  1. Hi Everyone, I will not be able to make the ice fishing Tyler G2G due to conflicting arrangements. I would like to extend my best wishes to everyone that is attending the tourney. I know that there has been an extremely tremendous amount of work gone into the organization of the event and I am confident that it will again be a great success. I am also anxious to see who will de-throne Terry this year with the biggest fish. Best of luck to all and I will be waiting for the results. Kind regards, Sam and Laurie
  2. WOW, thanks everyone for the kind words. A customer came in this morning asking me if my head was swelling and I had no idea what he was talking about until he mentioned OFC. I want you all to know my head is not swelling just my hat seems to be shrinking LOL Regards, Sam
  3. Give Kevin at Merlands a call, you willbe pleased with teh accomodations and the fishing is great. Regards, Sam
  4. I'll always be in your corner Lew and with a few others we can lick them all . Regards, Sam
  5. Hi Lew, Hope that Sheri is coming along well and she will heal quickly being a young lady it seems they heal alot quicker than young men do. As for the punk that run her off the road I know a good taxidermist that can take care of him and just let me know what pose you would like him in . Best regards, Sam
  6. Hi Everyone, I was away for the weekend on a course and we ran out of minnows yesterday. I have just received 7,000 minnows and have another 10,000 coming for the weekend. Checking around the area it seems most dealers are out of minnows and most of the suppliers are not trapping many lately. It seems that their ponds are not producing many to trap and the high demand for minnows is strectching quite far as a result of the bait ban in the area. We should be in good shape for the week and weekend. Moon's in Deseronto has minnows as well as Sandy's in Stirling. Best regards, Sam
  7. Good Morning, we are usually opne until 6:00 pm on Mon. - Wed. Send me a PM if you are later and I will give you my cell phone number and we can meet up. I will with any luck be out on the ice fishing for a change, but you never know things do happen and change my intentions around. Either way give us a call and we will be able to help you. Best regards, Sam
  8. Here is the link to a map to my store. Carra Outdoor Sports We charge 5.00 for a scoop of minnows and that is usually around 2 1/2 dozen for 5.00. If you only want a dozen or less we will accomodate you. We are not in the business of ripping anyone off. Check with others that have come down here nad I'm sure they will steer you in the right direction. Best regards, Sam
  9. Corey sounds like you had fun adn the expense of laughter was yours to hold............I know you will never forget your boots again. Glad you had fun. Best regards, Sam
  10. Hi Guys, Great to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves and sounds like the laughter started early after leaving home. BOOTS.....well that might just stick LOL........Sorry I was not around to join any of you and hopefully if you make another trip up I will do my best to join all of you and get in on the fun. I know there will be others coming up here in the spring to enjoy the walleye fishing when it opens and I look forward to seeing eveyone. Glad I was of help to you..ooops I should say glad that Glen and Laurie were of help and I knew Glen would put you in the area to catch fish. He knows this whole BOQ like the back of his hand and he has always steered everyone in the right direction. Again many thanks guys. Best regards, Sam
  11. Hi frustrated ice angler, Stop on by at Carra Outdoor Sports and we will be pleased to assist you. I will probably be out on the ice in the afternoon until evening and yes the walleye are also hitting at night. As for bringing up minnows I would not advise it as there is a ban on minnows that are south of the 401. We should have a good supply of minnows by Tuesday and things should be back to normal. If you need any further assistance send me a PM and I will be pleased to help out nad hopefully get you in to something a little larger than a perch . Best regards, Sam
  12. Thanks Lew, Another important issue right now is that the minnow industry is drying up fast and I have 3 suppliers that can not supply at the present time due to demand of minnows needed as a result of the bait fish ban in the area. For those OFNers that are coming up and meeting here tomorrow morning I have placed a good pile of minnows in another tank for you so that you can have them tomorrow morning. I would hate for all of you to drive up all that way and not have access to minnows. Laurie is aware of it and will be pleased to assist all of you tomorrow morning and also pump Glen for info as to where he is getting all the fish. He will also be here at 7:00 am, sorry I can't be here. Remember to have fun and be safe. Best regards, Sam
  13. Here is a quick pic of Glen and I will post more when I get my camera from him. Thanks to BricknBlock for his assistance to get this pic up. Regards, Sam
  14. Hi Everyone, Here is a link to Google Map for directions to Carra Outdoor Sports. http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=l&hl=en&a...182&iwloc=A Best regards, Sam
  15. Hi Everyone, Well the storm on Saturday sort of set things back a bit and the bite has come back on yesterday afternoon and evening and went strong today. A couple of our customers and our staff member Glen Hales have been hitting the ice hard just lately and have produced some nice size walleyes. A hawg of 13 1/2 lbs. was caught and released as well as some 8 - 9 lbers released and a few in the 3 -5 lb range for eating. I will get the pics tomorrow morning when I get to work and post them. They were fishing a couple of different places one being Point Anne which produced the big hawg and other areas are Peats Point and also coming from the George St. ramp. Another spot that is beginning to see some traffic is under the Belleville bridge where today I saw a couple of huts setup there for the first time and this place also yields some nice fish. For some of you that are coming up on the weekend we are open at 7:00 am and Glen will be at the store working instead of fishing and he will be pleased to let you know all of the areas that he was fishing as well as what baits he was using. We do have a good supply of minnows and they are mostly mud minnows wth some shiners. Unfotunately I will be away this weekend and will not be able to join some of you out there on the ice. The ice at Deseronto seems to be getting a little thin and in some areas I would not recommend going on the ice as a result of the currents being strong. Remember to be safe and enjoy your experience. Best regards Sam
  16. Hi Carp, Yes you're right it might be great living next to all of these eyes, however I have been extremely busy that the only time I finally get a chance to get out it was during a storm. I am going to get out a couple of times this week and hopefully I will have a more positive report to post. Regards, Sam
  17. Hi Ehg, Let me tell you what you missed by going back yesterday. It was a great day fighting the winds, snow and freezsing my butt off trying to get all of our gear off the BOQ. I think I am still trying to thaw out,a nd today I will play it say and sit on a warm couch watching the Super Bowl. As for walleye well we got nothing nor did anyone else that was out fishing. It was not a great day at all. I'm glad you made it back safe, it was a wise decision and if you made it out maybe we could have talked you in pulling our gear off the Bay, becasue that is all we did. Regards, Sam
  18. Hi Everyone, I have had many requests to open earlier on weekends during the ice fishing season. We are now open at 7:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays to accomodate all those that are ice fishing. We had quite a storm yesterday and the walleye were not as active yesterday as it was other days. I fished at Peats Point in the morning and at Deseronto in the afternoon and evening and not many fish were being caught by anyone. Hope to see some of you on the ice and remember to be safe. Best regards, Sam
  19. Hi Everyone, The fishing is real good on the Bay of Quinte and there seems to be more people heading out this way to fish. We have a huge supply of minnows on hand mostly mud minnows and shiners mixed in with them. Our price is 5.00 per scoop and you will get over 2 dozen in a scoop. We have the best prices in the area and we do have quite a large supply of minnows. I am also setting up Frabill and Clam portable huts that I will rent out on a daily basis for those that are interested in coming up and would like to have a shelter to fish out of in case you are bringing young ones with you and you might want to keep them out of the wind and cold etc. I will be out fishing this Saturday morning with a crew that is coming out from Hamilton and we will post the results as well as pics. Click on the link for a map to our store, and we can be contacted at (613) 966-0020. Carra Outdoor Sports Map Remember to be safe and have fun. Best regards, Sam
  20. Nice work Lew, get a patent on it before they get mass produced. Regards, Sam
  21. Well I called Cliff at home first thing this morning after reading his post and also gave him my support in this unfortunate situation. I had the young lad call on me here at the store last fall and set up an account through Cliff. I also did not like the individual in the way he handled my affairs and he was very unprofessional at that. I did call Cliff on this issue and of course Cliff the gentleman that he was had a way of smoothing the waters over. My flags were up on this character and now as I explained to Cliff I will not carry any of their products in my store. Just one less account that they now have and I am sure with time there will be many to follow. Keep your head up Cliff and as soon as the dust settles and you move on to a better company call on me for support. Best regards, Sam
  22. Hi everyone, I know that there are others posting reports on the Bay of Quinte and I wish to add that we have had good ice conditions in the last couple of days. Our staff and pro-staff have been out fishing everyday now for a few days and reporting in on conditions. The ice is in good shape and has been for at least 4-5 days now. Today was also a good sign on the bay when Fish Finder Charters placed his huts out on the Bay. AS soon as I am in tomorrow morning at our store I will get the information that Fish Finders Charters has left on our counter and make available to everyone here. Best regards, Sam
  23. Hi Everyone, I apologize for not being on the board lately, I just returned from the Shot Show in Florida which was extremely busy and the weather was practically just as warm as it is here. I have had a couple of people in that are ice fishing on the Bay and I strongly do not recommend that anyone come out here and try to go fishing. These guys are going out behind the Belleville Hospital and they have opened up quite a few holes and the ice is only 2 1/2" inches in some parts and 2" in others. They are wearing float suits and the way we are selling them I would think that there will be more going out to try their luck. The weather forecast Accuweather for the Quinte area this weekend on seems to be heading in the right direction and should be cold for the next couple of weeks and that should be good to make some safe ice. I will stay on top of this and let everyone know and we will have a g2g planned for Quinte. When this g2g happens at Quinte all OFC members coming up for the g2g will get an OFC discount for minnows at 2.00 per dozen. Our normal price is 3.00 per dozen and we do not count our minnows so you will receive more bang for your buck Hope this info is of help to all of you and I will keep you informed. Our website will be up and running in the next day or so and I will be updating it soon and you can email me or call me at (613) 966 - 0020. Best regards, Sam and Laurie
  24. All the best to you and your family TJ. Regards, Sam
