  7. A 20' sea can would be about $8k USD port to port, customs $500. VAT and duty additional. Dan
  8. 20' or 40' container, how much weight? Do you need an Export C of A? Dan
  9. From the Algonquin website: Special Bulletin Extended to Thursday, April 28, 2011 Ontario Parks is extending its no backcountry water access camping permit restrictions until the end of Thursday, April 28, 2011. For those planning upcoming backcountry canoe trips, Park and Access Point Staff are currently gathering the latest ice and road conditions so Park visitors can prepare for backcountry experiences. More details to follow.
  10. Ontario Parks are not issuing backcountry water access permits due to ice as of today. Dan
  11. Not sure if anything caught in the Great Lakes would be considered land-locked. Dan
  12. Very sad news, condolences to friends and family. Exchanged e-mails with John but never met him - wish I had, his caring character certainly showed. Dan
  13. I feel the reaction that it changes nothing and doesn't effect honest people is denial. The same people will be after your fishing rods after they get your guns. Check out the poems: First They came by Martin Niemoller and The Hangman by Maurice Ogden; it is the proven tactic of divide and conquer. Dan
  14. There is no reason we can't have an intelligent discourse without needing Mods to intervene or adding comments that have no bearing. Don't take it personally because someone doesn't agree with you - no persons ego should be that fragile. Dan
  15. Here is a link to a CBC poll about scrapping the long gun registry, although not official politicians may pay attention. I feel the registry has been a huge waste of resources pandering to the vocal bleeding heart minority. It has had no real effect on the crime rate other than making criminals safer. 'If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear...Except being oppressed for no good reason.' Dan
  16. We have paddled and fished the section from Walkerton to Southampton a few times, check out the Saugeen Conservation Authority, lots of good smallie fishing anywhere along the route. There are Outfitters in the area like Thorncrest Outfitters that will move you and your canoes or rent you canoes. Dan
  17. Buffalo is the place to go if you are near enough - saved $250 on anything I would get this side of the border and with the Canadian dollar worth $1.05 US you gain on the exchange. Dan
  18. FWIW 1 hp is anywhere from 75 to 100 lbs of thrust depending on the propeller efficiency. Dan
  19. Too bad they ignored the baitcast reel - best of both worlds for float fishing. Dan
  20. If you haven't already give it a good cleaning to get the water scum off, this will let you see how bad the oxidization is. Get a decent polishing compound 3M has marine specific systems, Meguiars is another source. Start with a compound you can use by hand and be careful if you need to use a powered buffer as it can quickly burn through the top coat. Check out Youtube as it has many videos on using polishing compounds. If the clear coat has peeled you will need to repaint, you can't sand a base coat without changing the colour. Wet sanding is a fairly drastic way of removing damaged paint and is best left to someone with experience. Dan
  21. The First Cast in Guelph is probably the best stocked shop around for fly tying materials. John's Fly Materials is a good local on-line store. Dan
  22. Shoot, shovel and shut up.
  23. Now they are finding the rubber soled wading shoes are just as bad as the felt ones. The answer seems to be to throughly clean all your equipment when moving from area to area. Dan
  24. If it has a forced air humidifier in the area the float valve may be stuck, check if there is a valve coming off a cold water line that you can turn off. The leak can show up anywhere downstream. Dan
