  1. Lew - i am not a techie but firefox is so much faster. Also WAY more secure (IE has a bunch of annoying security issues). Also has some nice extensions (ie. you can download an ad-blocker add-on that stops pop up ads).
  2. I don't think you need to worry about weeds guys.....its frigging march. Splashhopper -- find shallow bays that blends the following... - there will be weeds in a month or two, and or you're starting to see some green now - looks like it warms faster than the surrounding area (shallow, dark, sun facing, drainage from a shallower/warmer pond...whatever) Cast small to mid size baits (smaller husky jerk is good) and go SLOW. Also, don't worry about the early morning, late evening cycles the way you would the rest of the year. Sometimes a sunny warm afternoon can inspire activity....its bizarro relative to the rest of the year.
  3. Absolutely love the bottom four spinnerbaits.
  4. I have a mason jar of them as well. Every few years i drop them off at the dump in the hazardous waste section. I think they think i'm nuts, til i explain what it is.
  5. Unless you can actually hunt urban coyotes (not sure you can shoot within yards of where those 3 yr olds are playing either), i don't see the point. They need to run a sterilization program, or something else that enables killing (or scaring the bejeezers out of) the urban coyotes.
  6. Maybe its me, but didn't you start this thread asking for opinions on what lures/equipment to get.......you had a bunch of people give you great (deeply insightful) advice, and then you followed none of it....? Weird. Why bother wasting your (and everyone else's) TIME?
  7. I use an improved clinch on powerpro all the time....both 10 and 80 lb test. I have never used a palomar so can't compare, but it seems to have its fans so i assume it might be the best.
  8. very, very cool. Did it eat the fish?
  9. one more thing at that time of year - LOTS of deet.
  10. First, pretty sure the musky season won't have opened yet. Must haves.... mepps musky marabou - good for early season, not too big and can be fished slow (for a bucktail) and proper release tools....especially bolt cutters. I use them for fishing all species now.
  11. maybe a dumb question but i have never fished lake O for pike....when does season close/open?
  12. Not loading for me, TJ.
  13. Yep - its pretty smart stuff. They will also line up and "relay race" deer and other game.....instead of a mob of wolves chasing a deer and tiring together, they set up in advance spots along a projected chase line to take turns running the deer into an ambush. Really smart and forward thinking. Requires advance planning and collaboration. Can read about some of it here - http://books.google.ca/books?id=_mXHuSSbiG...egy&f=false
  14. You caught me. I'm the president of P3TA Canada. Bravo. If my position isn't clear enough by now you're either just not listening or enjoying the argument. Sorry man, but lets let this die. Am sure others on the board are tired of reading our bickering back and forth. Agree to disagree.
  15. maybe the coyotes can eat the asian carp. or visa versa.
  16. Even better is an Atlantic. Musky love'm.
  17. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'm all for hunting when the animal is harvested for food. Don't like it when the carcass is left in the woods (especially when its a wolf). If you think that makes me a member of P3TA, then i guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I also think musky fishing with live bait should be illegal (kills too many fish), and i throw musky lures all season. Does that make me a member of P3TA as well?
  18. Actually if you go back and read the thread you'll see i started off by saying "hope they ate'em". The majority of my argument (which is probably what you`re referring to) was in response to another poster suggesting htat anyone against hunting wolves is basically a member of P3TA. I`m not at all anti-hunting. I don`t like hunting for sport when the meat isn`t harvested. Especially when they`re wolves....which i do find to be pretty magnificent creatures (and a non-nuisance animal). Doesn`t make me a member of P3TA. That said, to each his own.
  19. I wouldn't sweat it - am sure its fine. There's a big difference btwn bouncing sound waves off the bottom of a lake or pond and the inside of a bucket (where i would assume they bounce and echo off the sides).
  20. caught on a rod apparently....i found it on a google search from this site - http://fishing-norway.com/index.php?side=N...ultat&id=10
  21. awesome dogs, but you need to work them (or at least get them TONS of exercise). Also consider munsterlanders and brittanies.....not that either is quite the dog of a GSP, but htey may be a better fit for whatever you're looking for.
  22. And its not fine to just shoot deer and leave them in the bush to rot, is it?
  23. Way to take something WAY out of context. I was responding to Rick's assertion that dogs aren't sentient. Pigs and deer are as well (to different degrees....deer less, pigs similar or maybe even more than a dog). Big difference is when we harvest deer we generally eat them. Don't just kill them for the heck of it.
  24. That's an ambitious smallmouth :-). Just looked up the hughes glider. Ouch. I'm too poor for one of those. For the price i'll stick to hellhounds and mantas. Sure looks nice though.
  25. I'll keep an eye out for them. How do they compare to a bobbie or suick? (the only two jerks i've used). Love the look of that glider, btw. If its action matches its looks it must be a hell of a bait.
