good luck getting that 10 pointer Brian. I'm thinking I may take up hunting in the next year or two but I just nead to read more on things like you mention; like reading the path and wind. shooting a gun is a non issue as I have fired many in my past Queens York Rangers history so it's all about stalking and being legit with the lic/tags. the funy (for me) part is I found myself reading the Lebaron fall cat. today and looking at all the guns. why? duno... LOL

never in the house or cottage, just in the boat house. let me tell you, when they get in there and can't find a way out or food look out. I opend the door (hadn't been there in 2 weeks) to see the fishing rods all over the floor and this wee guy/gal dead at the boat doors with it's head up to the door. I guess it noticed it was stuck, freaked out and went full speed into the door and died. so far, that's 2 this year that have done that...

sad but true...

now if they would just install a beer vending machine beside it...

gee fang, I'm going to have to try your brine with the sweet chili thai sauce now. it sounds good! Oh Paul, when you make the brine put some in a spray bottle. every time I check on the fish I give it a spray to keep the fish moist.

Hey Jet. I have a clam 2000 and just got some ski's to do the same thing! I got the ski's for free using freecycle.org... Now my question to you is this. How long are the cross members at the pin/hinge/bending point? I'm not good with metal but I'm sure I can try and make something out of wood... Let me know when you can, cheers. Geoff

For brine (when I do salmon) I like to use 400ML of soy and 100ML of honey. Mix the two in a pot and heat but not boil. If you get the brine to a biol it's too hot. Let cool after the honey has mixed in nicely. Then when cool add the fish to the brine and let sit in the fridge for 24hrs. I have used apple wood and alder and I like apple wood much better. Also you don't want the heat over 220* as an FYI...

If you have an old set of downhill skis that are in decent shape but will never be used for skiing again...would you mount them on the base of this hut? The clam 2000... I will be walking most of the time but the odd time I will have a atv or snowmobile, thanks.

That's about right, the cost that is... you can get the cement at the $$ store and some of the items needed as well to dress the hook. go check out the fly tying section at your local tackle shop as well as craft stores...
