I'm heading out from Gilford on Saturday for the first ice fish of '09. So far, I'm flying solo, but if anyone wants to meet up in the am, PM me. I'll be on the lookout for you, Terry, & any other OFC'ers. Timmies at 400/Major Mack is always a good meeting spot.

Just a quick note to bring some good cheer to the board. As I was doing some online Christmas shopping early last month, one of my traditional stops is the Pete Maina website. There's always great deals to be had at Christmastime, & since there's many fisherfolk to buy for, the last 2 years have brought many t-shirts & stuff this direction. Anyways, long story short, when I opened up the box when it got here on December 15th, one of the shirts was the wrong size. Realizing the date, a small but controlled panic set in. So, I emailed the site & quickly got a reply from another OFC member, Jennifer Tavolacci. She also realized the error & put in a call to Santa Claus. After an email on the 16th confirming it was on it's way, the correct shirt was delivered to my house on Christmas Eve.... So, Pete, you've probably been told this before, but you've got a great LLC staff member in Jen right there. Good stuff guys, & thank you! I hope the holidays were great for you both....

What special boxing deal did you get?
MuskyBill replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
DanC getting a new camera is like ALL of us getting a gift! Congrats Dan. Reading your reply was giving ME the itch as well, sounds exciting... -
I was still wrapping..... Merry Christmas everyone...

Nope, all from from The Bog. Paul, I've gotten it muddy a few times, but it gets camera shy at that point...

I agree with Limey, the Canyon sucks gas in-town, but she's great on the highway. It's cheaper for me to take the 407 home from work that sit in the traffic jam that is Hwy 7 in Concord. Ya gotta admit, the Canyon's got a sweet looking front end!

I have a 2008 GMC Canyon. Like a dumb , I paid a LOT more for it in April, then I would've now. Oh well, what can ya do. After all the crap I've driven for so long, it's just nice to know I 'probably' won't break down on the way to the lake. Here's what I have. I have the extended cab 4X4. It's got the engine upgrade to the 3.7L inline 5, 242 horsies under the hood. Plenty of power. Tow package as well. I tried to base out the options as best I could. Ghetto style windows & locks.... At 5100 kms, the tweeder in the pass. door crapped out. I guess Slayer on 10 isn't recommended. When I took it in, I found out that GM doesn't actually 'do' anything with the entertainment system, they contract it out. They gave me a loaner to get to work & this other company is mobile & comes to the dealership to do the work. While we were getting it logged into the system, something on buddy's monitor caught my eye. Something about a recall. Turns out the CD player has a tendancy to keep running long after I've shut it off, causing your battery to be drained. Now, it didn't happen to me, but since it was a software issue, I could get it done at the same time. Cool. Now, this week, at the 16400 kms mark, I had to get a headlight bulb replaced. If I'm not mistaken, I think they're almost $80 a pop.... Warranty. Anyways, I still really like it. I've never driven a Dodge (pushed a few though!) but I think you'll find you'll like the GMC. In my research, I found that Dakota's have ball joint issues, religiously. Once my other loan's paid off, I'm putting a cap on the bed. It'll be perfect for me then...

What was everyone's "Catch Of The Year"?
MuskyBill replied to profisher25's topic in General Discussion
I didn't really get anything noteworthy, but I DID however have a blast watching my girlfriend get better & better at fishing. This is only her second season, & couldn't land anything last year on account of very poor hooksets. Whenever a fish het her bait, she'd just 'freeze' like a deer in the headlights. So, here's the top 3 fish she caught that will always stick out in my mind. First, she got this guy casting a SuperBeliever in Perch flavour... Then, she topped that with one at night on a topwater... But, the single most memorable fish for both of us this year would have to be her Hawg Largie, also on a topwater at night... I give her a huge pat on the back. Some really nice fish for a seasoned fisherperson, let alone one in her 2nd season. BIG congrats to all of you with some fantastic catches. Biggest surprise has to go to the Sturgeon trolling a Muskie bait.... -
Nope, just Scugog, & it's only a short season at that.

Great fish, kudos for the release!!

That was absolutely inspiring, Grant. VERY well done....

Anyone see pg14 in the Oct/Nov issue of The Musky Hunter Magazine?
MuskyBill replied to BillM's topic in General Discussion
I heard that all of the remaining issues are currently being pulled from store shelves..... -
Right on, Fidel! I'm in the 4th row too, but in section 130B....grea seats nonetheless, but not quite where you'll be. Grab me a pick from Malcolm!!!!

For those of you who got shut out, you've got another chance. Tickets go on sale for the second show on October 10 for a date at the Rogers Centre on January 9. If you want to wait to see if it's worth it or not, those of us that were lucky enough to get great seats will let you know on November 8th, suckaz......

Poor, poor Stoty....

Yup, got 3 in section 130B, 4th row.... I just looked at my old ticket stubs. Saw 'DC at the Gardens almost exactly 20 years ago, October 13, 1988 & the price on the stub is $24.50. AC/DC must be like fine wine, they get more expensive with age. I actually like my rock to be a little heavier, but the g/f & I are taking her 12 year old son to his first real rock 'n roll show. Should be a treat, to say the least!

"Wish you were here", Richard....

Who needs a boat/motor/Winnebago combo?

Maybe he'll trade for a pair of transom tie-downs....
