  1. Oh man just go drive through algonquin right now...we saw 13 the one day I was there and that was just from highway 60. I'm not exactly sure of the differences between the 2 versions of the lens. I've got the version II and a wedding photog I know has the version I and we've been meaning to do some side by side testing but just haven't had time yet. I do know however that there's a better coating on the glass as well as a newer IS but weather or not that's noticeable, I'm not too sure. All I know is that the 70-200 2.8 is a sweet lens no matter what version it is so you really can't go wrong.
  2. Yeah the moose shots were all with a 500 f/4. I did take a few shots with my 70-200 f/2.8 but the moose are just so ugly this time of year so those shots won't be posted lol
  3. Last weekend I headed up to the Algonquin Park area to photograph some spring time moose and some landscapes....enjoy! seems appropriate to start off a post with a sunrise pic - Smoke Lake, Algonquin Park Sunrise-Smoke Lake, Algonquin Park by bbroderick86, on Flickr 6 shot pano of the Magnetawan River near the town of Novar Magnetawan River by bbroderick86, on Flickr The Oxtongue River The Oxtongue River by bbroderick86, on Flickr Now for the moose...which don't look the greatest at this time of year so I was trying to get shots of them from a distance...however most were right next to the highway. So here's the one shot from a distance that i'm happy with. 4. Over the past couple weeks I've had the privilege of fishing with Jon Bondy Grant McAllister, Gary Hodge and Bob Devine for Walleye on the Detroit River. I'm mainly out there for photo purposes so if any of you have questions about the specific techniques used to catch these fish, I'm sure they can chime in as I believe some of them are members of the board. Anyways, here's the shots! 5. Hellfish brings up some good points. TJ, if you're willing to give up the video capabilities, you could get a 40D or 50D which as mentioned has a higher burst rate (6 frames per second) and is also much more weather sealed than the Rebel series. I've owned both a 40D and a 50D and I loved them!
  6. and I'm biased to Canon equipment...but you can't go wrong with either choice!
  7. Nice shots Rob! It was great meeting you and Chris!
  8. I was there and it was an awesome crowd tonight!! (I was the guy walking around with the camera around my neck)...looking foward to Barrie tomorrow!

  12. We launched out of LaSalle and I haven't heard of anyone fishing the lake yet but I could be wrong
  13. I had the pleasure of getting out on the Detroit River with Jon Bondy yesterday to film a how-to video on vertical jigging for river walleyes. Although we didn't manage any fish, it was still great to be out there! <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZIKjaKR4bu8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  14. thanks guys! newboykool the katmai guided part of my trip cost about $3000. That included the guide, a cook, tents, etc. It also included the float plane ride from King Salmon, AK into Katmai Nat'l Park.....but the hour long flight from Anchorage to King Salmon was around $300 and that wasn't included.
  15. Last week I was interviewed about my photography by a student in the St. Clair College Journalism program here in Windsor. It aired last night at 6pm on Cogeco channel 11, a local station. Enjoy! <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MnpKJTwUMrY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  16. Hey Bill, That was shot with a 16-35mm f/2.8L II lens. I hear great things about the 10-22mm!
  17. Yesterday afternoon I decided to take advantage of the curiousity of a couple White-tailed Deer here in Windsor.... 2 White-tailed Deer by bbroderick86, on Flickr that was shot at 16mm and here's just another shot of a doe as I was heading back to the parking lot White-tailed Deer by bbroderick86, on Flickr

  20. I went out in search of Deer to photograph this afternoon. I had found a few deer and while I was setting up I noticed something else...2 Mourning Doves on the forest floor. Since I've never actually taken any time to photograph doves before, I decided to focus on them instead of the deer. All of these photos were taken with the doves no higher than 18" off the ground...enjoy! 21. Awesome Dan! And I believe the rules state that lenses used must not exceed 80mm in focal length.

    Seagulls

It was a slow day shooting at the Marina today. Not many ducks in the area and the ones that were there weren't flying. I didn't want to leave empty handed so I turned my focus on Seagulls, which I don't think I've ever photographed before...there's just usually something more interesting to shoot than Seagulls. My patience paid off and 2 Ring-billed Gulls gave me the opportunity for an interesting shot...enjoy! Ring-billed Gull by bbroderick86, on Flickr
