Bartering fish for yummy Russian delight
I have friends that do not care to fish, yet love to eat it. I have no issues with keeping a fish for a friend when asked. My one Russian friend and I share or barter. I offer him a fish, and he in return, offers me pepperettes and smoked cheese. His wife makes us lunches sometimes. One day, I had this ground stuffed meat thing. It was so good. I thought it was ground turkey or something. Turned out, it was pork. So good, I had to ask how and what. I told him not to worry, he would still get his fish. LOL
This I was told, is a Russian staple . To me, it is a treat. Usually it is stuffed with onion and chopped egg. I , as I always do, changed it up to chopped onion and mushroom. Im sure what ever you stuff it with, it,s still so so yummy.
Main ingredient,
Tried my hand at making the stuffed rolled pork.
So simple and ya, so fattening, But, so good. Might explain why he,s 260 lbs. LOL
Want to hear some crazy stories Sir. I,ll be on the bank Tuesday morning. Away. Do not forget coffee. LOL
Then again, if your going to come by later, a fillet o fish and fries will do. LMAO
Those are some bulky bucks. No need for a clear pic to see that.
Im getting back into bow hunting next year. And NO, that was not a hint for property request. I have been away from it since my detachment. Need to get back out there and enjoy what I have been missing. Thing is, it,s been harder and harder to get private land up here. May have to share crown. Hate that, but it is what it is.
I sure do know the one. I have to use it when Im rewiring sensors wires.
Thanks Josh.
Have been using Sally Hansen nail polish hardener. Works great. I was half hitching, but I needed to get the whip accomplished, and I find it very easy to use now.
Some from this morning.
I need to get a quick clamp vise that rotates. Hear that Santa ? LOL
Now time to tie up some roe bags for Monday mornings fish.
I have learned my lesson. No sense floating a river when it,s -10.Frustration of frozen guides and floats and hands. I never listened, but now I am older and wiser. Next week looks prime, but Im in no hurry to get there. Im going to act like Im retired. Sleep in til 6, then hit timmes, then the river. LOL
Back to back of my 2 teams. Leafs home fav, and Boston my heart team growing up . Boston has been my team since Bobby Orr. Ray Bourque was the next gen D guy for me.
I hope for another great game.
Im sure back when and then, there was not the need to post, as there was much respect. Today, can see the posting of private/no trespassing.
I would walk from the park all the way down to the dam. No fence no signs. I even walked across the dam, to get to the best above the dam spot for rainbows. Drop backs. Sure glad I have the great memories of those days.
I was shocked today.
Was at Cabelas this morning. Announcement came over the PA, Please observe a couple of minutes of silence. I could hear people still chatting away loudly. Was very disappointing.
It was very nice though that the store did this today.
Guess who got the whip finish down? Ya baby, it,s easy when you got the right tool.
Fuzzy scud ( ya I know, need to trim the back )
My own version of cluster egg drifter
Those are #10. Getting smaller. LOL
I am finding that I am doing to much with my left eye condition. Straining it. Need to take a break.
Not only is Cabelas blowing out high end rods ( which they still had a handful in stock ) they are blowing out their fly tying stuff.
Pretty much half price of BPS or Sail.
Time to get busy.LOL
Going to be tying up some fresh water shrimp scuds. My favorite perch bait. Got to talking to a bye from the rock as well and he tells me they work great for stream trout. Said to just add some hackle to the river ones.
Busy busy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Lead and copper wire was on for $1,25 a spool. That was a 60% savings from the other stores.
Home at 4. Watch fly tying videos and make a few of my own creations and some bugs. Look at the clock and it,s 9:47 pm. ALREADY. This is either a good thing, or a obsession.. Think I,ll take a week off and go steel heading to get my mind off the fly tying. .
Forgive my ignorance John. You say fish ladder and it,s on private property. Fishing the river from Toronto up to the forks of the credit and above that, there has only been one transfer lift that I was ever aware of. That was in Streetsville. . The dam. It was public property, a park, when I fished it in the late 70,s and through out the 80.s and mid 90,s. Have things changed, Nice to see the helping to carry on the Coho fishery. I enjoyed watching them spawn at Erindale and the old Kraft area.. Beautiful colors they have at this time. Best coloring next to the browns.
Edit to add
I see it is the old dam in Streetsville. Boy, has that configuration changed from what I remember. Even had to google earth to see the changes.
