When one walks the river,you hear many chats about . I have run into guys from the past days of river fishing,but never have I knew them nor their names. I would just ear drop and hear things. You know, we caught this there and here, oh you should of seen the one I got last week. This one conversation this morning had me listening. I even stopped drifting to hear this. I just stood there in the water, lit up a cigar and listened. My gawd,the story they were telling made me so thankful I no longer fish these areas they were talking about. During one part of their talk,I piped up. Seems it has got to the point where fishing in the southern tribs has gotten worse since the 80,s. I mentioned the clay banks at ErinDale. Oh the conversation got good. The younger fellas had some good stories. Back when I fished it,it was probly 20 or so guys shoulder to shoulder and everyone got along. Mostly cuz we were all regulars. Now,it,s 40-70 guys. There are even threats and fistacuffs. WOW UNREAL The older fella and I, had a good chat about another river system down that way. We both remembered many things from back in the day. It was good to share the old times. We pretty much fished the same stretches. I told him since I moved up here,I have never even thought about heading down there to fish. Funny thing,he moved up here as well and said the same thing. We are starting to get the crowds up here now, but when the cold sets in,the numbers lower greatly. Also I have spots to get away from them,so have ater. Shame that it has gotten to this on the river. Thought I would share my sorta feel good back in the day chat. BTW, it was -1 this morning for about 2 hours on the river. Didn't reach +4 til 11 am. 1 shaker hook up ,a jump and spit. It,s a start.

I can honestly say this I am glad I was not in the Chris B house hold when that one shot one goal was made by the Sens.

Oh, oh oh oh, my what can I say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I worried for nothing. It is after all, trial and trial and error at times. I got to 160 with the box cover for 3 hours. Total time 7 hours. Pull the box off for a look see. Everything looked good to me. Push on the meat and it was well, good IMO. I could not wait no longer to try the rib taste like bacon. Well let me tell you, without the frying, it was soooooooooooooooo good. The maple hickory wet rub turned out just as I thought. DELISH I put all 6 parts on the grill for a quick char. It really didn't need it, but what the hell. Smoker was right there by the BBQ. I told my granddaughter I was making rib bacon . She said what ????????. This will be the real test. Someone mentioned , over population. I am no expert in this climate change stuff, but to me,this made sense in my mind. How much can this earth of our take ? Yesterday, all my troubles seem so far away.

Thank Smitty I need to get use to this as far as meats go. You are right though, fish is easy. I reached 150 so far, swapped the racks. High to low ,low to high. They are looking good. Will leave for another 4 hours. I really hope my bacon taste rib theory works. As for the other racks, I know what to expect with taste. New menu, bacon ribs and eggs. LOL

I was in Meaford yesterday Wayne. If I caught a fish at the wall, I could just flop it on shore. Normally,it would take a 5 ft pole net to get a fish. I was like,holy crap. Every G BAY trib I have been on the last 8 days, are 4-5 ft higher then I have ever seen them.

I started the ribs at 10 am, by 11;30 I was not even getting close to 140 deg. It,s 16 deg outside. I have since put the box ( which I saved ) over it and it is climbing. Is it common for these units to not hold the heat at these out side temps ? Maybe I need to rethink about another unit to smoke in cooler weather.

Look for any damage on the sled. Really look close to the under carriage. Look for anything that looks bent,cracked or what ever. If you can,have an experienced sledder with you when checking it out. Capt Steve is one guy that can look at a sled and tell you weather it has been rode hard. Maybe he will chime in. Careful with those sellers that say,I,ll bring it to you.

His quack was very low . Low b bar. As for fish, they were there. They be to busy jumping and saying,you cant catch me, me lady is up a mile or two, so got to get my tail in gear. One even popped up to say, we know that missmonster, she has no place here. LOL Went to head to another local and got the warning light. Low air pressure in back tire. Stop,look and yup, a large screw in the tire. Was able to top up the tire and make it back to Barrie. Kal Tire fixed and at NO CHARGE. That is service to get a customer. Guess where I am buying my next round of rubber ? New rubber coming in 2 weeks, with a $200 discount. Ram approved . Day 8 of 9 is close. Another early am blast off in the ram. Time to wrap up the fresh smoke from yesterdays catch. I am sure those I will be fishing with in the morning, will enjoy. The joy of sharing.
