We found anywhere from 8"-10"-even 12" on the west side here on the weekend. You are right about the shore. I had to spud some chunks down to size so I could get on,but the ice IS the best it,s been all year. Need me another couple perch feasts, then ok. Enough with the ice then.LOL
Boy if I could of had one build over night, you would of enjoyed your time on the hard water. Sun was shining,no wind and it was +6 by 10 am. Just sit back and enjoy the rays.
What a difference 24 hours makes. Fish all over me yesterday, and well today, they were just very shy I guess. Was set up at 5:50 am ready for another great morning. Well that didnt happen. Quick 4 fish and that was it. Moved a dozen times. 50 ft at a time. 28 fow down to 10 fow. I guess they were enjoying the beauty day as well. Not sure if I,ll get out next weekend, but Im good. Time for the river gear to get sorted out.
Been a long while since I dedicated ice fishing time to perch, but with the past couple of weeks with a deep freeze,I figured what the heck. Hit a spot I had fished maybe 4 years ago. Larger sand and weed transition near a drastic drop. Started off very slow. Only marking a few. Got to moving around and found them. They were super aggressive. Flying up from the bottom and hammering my spoon tipped with maggot . Spent 3 hours on the same hole. They would come in and leave. I know from pass reading, they will circle the area. And they did. All morning long.
Landed around 40 and kept 14 for a fish dinner tonight. My peeps are not like they once were, cleaning 14 of these guys gets tricky now. I,ll take 2 whities anytime.
Going to give it another try Sunday morning. To much fun not to.
IT was also great to finally get back out with me bud for some fishing. 4 weeks MIA seems like forever
If ya cant land the whities I say, go for the little guys. LMAO
Good job buddy.
Im going to be out trying for some yella bellies this weekend. Give the pipes a rest.
We had a very mild winter here. Been much worse in the pass.
All this snow the past weekend was pretty much to the Barrie area. Anything north of the 4th of Oro, they got nada. We walked on ice all weekend, no snow. It gets crazy here. South of the bay will have nothing. Head up Bayfield, and there will be a foot of snow.
You should of fished Friday, then you would of thought Saturday and Sunday were just a breeze out there. Saturday was nice til around 11. Sunday was the same. You got out there just in time to enjoy the best part of the wind. LOL
Glad the bike started up. I hated that feeling when way out.
