last year had a great time. Don't have the days down yet as I might be working some wknds. Fun time right before pickeral opens.

My Wife's uncle, passed away he was an avid fisherman his ashes will be spread over his favourite fishing spot, my wife agrees that instead of buying flowers we would like to do a small donation to a fishing organization. Also if you winterized it last year using fogger oil usually after you start it for the first time it spews out that extra oil. just a thought, if it still does it then could be something else.

I would also research other boats then the legends ie, mirrorcraft, smokercraft, ultracraft, sylvan, etc... lots of choices I was looking for 2 years and was greatly considering a legend(cause it would of fit nicely in the garage) but what I did instead is buy a 14ft smokercraft to hold me until I found the best deal I could. Now since you already have a 14ft I would wait and look around until you find "your best deal".

I also have a magellan explorist 500 its a 05 model same issues as others mentioned and the nav stick is broken so I can't even use it properly now, basically only use it to find out trolling speed now.

Thinking of going out for a test run this aft on Lake O. right now the wind is NW under 10kph but its suppose to come from the WNW after 7pm @ 12kph, will be launching from Lakefront Promanade(sp?), I know S wind is bad but is W or WNW ok? I will be in a 16ft boat/75hp. Thx

When I picked up the boat the dealer told me to leave it in gear so I did for a few times then I actually read the outboard manual and it said NOT to trailer in Gear... I use a transom saver now seems to work well but its still not that high off the ground I will measure next time I use it. But I always wondered why most boats I see the motors where to turned to the right. Thx

Why do most ppl prefer to have their outboard turned to the right while trailering? I usually just have it straight up. Thx

I think the problem is the seal, I just used the one that came with the kit its not double lipped. I guess best thing to do is to replace it again with a double lip seal. Will go to Cerka in Milton as its the closest place tomorrow, and change it again, should be easier the second time around:) Thx for the advice.

Looking for some advice, on Saturday I noticed the original hub seal leaking(trailer is only 2 years old maybe 4000kms) so I decided to replace it, I bought the replacement bearing kit L44649 1 1/6" (princess auto). The old bearings where fine so I just used the same bearings and repacked. The seal from the kit doesn't look as HD as the original, anyways I replaced it and took it for a short hiway ride and noticed it leaked again not much but it did leak, is this normal or am I going to have to replace the seal again before I put it in the water? Trailer is a 07 1500# easy hauler. with bearing protectors. Thx

75hp etec, lower bolts r on a rail so they can be loosened not removed.

After some research I found out I need to move the motor up to get the best speed/perf, my motor weights 320#s. I'm told I can use the trailer to do this i.e lower front of trailer(via tounge jack), put a block of wood under skeg, loosen bolts, lift front of trailer align to the higher hole and retighten. Does this sound right? Thx

I own a 75hp Etec, very happy with it. time will tell but if I was to do it again it would definitely be another etec.
