So glad I didn't get one when I looked at it now that I read a bunch of posts like this all over the net. I had one and was ready to get it and ended up with a BPS Cranking Stick (or clacking stick) for less, better warranty and more feel and it's a decent weight too. Not a prob. casting it all day with mid size jerk baits.

Why not a BPS brand as the warranty is good. Same with Shimano! The better Shimano rod's have an over the counter warranty. Just keep the bill of sale safe.

ouch, that's just cold... I was using 3 diff. lines and the duracast was one. A guide shold put people on fish just like I did but that's not for this topic...

I just watched a great 5 min youtube clip and I'm ready to do one! now to find the router...damn, it's at the cottage still... but the key is to use the right fine wood tip to use.

Correct, you sure can and it will mean more to your mom that anything else you could buy. pencil, stencil and router and the other items and you are good to go. considering it IS a cottage the rough around the edges look should look even better, like it's been there a long time.
