  1. What a great way to enjoy the day, right down to the bbq! Congratz Joey and thanks for the post and pics. That's a beauty 'bow.
  2. Yup, that's the pattern. I wish you hadn't have posted it Fishnfiend. Now everyone's gonna know about it. lol
  3. That's pier fishing. Only way to increase your odds of hookin' into a fish is by heading out more often. Also, the salmon are just starting to gather at the river mouths so be patient and keep fishing. Oh, and thanks for your report, by the way!
  4. Hia Rana. I couldn't help but notice you didn't mention using 'real' worms. Try some( use only a half a worm or less )on a small hook. Fix a float( bobber )about a foot or two above your worm then cast out to those spots you were trying. It always helps if you find some weeds or stumps or branches to cast near. These make good hiding place for fish( structure )and they'll hide out there 'til a nice, juicy worm drifts by. Conservation areas, as mentioned, are usually good for catching panfish such as perch, sunfish and rockbass, and should keep you and your daughter busy. Goodluck and welcome to the board.
  5. Cool pics and a great find there, Beats. I've never seen one yet myself. I know the Softshell Turtle is listed as 'threatened' in the Grand River Watershed because it's losing a lot of its habitat.
  6. Go straight down Bay Street to Bayfront Park. Look for the boat lauch. It's at the end of a long bay and that's probably your best place to start. Lots of access along the length of this bay on both sides, so give it a go. Plenty of weeds, so consider some weedless presentations in your attack.
  7. Wow! Bet your Aunt wasn't counting on a a feast like THAT! Congratulations FishHeadRic! What an awesome day on the coast. You've got some great saltwater action there and it looks like you're really taking advantage of it. Really enjoy your reports from the coast!
  8. A good post Fatherof3. Thanks for that. Times like this, the resident brookies and brows really suffer.
  9. Thanks for the great report and pics, Rick. Right down to the fillets!!! Looks you you have some pretty good fishing right there in your backyard. Must be interesting to go after saltwater species now, eh? Probably some pretty good eatin' too. Cheers!
  10. Diggin' the Stateside reports and the saltwater fishing pics! Thanks Alex!
  11. I'd apply but it sounds like you'd want me to work.
  12. "Word's Greatest Sportfish!" ..also know as Rockbass.
  13. Those are a couple of nice Crappie there Jedi. Looks like a great way to spend the day and a nice little mixed bag of fish for the day, too.
  14. Nice report and great scenery shots there Fatherof3. Sorry 'bout the ankle. Done that myself a few times. If it's a sprain, you'll be ok soon, but it's ligament damage, you'll be hobbling for a while yet. Good luck!
  15. Ya, but where is the "old skin" option????
  16. That's why I don't read fishing mags as much as I used too. Cuz you get get great stories and pics right here on OFC. Thanks for that carpin' journal Muskiestudd. Nice to see you and Brian 'slummin' with some carp. (lol) Really enjoyed your post. Thanks!
  17. I fish pressued water a lot. It's where I catch most of my fish.
  18. If I had only one lure for pike there it's a silver/gold Williams Wabler. We cast 'em and troll 'em in the Servern area and usually enjoy success. Good luck to ya Grant.
  19. I enjoy fishing with crankbaits waaaaaaaay more than fishing with plastics. I love the way they look, the way they feel on the retreave and I sure love the way it feels when bass slam 'em and you set the hook. Having said that, I find myself casting plastics more often. I feel plastics are more versatile because you can fish 'em when fish are active or neutral. Whereas I think crankbaits are most effective when fish are active. IMHO
  20. Wow, and he has the bass 'hold' down and everything! A budding Bassmaster!!!
  21. Enjoy fishing the area for bass and pike, but have never done well fishing for the walleye, myself. A friend of mine has a cottage in the area and also has good luck fishing for the bass and pike there.
  22. If I'm not mistaken Tony, that's how the original Swill began. The gathering of board members began on the pier chucking hardware and then moved into the Firehall where the lies would begin... LOL
  23. Wow, some nice pics there Sounder and a good day for ya on the pond, eh? Thanks for the post and pics!
  24. Can I have your carp gear, Photoz? Actually Steve, have you gone to a Paralegal? They're like cheap lawyers. Good for simple divorces and wills.
  25. With all the weeds, sounds like you should change the name from 'The Berg' to 'The Bog.' Oh wait, it's taken.. Congratz on the fish, Joon, and thanks for showin' 'em to us. You guys seem to do well out there.
