  1. Hi Shelley & Big Chevy, I feel terrible that we were closed on Sunday when you arrived. It would have been great to see all of you. We decided to close on Sundays for July and August to give me a bit of a rest and now we will be open everyday from here on. If you are coming back down in the area give me a quick call to make sure that I will be around and maybe we will get out and do some fishing together. Don't feel bad about the fishing on the weekend i was out Sunday and it seems that the fishing just turned off and no one was doing well at all on Sunday. Checking with teh regulars going out and there reports for Sunday was terrible as well. Thanks for the great report and pics seems like everyone was really enjoying themselves. Regards, Sam

  5. You are an amazing individual Lew and I wish I would have met your brother. Lew you seem to have an effect on everyone on this board that I have never seen displayed anywhere else. You do have abilities of bringing out the good in everyone and whenever you see something that does not really sit well with you you find a gentle manner in which you can be subtle in getting your point across and you also have your notorious smile which is your trademark. After all Marvin things your an okay guy so that is good enough for me to be in your corner. To everyone on this board that were involved you leave me speechless........don't know what to say......what a gesture of friendship. OFNer's are the best. Kind regards, Sam
  6. I will have it all figured out by then and will be posting often. Now I need to find a way to find all of this time between the fishing and hunting to actually work the store. If it will be anything like last year I will not be putting the boat away until real late in the season. I also have a good friend that lives down at Cressy and he usually lets me know when the walleyes are out in front of his place. He is one of the first homes on the point coming in from the lake and he always calls me when the walleyes are out in front of his place. When I will get the call is when I start to fish and follow them in. Best regards, Sam
  7. Hi Everyone, I am already down here, so I will make a showing and bring my boat out and fish with everyone as well. I am sure that you have nailed the timing perfect as the walleyes will be in the area at that time and I will be fishing alot prior to all of you arriving so I might be able to give everyone some good spots to hit. Best regards, Sam
  8. Happy Birthday Paul.....hope you had a great day. Happy Birthday Al. Best regards, Sam
  9. Great fishing experience.WTG Regards, Sam
  10. When it starts I will usually begin to post the success of everyone fishing in the area. I know that I will be out fishing for the huge walleyes and will keep everyone informed. Usually the start times will be approximately the 3rd week of October. Best regards, Sam
  11. Hi Everyone, If you remember back in April we had a fund raiser for the little girl that went to school with our sons. The little girl was Lauren Gillie and I am sad to say that she passed away on Friday at Sick Children's hospital in Toronto. Lauren was 6 years old and she will be sadly missed by many in the community and at my children's school. I met Lauren during the school's Christmas concert and she was a little angel and now she is spending all her time being an angel. We love you Lauren and you will be sadly missed. Our condolences to Lauren's family. Kind regards, Sam, Laurie, Andrew and Hunter
  12. Hi everyone, Well here is my report form our bass fishing trip I took north of Belleville with our employee Glen. The morning was great getting up at 4:00 am and starting out by going over to Glen's house and picking him up for 5:00 and off to Timmie's for a wake me upper. The morning sun was ready to peek up over the horizon and I knew that Glen and I would have a good day of fishing ahead of us with no one to bother us (that is why I left the cell phone off). Our first pic will show you the road that we were traveling on and enjoying the scenery and nature. Very peaceful driveway along ways away from populated areas. Had to stop and let this snowshoe bunny enjoy his breakfast. Stopped by the first little lake and trouble started. It was here that we could not backup in reverse and that a tire seemed to be flat. Upon inspection Glen said that your left tire is facing the wrong way. Not really what I wanted to hear being that we were at least an hour away from a service station and on a Sunday of a long weekend. I get out of the truck and yes the tierod gave out at the ball joint and we now have a major problem on our hands. I had Glen push the wheel back in line so that we were able to crawl slowly until we reached a tiny little spot that had about 10 homes in a small town and no one around to ask any questions as who can be of help to us. All of this time I was telling Glen that we will be stranded here for a couple of days and that we better be near a lake so that we can at least make the best of a bad situation. We finally ran into a gentleman walking up the raod on his morning walk and asked him if he knew of any mechanics in the area and he said that we are about an hour away from any mechanic shop and not until Tuesday will we run into a shop that is open. I know that a tow truck would be an outrageous amount of money so I was prepared to find accommodations for a few days until we can get our truck running again. The hiker then mentioned that there is a person up the road that may be of help as he drives the same truck as I do. I thought why not give him a try so he walked over to the next few homes and we crawled the truck in the same direction. To make along story short this fellow had a welder in his garage and we did sort of come up with an idea to weld a washer over the ball joint to hold the tie-rod together and hopefully we can make it back to Belleville. Well that worked and we were back running and driving slowly, I then turned to Glen and said hey we came here to go fishing so let's try it. Glen was concerned because where we were launching the boat there was no boat ramp in the area and he was afraid that I was going to break the weld on the tie-rod. We got the boat in the water and the truck held out okay. The boat was empty and we need to get our gear down to it. Glen then asked if we had everything we needed..well a dozen rods and food what else do we need? Off we go to our little fishing hole with no one around. Glen got a couple of small bass and then we decided to leave the area since we were late getting there and had to make a long trek home driving slowly to get there before dark and near the populated areas in case we get stranded. After our adventure I realized that we have a great fishery right here in the Bay of Quinte and that our next outing would be around home hopefully with many more pics of fish. We still made a good day out of a bad situation and who knows where we will get stranded next time for a quick fishing hole. Best regards, Sam

  22. Hi everyone, I really do not know what has gotten into me lately with all of this fishing stuff, and when Glen came in to work today I told him well the store is yours to run today and I am taking my wife Laurie out for her first outing at bass fishing. Well it did take a couple of attempts for Laurie to be able to cast her line out and once she accomplished that it was time to target some largemouth bass. We went out on the Bay of Quinte for some bass fishing and I think that Laurie is now keen on bass fishing. I taught her how to texas rig some senko baits and then we also did some wacky rigging and before you knew it she was into some bass. We tried some different baits as well as some Zoom frogs however the winners were Yamamoto senko worms. We also tried some top water lures however today was not the day for to tease the bass with topwater baits. Here is Laurie with her very first largemouth bass. Here is Laurie's 2nd largemouth bass. After we finished targeting largemouth bass I thought it would be nice to have her target some smallmouth bass and enjoy their fighting skills on light line. Laurie became a real pro in no time and here is Laurie with a couple of small mouth bass. She did get 4 in total. Well that is it for today's outing. On Sunday Glen and I will be hitting a private lake quite hard and I will be posting pics from that trip and then on Monday I will be taking Laurie out again targeting more bass. This keeps up and I will have to charge her guiding fees Best regards, Sam
