Just got back from Simcoe Bait and Tackle to see if they still had minnows for my outing tomorrow. They do have both small and mediums. Someone earlier mentioned that they do not have any more small minnows but they do. Just thought I would post this because some people are having a hard time getting minnows at the moment.

I used this unit as well (I believe Lew meant 265WT). IT is very a very good unit. When I was in Florida it only steered me wrong once. It told me the wal-mart was to the right when it was actually on my left. No biggie because I could actually see the wal-mart sign. Garmin seems to have the best units. I have heard good things about most TomToms as well and I wouldn't think twice about magellan either.

Hey Bill I was at Mapleview yesterday and there was still one 6lb XL 1000 yrd spool for 6.99. I almost bought it but I bought the 8lb one last week so I don't need anymore.

Nice job. Well too bad it wasn't like that yesterday!! I am very jealous. Guess I am going to have to lay the beatin on the Simcoe fish from my boat because I got pwned by them on during the hardwater season.

I don't think a blanket approach of banning cars on the ice is a wise idea. Sure, you have to be careful and respectful to others but I believe cars should be allowed on the ice as long as the ice is thick enough

For someone who needs a pretty good rod at a reasonable price, there is one at Canadian Tire South Barrie. It is a Bob Izumi signature rod reg. $79.99 on for $31.99. There is only one and it is hidden a bit behind other rods. There are other rods as well but none as good quality as this one. Just thought I would give a heads up if anyone was interested in a cheap decent spinning rod.

I know it closes today. I just pitched a shutout all season with regards to lakers and whities so I am NO authority on them.

Whitefish and lake trout I cannot help you with but I do know a couple of easy access spots for perch. You can fish just outside the Marina if you want. I would try south of the fountain. There are a few humps there and a wreck as well. About 150 yrds off shore. Fish the North shore off Kempenfelt drive. There is a small park. Easy park and walk except for a steep decent to the lake. Fish about 30ft of water about 200 yrds off shore. You might hook into a pike there as well.

throw small crakbaits with it for smallies. For sure. I drop shotted with a 5'6 UL this fall and hooked up and landed a 3 pound smallie. It was fun and I didn't feel the fish was too much for the rod.

I went onto their websit and it says they open at 7am. Does anyone know if they open earlier? I hae been there right at 7 am in the past and they looked as though they were open for while. I should have phoned them today but it is too late now and I am going fishing tomorrow am.

I haven't caught any whities or lakers this year as I have only been out a couple of times. I have caught many perch but tomorrow I got the go ahead from the boss at home to go for some trout one last time. I will be out from 7:33 until 11:46 am. I hope to get this trout skunk off my back.

Am i reading my regs correctly? I have a sport fishing licence. Can I keep 12 whitefish per day?? That seems excessive.

I keep calling for the same contest on 107.5 (sister station) but no dice yet. They are going to have about 500 qualifiers!!! Good luck to him though.

I use size 2, 1, or 1/0 octupus. Usually Gamagatsu or owner.

I managed to drop 2 hun there this morning. I got most of what I was looking for including a reel, a bunch of treble hooks for my cranks, a net, a digital scale, some line, a few crankbaits, a double bucktail spinner and a claking rap. Would have loved to shop more but I was alone and have 3 very active daughters of which the eldest is 7 and the youngest is 2. That in itself was a full time job. They were pretty good because I told them we would go the build-a-bear store if they behaved. I will have to make it back there during March break.
