  1. Boiled dinner for us is not the same, as we use salted beef. Same thing I guess, but much different.
  2. Yes, the wife use to cook it that way, til me ma made it like this for her. My pop would use the strain spoon to get all the meat. I learned that trick well too.LOL There was always lots of sauce when this was made. There was also lots of bread to sop it up. Next best thing, if there were no potatoes left.
  3. Just like your auger. Unless you know they can replace it.
  4. Sometimes, you need to read between the lines. Nerd boy.LOL

  7. This one is taken from my Hungarian great grand mother, on my fathers side. It is a very simple meal to make, but lately the cost of this meat has been high. When it does drop, I always like to get a roll and make this up. It,s a cured cottage roll, that I slice and dice into 1"-1.5" cubes. When it was made back when I was a young,n, the cuts were much smaller, as there was a large family gathering to feed. Since it,s just the mrs,s an I, I like the large chunks. So simply, cut up the roll, onions, and peppers some garlic if you wish. Combined in one pot. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 4 hours. Once that is done, add the can of diced tomatoes. Add fresh ground pepper. I like lots, but some dont, so I reserve my extra for later. This will rest til dinner time. Just before then, I will bring it back to a boil and thicken with starch. This was always served over boiled potatoes. Lots of potatoes back then. Over rice is very nice as well. I would recommend not adding salt to this as there is a great salt content already in the meat from the cure. Enjoy.
  8. So how do you present the bait/ cut it up?

  12. I knew the electric would be brought up. Sorry, but they didnt have them back then ( Well they did, for carving hams and turkeys) and to me, it,s a lazy mans knife. No disrespect intented here.
  13. You will not find the same quality of knife that Rapala made back in the day. I still have my first one from 30 years ago. I also have one I bought from Pete a few years back. These knives are quality. A few nice swipe on a wet stone, and they are good to go. There are sharpeners out there, but I still like the feel and sound of a knife gliding over a stone.
  14. Ryan, do you believe in Karma? I do, and Im sure it,s playing full fold on you dude.

  25. When I moved to Barrie many years ago, I was an avid hockey player. Talking to some locals, I was told to just show up with my equipment and hang around during adult league hockey. I did, I had no idea whom I was talking to at the time when I was asked, are you playing the next game? I responded no, just hanging out looking for a team to play on. Turned out to be Bob that approuched me, and told me they were looking for an extra player. I played the remaining year for his team and some shinny wednesday afternoons with him at the old Dunlop arena, I still remember him burning up and down the ice wearing those cooperalls, wearing his flyers jersey. LOL Funny how first impressions last a life time. If I had a picture of him wearing those cooperalls, that would be going on the fridge................................
