  1. i made one and it works well in the boat......if you fish from shore i wouldn't bother getting one.
  2. Fantastic fish. Good for you. I like those cordells....great lures.
  3. Forrest, let me remind you of some of the things you said..... - you compared the claim to.....nigerian scam emails, Elvis is still alive!, sasquatch, mermaids, and aliens - you called it a loser thread, and wished "loser threads" had their own category so you wouldn't have to see them - you called me ignorant for looking forward to further news on the reported catch - "it is fiction, i will say it again - it is fiction" I think you tasted a little crow when the pic was posted (tough to get the feather bits out of your teeth, huh?), but even then you went after the guy for not taking/posting pics of the measuring tape beside the fish. I mean, come on.
  4. I do have to say -- i am as guilty as you guys when it comes to arguing, and arguing with you guys is fun. Maybe better by PM next time so that we don't clutter up a good thread.
  5. GCD -- you guys were insinuating htat he was a liar before pics were even posted. Forrest compared it to sasquatch or the loch ness monster and was pretty empathic that this was all fiction. I also notice that you have a remarkable # of comments that were edited after the fact. Wonder what you edited if you didn't say anything out of line? Anyway, what you guys have to remember is that this guy never posted any claims that he had caught a world record. He showed pics of a big fish, said it was a great experience, and that he let it go. In fact, they weren't even on the OFC site. He is not making any claims to YOU. If that fisherman (who looks to be me to be completely genuine) reads the comments on this site...what are his opinions of you guys and this site in general? Would he feel welcome? I certainly wouldn't.
  6. Love the samsquatch video....gave me a great big chuckle.
  7. curious...what do you mean?
  8. Thank you!! Very helpful. 60 feet iwth a drop-off to deeper water or shallower....or is the point just to get vertical structure for them to associate wtih? If you're serious about coming up -- lets stay in touch over the winter
  9. Protected as a threatened species in the US. Not here, i don't think.
  10. curious -- if you were goign to direct a beginner (at ice fishing, not fishing overall) what species would you send him/her after? What is the easiest to catch (other than perch)? I have lake trout and whitefish in my lake but zero experience going after them (deep in the summer). Usually fish for pike/walleye/bass/musky.......
  11. :-) no worries. Didn't know. Maybe i shouldn't have asked about pike in this thread anyway. Pretty off-topic.
  12. Why was it still eating? Amazing. Lew -- do pike fatten up like that in late fall? I assume they're chowing down on the condensed schools of baitfish as well, but i have never caught a fat one...even late in the season.
  13. I can't believe the belly.....why was it still eating? I guess what they say about muskies putting on the feedbag in the fall is bang-on. Anyone know if the Ken OBrien fish was caught in the late fall? It had a GIANT belly as well. Also - anyone know if pike load up like this in the late fall as well? Assuming the muskies are getting big while feasting on the baitfish schooling and spawning....i have to think the big pike are there as well?
  14. GCD and Forrest -- i don't believe the guy claimed (at least on the othe boards) that its a world record. From what i can tell he's not exactly claiming anything other than caught a giant fish of a lifetime that he set free to swim another day.
  15. \ sorry -- didn't mean to be rude...just thought it might be helpful.
  16. Does this maybe deserve its own thread, or is that asking for trouble?
  17. Would love to know what it was caught on etc.
  18. That's one rotund monster. Wow.
  19. Holy poop!!! Where is that? One used to take dumps in our horseshoe pits at the cottage....was around for a couple of seasons then gone. I thought they were incredibly rare. Great pic!
  20. One thing to consider -- if you plan on using the big double-bladed spinnerbaits you may want to try a reel with a different gear ratio (and more power). I love my C3, but its not great for throwing double cowgirls etc.
  21. I guess we`ll see, won`t we. And yes, your brain should be able to sort which threads you want to read, which ones don`t interest you, and direct your fingers to click on those ones.
  22. love your baits. What\s the one on the far left with teh rubber tail?
  23. Not raking anyone over the coals. I just wouldn't kill it.
  24. Only three to four weekends a year and i do very little trolling. Has worked flawlessly for 4 yrs.
  25. This thread was started yesterday about a fish from friday (or was it yesterday?). What "few months later" are you talking about? Besides, the beauty of a messageboard is that you can choose what you read and what you don't. There are no magic hands in your computer reaching out, grabbing your head, and forcing you to read this. Anyway, if there is a new record fish (verified for the igfa or not) i am very interested in reading more about it.
