Ive had a bunch of 4x4s and AWD vechicles over the years Jeep Rubicons ,Xterra, ,RAMS , and Subarus. Like Sinker i Currently own a 2017 RAM tweaked out for all my offload lake adventures , Lift ,skid plates , wheels ..the list goes on . BUT i gotta say I have taken the Subaru Outback 3.6 L through some sketchy stuff . I was amazed at how well it did with only the AWD. We'll always have a Subaru parked in the driveway (on our 3rd) but for working and towing its the RAM hands down . Now the jeep Rubicon was a different creature all together lol .

Ever have one of those moments?????????
Rustic-Fisher replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
Great Topic!! When my son was 4 , we fished a well known community hole on the Notty , I drifted with my centre pin , and the boy was set up with a dead sticked 7 ' light rod for those scrappy 1-2 lb fall rainbows . Simple split shot and roe bag and forked stick stuck in the sand , his eyes were absolutely glued to the rod tip for any twitch or bounce. A couple bounces and a few twitches later ... the kid had tied into what i believed to be a Salmon . I wrapped my arms around him and helped him with the rod and the reeling process , as many fathers have done with their kids . I'll never forget the sound of that Stradic screaming and the the glimmer of the giant rainbow as it broke the water . We landed that giant bow together , he still talks about it to this day ! I've yet to tell him that was the biggest Bow I'd ever been part of catching on that river , he'd chirp the crap outta me lol. Definitely an unexpected catch !!!! -
Rivers , Facebook and migratory fish. RANT
Rustic-Fisher replied to Rustic-Fisher's topic in General Discussion
All good points , I will say one positive thing , I am noticing far less trash in Port Hope , could be the town is all over it as there are a few movies being filmed in town, so that a plus for everyone . -
Rivers , Facebook and migratory fish. RANT
Rustic-Fisher replied to Rustic-Fisher's topic in General Discussion
Not sure where it took a turn , just asking if other experinced anglers feel the same. So far its pretty civil . Agree? -
Little rant .... Im not a huge Facebook user but have “liked” and followed some fishing groups . Ive fished our rivers for over 25yrs , and have never seen so many hero Pics with fish that were caught (flossed) in 20” of water, I am actually leaning toward a full fall closure of these tribs . Am I just getting old and crusty LOL , or are you guys noticing the same ? .

Kicker motor and Led lighting advice
Rustic-Fisher replied to Rustic-Fisher's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Guys, 9.9 it is , agree the hand held spotlight is the way to sneak in . Boat has a dedicated area for the leds so I'm gonna slap em in . More for evening/night time fishes. Now just gotta find a s pot for riggers (for those flat days on the big lake) Appreciate the feedback -
We’re gonna keep the rig I had listed , she’s a beast and replacement is insane with the new tariffs ( was looking at fish and skis , new) any one looking to buy , do it now with the current inventory. Heres what I’d like to do , boat was rated for a 150hp , one reason I went with the 115 merc CT was that I was hoping to add a small kicker . The boat is 20’ 7” and a modified V , I’m thinking a 9.9 hp ? Also , I’m planning on adding a few light bars on the bow to make those early morning duck blind trips manageable. Is there a way I could add these and just use the existing 24v trolling motor outlet ? Save me a ton of wiring . Boat runs off a 3 bank charging sys , I should be ok . Appriciate any feed back ! Thanks Ryan

NF - Mercury 115HP with Command Thrust or 150 HP
Rustic-Fisher replied to hutch4113's topic in General Discussion
I was in the same situation, just different boats . Went with the 115CT , the rig flys with it . At over 20’ it’s rated for a 150, but given the light weight of the boat 115 was plenty , even the dealer advised against the 150 on modified V Jon boat. Any other rig , i would of maxed out the Motor also . Only 8 hrs on the motor but man is it quiet and sips fuel. -

Rustic-Fisher replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
We could make a game outta this , sent Brian a pic of the same van parked in the no parking area at the Ganny this weekend LOL! Whats wrong with people lol -
Took the kids yesterday , (8,4yrs) they loved all the activities , including rocking the trout pond lol. Some decent no Tax deals , but nothing insane . Free parking is a bonus! for the day its100$ for me and the kids, including pay to play activities. Shows about the kids for me now . We did hit SAIL on the way home , some great deals in the store .

20' Legend camo cc Boat opinions.
Rustic-Fisher replied to Rustic-Fisher's topic in General Discussion
Thanks again guys , went ahead and purchased the rig, its actually a Polar Kraft Sportsman with Legend Decals LOL. Boat will pull double duty as a Duck Boat AND fishing rig, at 20' everyone should have room while chasing ducks . R
