  1. Very true words (in bold is key!) as I worked with HH for a few years and this was key for all we worked with and for.
  2. When it comes to catch and keep for a meal I have an idea that might work and I'm going to get bashed for it or get 'great idea' type or replies. With a S-lic you get to keep 1x over 50cm and the others must be in the 35-50cm. with a C-lic no over/under. That could bring a better balance as Sinker was saying, let's the smaller ones grow up as the big old predator is removed. Just a thought for all FMZ17 to do on the open lakes (yes Scugog is closed till further notice).
  3. zone 17 is so close to the "city" so yeah it get's fished hard. So do other zones but FMZ17 is rather close to most in the GTA and less travel time vs going up the 400. Also the Trent water mgt is key to making sure the walleye egg's are not left on dry land as they open up and move water from lake to lake. This is part of the problem and why Scugog is closed for walleye. Over fishing and not managing water levels properly. Maybe it's time to start talking stocking or review the slot in place? I do not know. However I do know that most of the walleye I caught last year and so far this year are over the slot. Last year I'd say 70% were out of the slot and most over the 50cm mark. I back this James person's ideas to from the brief read on the links.
  4. AKA the wooden boat... And I'm still 30' short of the good spot...
  5. Go ice fishing? Well with some of the tings we wear to keep warm that's a good grip to keep hands warm and still reel line in with the flap of the mitt's (flip over for open fingertip style) not getting hit. I've caught myself in the summer jigging holding that way from time to time but if a good size fish is on then back to 'traditional' grip (after the hook is set). Never a wrong way to fish unless the rod is upside down and I'm sure someone will post that meme at some point...
  6. welcome back to the 'reports' side TJ and I hope you and the WHOLE fam has a great season up there this year
  7. Thanks and nope a jig and grub. Swimming slowly and popping it up randomly
  8. The boat isn't in yet but at least we now how 20' of dock in. 30' more feet to go but the water is way to high for that. At lease now I have a spot to cast off of. I was rewared with this 22" last night.
  9. I had seen another customer post a video today on FB of his boat and well, if it didn't have rot before it sure does now... Trying to find the video...
  10. This is valid. My parents went away for 6 weeks recently and they paid me my gas to run there and back a few times a week to check on the place and get the mail (was a cottage now F-T home).
  11. Yeah no not me or my boat. It was all over my FB feeds yesterday is all. And yeah if it was a gut it and rebuild then that pic is null and void as the owner was paying for a rebuild the way he wanted it... vinyl and the screws he provided
  12. Yeah I know eh?!?!!? Maybe they are a new secret weapon when beaching a boat to attach it to a log on shore...
  13. Anyone else see this on FB? "Share the HECK out this!! Just got my boat back from Trimmed Out Boats..word of advice ..dont use them " https://www.facebook.com/george.pearn/posts/1594631850560916
  14. It wasn't a small area at all! He was clearing out 100' x 200' or so area and he doesn't have kids. Just him...
  15. That is my set up right there. I also have a 7' I use from time to time with larger jigs.
  16. I got a call back and yes the person was fined. Someone on the lake my parents live on was dragging a Sweedsaw (SP?) behind the boat to remove the weeds from the swimming area from the cottage he rents out. I sent them pic's and a video from my cell. They then called to confirm the address. Then they called and told me the outcome. He ever does it again the fine will be the max they said as he was caught and fined. So yes they do call back when you send digital proof...
  17. Nice going!
  18. Well they have a decent marketing team to be on top of this post as fast as they were... HA. Me, nope I'd rather go buy what I know works from use and or personal 'hey try this' info. I need to see it first hand before I buy
  19. sad but very true. I had people last week calling for TV rates with all the sports channels so they could see the game. I said "well you must be far from the arena then I'd guess?" to be told "I don't want to drive 20 to 30 min to get there". Far from real fans who drive hours for a game...
  20. Well golf club trade fell through so it's a non-issue now. It was never needed but to have a rod/reel combo I'd use vs clubs unused for 5 years was why I was looking is all. thanks again.
  21. So if the back up set of golf clubs sell tomorrow this is what I'm thinking to get. G LOOMIS E6X 803C JWR 6'8" - BRAND NEW - $150.00 SHIMANO CURADO 200 BRAND NEW IN THE BOX - RIGHT HAND or LEFT HAND - $200.00 (also has the 200HG same price).
  22. work then rain's been getting in my way! I'm going to try a covered spot tomorrow if it's raining.
