Strike master customer service = 763 263 8999 they were very helpful when I called. And Jer I would call - you've got nothing to loose. If you've still got your old blades they'll want the serial numbers on them.
-
Yes - I bought and paid for the real thing and was supposed to have gotten the real thing. The last strike master I bought worked wonderfully so I thought I would buy another (smaller diameter to make it easier to drill). If the new blades come as promised (i should have them in a week) I will have the real thing - so I'm satisfied - they're standing behind their product - trouble is I had to ask first.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet (I tried searching but couldn't find anything) but I thought I would share some info I got from a different site. It appears that some of the recently manufactured / sold strike master lazer augers have blades made in China on them that aren't working very well. I bought a new hand powered unit a couple of weeks ago and while it cut okay it wasn't what I expected. I needed to put more pressure on it than I thought it should need and the auger cut sideways more than it should have. Apparently Strike master is aware of the problem and is replacing the blades with new ones - the only question they asked was when and where you bought it and the serial number on the blades (yup mine were made in china - says so right on the blades). A very nice lady at strike master helped me on the phone today and said a new pair of swedish made blades are in the mail to me today. She didn't sound surprised by my call. so if you're in a similar boat - give them a call - I don,t even have to send in the ones I've got - so they might work as spares/back-ups.

Now that is funny !!

I think we showed the world that Canada is a nation with a history, a heritage, a geography and culture that is like no other - one that includes aboriginal peoples and a broad range of personalities. And yes, using both of our country's official languages was a bit trying at times but I think it also helped to illustrate who we are, and that we embrace it. It was a productin for all Canadians. And yes the performances were lip synched - but they were the voices & performances of some of Canada's most recognized performers. Too bad they couldn't have used more. the mechanical problem at the end - well crap happens.

I thought they were great also. The Olympic song was a bit much - but what they hey - gotta have olympic tradition also. Great production.

Congratulations on your success. It's always nice to see a plan come together. While I support hunting and trapping 100% - I would wonder what our tree hugger folks would think of this type of harvest. Obviously it doesn't look to be the most humane of processes ??

I'm towing it with a ford ranger and it's "squatting" a bit more than I'd like to see. I was thinking about beefing up suspension a bit ( air supports etc), but I'm thinking I might try to lessen the tounge weight a bit. If I can reduce it by say 100 lbs or so - say 6 inches of axle movement - that might help a lot, that would still leave it at 250 lbs . I checked with proctors - they're guestimating my tongue weight should be in the 200lb range. and thanks for the flying j info - i might try there - that'd be nice and convenient. do you think they'd charge me anything to do that ?
-
Thanks again - some good info - we'll have to look into it.

The dump - great idea. never thought of that. My trailer is a northtrail - and from what I've been able to figure out online (again I'll have to look again when I'm at the boat next) it looks like the later example you've described wayne where the spring perches are bolted in place right to the trailer frame - in a situation like that I assume I would have to take the load off the axle - i.e. jack the trailer up and then move the axle after loosening the springs from the frame.
-
Thanks for info - much appreciated. I'll do some more research. I'm not 100% sure how easy it'll be to move the axle but I'll have look the next time I can (boat's in storage off site). But if the axle move looks to be too complicated and I have to move the boat back a bit - perhaps I can move the bunks back to match it so I don't have the problem you're referring to Drifter. Where exactly does a guy find a public scale to weigh everything anyways ?
-
Yes - I believe it is and I thought about that also - but I was worried about making sure I didn't get the axle out of allignment and thought it would be eaiser just to move the boat back a bit. Perhaps moving the axle forward is a better option ?

I've done a bit of research and wondered if anyone could give me the benefit of their experience. I bought a used boat a couple of years ago and have suspected since I bought it that my tongue weight was too heavy for the unit. It's a 1750 crestliner fishawk with a 115 mercury optimax. I've calculated the weight of my boat at about 1100 lbs, the motor at about 375 lbs (both weights from the manufacture spec sheets), and the trailer at about 300 lbs or so. With fuel, batteries etc I'm guessing another 350 lbs or so. so approx 2000lbs. Using a bathroom scale I measured the tongue weight at about 365 lbs. According to some of the literature I've read the tongue weigh should be between 10 and 15% of the total trailer weight. This would put me in the 200-300 lb range - say 250 to split it. My trailer is a bunk trailer (4 bunks) and the transom of the boat sits flush with the end of the bunk. My trailer is a single axle trailer. My guess is each trailer is different but would it be a simple matter of moving the boat back on the trailer until that desired weight is achieved i.e. moving the winch bracket back a bit and adusting bunks and keel rollers as necessary so the boat isn't pulled so far up on the trailer ? If so - any idea how much I should expect to have to move the boat back ? 3 inches, 6 inches, a foot ? I'd appreciate any input from anyone who has dealt with/knoweldge of this issue. thx. Rob V

I grew up on a tobacco farm also - like Dan D. My two brothers and two sisters spent plenty of long days doing anything and everything that needed to be done. Plenty of dirty, hot miserable work , but lots of good times too. Taught me plenty also - like the value of a dollar and what an honest days work was really all about. I sure don't complain abou those days- fact is I kinda miss them. Never got paid much, but always had what we needed with some extras thrown in for sure, and a university education. If I have any regrets its that I didn't get a chance to give my two kids that same experience. But they had plenty of what I would've called dream jobs - doing the Mc Donalds thing, working in retail, call centres and restuarants. But like someone else said earlier, the main thing is they both finished post secondary educations and are starting careers, and continuing their educations.

I quite enjoyed it also. That's my favorite kind of fishing program, north country walleye/pike fishing althought the pike were obviously not the intended species. Informative and entertaining. Great show.

Sounds like a lot more bother and risk (if one of those "non-refillable" bottles leaked in your garage or car that could be a big problem) than what it's worth. How much could you save over the course of a year $100 ??
-
The part that bothered me the most was the fact they can sign up 15 or 16 year old kids to contracts like this with the promise of a free phone. The plan they get signed up with usually ends up costing them two or three times as much as they understood because of all the exceptions and add-ons. Then they get lousy credit reports when they finally figure out they're getting hosed. And I"m not sure Bell's any worse than the rest of them. I just don't think that's right.
-
they're a fine bunch to deal with .. that's for sure. My daughter who was about 15 or 16 at the time got sucked into one of their plans/contracts in exchange for a "free" phone. It really bothered me at the time ... that they could make some type of binding contract like that with a kid. Anyways a couple of years later she moved out west as part of her schooling and needed to cancel her contact with bell. that'll be $200 plus procesing charges etc etc - money she didn't have and as far as she was concerned she had nothing to loose. then the calls start coming from the collection agency. I took the time to negotiate on her behalf, and explained that all my service was with bell, (phone, internet, tv etc) ... but they didn't give a crap. I offered to pay them what I figured she owed them - forget about the fees, penalties etc. No go. So now they get nothing. And as soon as I get enough energy to unsubscribe all my service from bell and find another provider I'm gone too. 25 years with those clowns doesn't count for a damn thing. Some day my daughter may have a problem with her credit account, all because of a company that can't suck enough money out of every last client they deal with. She'll never be a bell client - that's for sure. And she'll have phones, tv's and internet her entire life... but they can't see that. Man I hate companies like that.
