  1. for whatever reason the link never worked for me. I just assumed it was about the same topic...likely not. My video is largely about gov't spending, paying less tax (being a bad thing), and an all-your-eggs-in-one-basket view on investing in your house.
  2. Yikes....i thought this thread was about economics. I may have mixed up the name.
  3. Raf -- You just brought up a topic i was going to ask about. How do i found out what lakes are covered? The ones i generally fish aren't exactly mainstream lakes......
  4. Funny. THE WHOLE VIDEO IS ABOUT 10 THINGS THAT COULD/SHOULD BE DONE TO FIX THINGS. It is not a "world is going to end" video. Did you watch it, or just assume what was in it? Anyway - I watch the markets like a hawk (livelihood depends on it) and even though the economy is seriously troubled i am pretty optimistic about stuff. You should watch the video -- its very informative (guarantee there's stuff you didn't know) and interesting (if you like this stuff). I think its a worthwhile 40minutes.
  5. clear plastic one-layer boxes as well. One for musky plugs, another for bass, another for terminal tackle, etc. Easy to store, organize, and i take what i need for each outting instead of dragging ALL of my tackle with me. Have a backpack with pliers etc. Its not waterproof though. I'm not sure which is better -- waterproof, or highly breathable. For me its the latter but to each his (or her) own.
  6. Curious -- did you watch the video?
  7. a dumb question, but in the first pics...is he eating planted food? Do hunters bait for deer? (i know nothing about hunting)
  8. That is seriously amazing. I can't even imagine. Funny -- general rule is to put away the inline spinners right now (too fast for such cold water). Guess your FOUR muskies didn't read that book!! Curious - kawarthas?
  9. That's pretty rude, actually. Did you watch the video? About 1/4 of it has to do with what you're talking about.....the last 2/3-3/4 goes far beyond that.
  10. Have heard that before. Thing is i'll also use this on a canoe for back-lake canoe trips etc.. Curious though -- why is a flasher best for ice fishing?
  11. Curious -- why??? Educate me.
  12. this video is fantastic for those interested in this stuff -- http://poptech.org/juanenriquez/
  13. Any recommendations for a portable fishfinder? Mine is crapped out and i need to buy a new one....the two i've owned are quite dated (portable ~7 yrs old, the one in my boat>10) so am not that familiar with how much better the new features are......suggestions?
  14. curious -- why? oxygen levels are lower, and they are just getting ready to spawn. I figured this is the worst time.
  15. If you're goign to plan a trophy pike trip, why not wait a month and go softwater-fishing in early may somewhere.....its the best time to catch big pike. If you're set on ice-fishing, try earlier in the season when fish are more active and the ice is more pleasant (and safer).
  16. I think its great.
  17. i have a berkley lightning rod (or is it stick?). Inexpensive, and has been great.
  18. Also, what is winning in iraq? Who are you fighting (thought there were no terrorists there?), and what/where is the goal-line? Not arguing...just genuinely asking.
  19. Its interesting to me how the democrats are considered socialists. Not disagreeing -- i'm a canadian....really have no first hand knowledge -- just genuinely find it interesting. Was Clinton a socialist? I think the "socialist" tag is used by republican politicians to scare voters. I also find it weird that the republican ideals tend to appeal to rural areas yet the benefits are generally felt in the urban/richer areas....and visa versa.
  20. do you match the hatch with muskies (BIG white/silver bait) or throw something different to stand out from the crowd?
  21. I have seen water on the east coast (PEI, i think) that was private property. Believe it was for commercial fishing, but either way, no trespassing.
  22. Also -- minnows....you risk killing the musky unless you have (and know how to use) a quick strike rig. Even then, minnows are generally crap. Plus, its hard to cover lots of water with bait. Lures are better. If you're going to buy anything for this time of year, i'd go with.... - large perch believer (my fave of this group) - 9" perch or silver/gold/black grandma (serious musky guys use 13" at t his time of year that's too big for your gear) - black or white bulldawg.
  23. I don't know the lake, but at this time of year you may want to put away the inline spinners. They go too fast. If you use spinnerbaits, use as large as you can and run them as slow as you can go with the blades still spinning. You might try big crankbaits like the 10 inch jake/grandma, believer, or anything else of serious size that will get down deep . Troll slow....2.5-3.5 mph.
  24. weird....i stopped by JB's the other day to check out their musky baits and thought everything was over-priced.
