  1. I believe they went golfing at the same time last year.
  2. That's the good part about the Grand.. when the brutes aren't around, there are plenty of those guys using the current to their advantage to keep things fun. A good time with a lighter set up. Thanks for posting Jbird.
  3. Ya, well MY morning started in a Tim Horton's line! A sweet morning, Lew. Gotta love you musky guys who hold up those giants and say; 'not a biggun.' That's as good a morning as I could imagine.
  4. That's a good day of fishin' in my books, Rich. WTG guys and congratz on biggun' Rich. She's a beaut!
  5. Congratz on your fish and thanks for posting 'em for us. Now I get your handle! Cheers!
  6. Congratz Guys and some terrific pictures there, Shaun. Love the ones showing off the lures in particular. Almost like art!
  7. Love the reports Fatherof3! Hey, you're gonna have to give your kids a quick lesson on using the camera so you can get yourself in the pics with a nice liplock on Mr. Bass. Keep the river in the background and you'll have yourself a nice collection of pics to remember your outings by. You guys are ending up with a lot of fish on the end of your lines! And I agree with Johnny Bass; your kids are lucky to have a Dad who takes 'em out fishing so often! Bet they'll remember these times as fondly as you will. Cheers!
  8. Always enjoy the reports from the river. That's a good bunch and bass and a terrific average size. Congratulations on some grand Grand Smallies!!!
  9. Welcome Parisite! Nice to have more 'river rats' on the message board. Goodluck and looking forward to your reports.
  10. Tory isn't a liar because he's a politician. He's a liar because he's a fisherman! lol Sorry couldn't resist. I'm still undecided, btw.
  11. I think that's a terrific idea Dan( and Mods ). It seem like for many of us on the board, photography has become an 'extention' of our fishing experiences. I look forward to the special photography area and all the photos, both fishing and non-fishing, that I expect I'll see there. Also hope to contribute from time to time. And hey, it'll be a great source of inspiration for Pamela and her painting, I'll bet! Cheers!
  12. Hey CH312, was that your Dad that caught that fish!??? 'Cuz I remember back in the 80's the fuss about the huge 100+ lbs Sturgeon caught on Georgian Bay. I remember the newspaper pic, too. If you could dig that up and post it for us, that would be cool. Love to see it again.
  13. Carp or sucker.. they're both ugly! lol Hope you got a little fight out of it anyway. And good luck on your quest to conquer those pike. Cheers!
  14. Some real Grand River good 'uns there Tbayboy. Nice pics and report. Gonna enjoy that video of yours a little later too. Thank you!
  15. Terrific report, Jedi, and pics. Thanks, too, for your detail regarding your baits of choice. Looks like a great time and you're really able to cover a lot of water in that kayak, eh. Cheers!
  16. My Labour Day Weekend started with a few hours of fishing in the K-W area. The Grand River and it's tributaries offer a lot of opportunities for us 'river rats' and wader fishing is probably my favorite way to fish of all. When I arrived, I found another fisherman working the water. Lots of scrapy little Smallies on this day but they were all on the small side and not 'pic worthy.' lol But I was pleasantly surprised when this guy showed up on the end of my #3 Mepps. Also hooked into a Perch a little later which surprised me because I honestly didn't know the River held any up this way. Also surprised pleasantly hooking into this little 13-inch Laremouth, which I would have to be happy with as the big fish of the day. Now about the one that got away. A nice no-less-than 3lbs Smallie was all over my Mepps spinner and went airborn. I really wanted him for the camera so I lowered my rod tip to hopefully keep him from performing any more of those jumps. Well, while fumbling for the camera( and countng my chickens before that hatch )he got off. Dohhh! Lesson learned, though. Anyhoo, an enjoyable time on( and in )the water.
  17. Always enjoy the river reports, so thanks for the post and pics, even if it wasn't as productive a day as you'd hoped for. But that's river fishing, isn't it. Wading the Grand and it's tributaries can be hit and miss. And even when the fish are co-operating, they can run on the smaller side. The rewards for those River-rats who persevere, though, are great!
  18. Ya, it really looks like a Chain Pickeral to me too, Patrick. Good eye, Jedi. The markings really give it away, especially after blowing the picture up. I dunno if you've got a record for sure, but that's the biggest chain pickeral I've seen caught. Congratulations Patrick.
  19. You must be a pretty good angler because you have no problems stretching the truth! lol Welcome to the board Kelly!
  20. Hey, if you're only gonna catch one, that's a good 'n!!! Congratz!
  21. The CRAP stations that Cogeco DOES offer to us in Hamilton is mind-blowing! Never hard to find a dog show!!! Guess they figure Hamiltonians don't fish..
  22. Ya, and a nice full spool will also aid in increasing your casting distance!
  23. Ya, my cousin and I use Jen's system too. Whoever get's up first will phone the other guy. There's way less chance that BOTH alarms won't work and someone misses out on a fishing trip.
  24. One of the biggest Kings I've ever caught( 29lbs )was caught with a very similar set-up, Mistaredone. And it was at the exact spot you're going to. Yup, I remember before I got big into pier casting, I used my all-purpose 7 foot road with 8lbs line. The lighter line helped increase the casting distance. And Cleos are a pretty heavy little spoon, so you'll get adequate distance with your set-up if you're casting Cleos. Enjoy your day out there.
  25. Looks like a whale shark to me( plankton eater )as well as a little National Enquirer-like reporting.
