Thanks a lot guys - I'll give the old power washer a try and follow up with the shop vac, avoid the soap and keep the pressure on the powerwasher to a reasonable amount (i.e. don't overdue it). And I've got exactly the same boat Fang ! Thanks very much for the input.

The carpet in my boat (original carpet) is about 6 or 7 years old now and starting to show its age, i.e. fish guts, blood, slime, coffee stains etc, and I'm looking for cleaning suggestions. I've tried the spot cleaning route and it helps - but I'm looking for a good general cleaning. I was thinking of a couple of things, powerwash with some soap/cleaner/scrubbing ? or perhaps one of those rental steam cleaners from the grocery store? The alternative would be to change it completely - but I'm not interested in that kind of expense right now. Any suggestions from those who know ? Thanks.

I agree with holding this summit in the far north somewhere. The farther away from civilization the better. - you'd certainly need a lot fewer cops and security. Why not have it on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the ocean ? cripes for a billion dollars you could build yourself your own ship big enough to host this exercise. Why not hold your summit somwhere off the beaten path, and tell the world after you're done instead of advertising it for the photo-op it is ? How can we have a billion dollars for something like this and be closing schools and hospitals at the same time because there's no money ?

There's a great article in the May edition of Outdoor Canada on the subject of walleye in the weeds. It also includes some good info on rip jigging for walleye in the weeds and features some beautiful bucktails tied by big jim mclauglin that apparently are retailed in JB's Fishing Depot, and at Gagnon's in oshawa. I'm not trying to spam - just pass some info on that i came across recently.

I agree with signing him up to do the test on line. If you're comfortable being his supervisor and you're confident he knows what he's doing (on the water and while doing the test) get him to complete the test with you as the interpretor/supervisor. There's plenty of people out there who can read and write just fine, did the test on line, passed and don't have a flippin clue about how to safely operate a boat/water craft.

I do have to agree - $17 a head to walk through the door is a bit on the steep side (even with a $2 ofah coupon it still stung) and that money could have been spent on more trinkets at BPS - but I don't plan on going every year - I'm guessing once every 5 or so should be plenty. It's like eating at McDee's once you get it out of your system you don't need to do it again for a long time.

Just an update - I took the advise of several folks - included Dan D and had an extra spring put in. I,m very pleased so far. It raised the back end of my truck by about 3 inches and when I hooked the boat up yesterday the truck held it up much better (used to squat 2 or 3 inches - tounge weight is only aobut 250 lbs). I noticed little change in the ride or performance of the truck with or without the boat attached other than the fact the truck rode much more level and I have much more confidence in the ability of the truck to handle the load. thanks very much to all of you for the input. rob V

I haven't been to this show in many years - but went yesterday. The only negative I,ve got to add is the distance between the "north building and the south building". Other than that I thought the venue was good and there was a good mix of everything hunting and fishing with the odd spattering of " general interest " crap, and some scantily clad young ladies shamelessly promoting their goods. I wasn't there specifically for anything but did pick up some plastics like a few people above have pointed out. I did get a chance to meet Mr. Fish himself - Bob Iszumi and got an autographed picture for my son (he's 25). But the best deal I got was the advise to take the subway from Yorkdale mall - only cost my wife and I $10 in total for the round trip - and saved me about 325 cuss words by not having to drive down town and try and park. And I was only 10 minutes from BPS - and I picked up some Storm baits there ($3 each) and some plastics I found on sale there also. All in all a good day. I enjoyed the show - probably won't need to go again for another year or two - but I would go back again.

I haven't been to the show in 20+ years, but for some reason I've decided to attend. I'm going to take the day off and my wife & I are going to spend the day at the show and BPS later. But I'm concerned about driving downtown and finding parking. I'll be coming from the west - could someone give me a suggestion on the best/easiest way to use public transit to get down town ? I'd really appreciate it. Thx.

Sounds like a day you'll remember for a long time. You were a good friend to a couple of people today. Regardless of what the bum does or doesn't do through the courts you did what you needed to do. At least you gave him a choice and restrained yourself from doing more. You probably did what lots of us hoped/wished we would do in a situation like that Good on ya.

Looks pretty close to paradise to me. Enjoy !

Thanks again gentlemen. Lots of good info. I'll do some homework.

hey Ryan, p.m.'d you . thanks.

And that's another thing I may have to consider Jer - I plan on having a qualified suspension technician look'er over too. There might be something wrong that I'm not aware of.

You're absolutely correct Lew !! I plan to keep it - and now I need to figure out the most cost effective way to keep it doing what I want it to. thanks again.
-
Thanks - Lew I was thinking about the air shock idea - I may have to look into that. Bernie I'll have to look into the Timbren product also. And the extra leaf spring is another alternative. Like I said - the truck is 10 years old (albiet in good shape) and I'm not certain I want to put a lot of $$'s into it.

I own a 2000 ford ranger that I use to tow my boat - tounge weight about 225 pounds +/-. The weight of my boat is well within the towing capacity of the truck (boat motor etc about 2000 pounds) and the tounge weight appears correct also (+/-). I notice however that the truck "squats" a bit more that I think it should when I have the boat hooked up - and I'm looking for ways of beefing things up a bit in the back. As far as I know the shocks are still the originals - would replacing them with a heavier duty version help ? Do they make shocks designed specifically for this kind of thing ? I've talked to a couple truck accessories outfits and they're suggesting some $400-$500 lift kits (air bags) - I'm not sure that's the correct term. Any suggestions from some of the people out there that I know have experience with this kinda thing ? Thanks for your input. Rob V

I've used this software for the past several years and find it very helpful and easy. http://quicktax.intuit.ca/tax-software/index.jsp You situation isn't that complicated. Your wife and your daughter each file their own returns. Your wife will qualify to get a refund of the tax she paid. If I remember correctly she can than tranfser unused credits and deductions to you - this software will step you through it. Same for your daughter. She'll file her own return and get a refund of any tax she paid while working her summer job etc. She can also then transfer a portion of her unused tuition credit to you - that you can then use as a deduction on your return - or she can keep that unused portion to carry forward to future returns/income she will have later. Again - this software will step you through it. Or - if you're not sure - seeing a tax professional is the easiest route to take (might cost more) and lets you sleep better at night also. I'm no accountant - but this software made it much easier for me to file my own returns.

Hey Scuqoq - I'm relatively new to the fishing scene here in london also. You meniton lots of opportunity in London on the thames - without giving away your honey holes - would there be any specific areas you would recommend - and for what species ? thx.

If it's brand new take it back to where you bought and tell them to fix it.

I've started thinking about upgrading my VHF radio. My unit is going on 20 years old and I've come to find out there's plenty of things that have changed in radios over that period of time. I"ve come across the lowrance LVR 880 recently - it seems to have a lot of features (probably more than I need) one of which that's kinda neat is that it receives FM signals as well. It would also tie in nicely to my lowrance LMS 525C sonar/GPS unit. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this unit - good or bad. Any input would be appreciated - thanks. PS- now that the hockey game (phew that was close) /olympics are over I can start thinking about something else for a change !!

Couldn't have written a better script. Fantastic.
