  1. Hey Everybody, As some of you know I spend most of my time down in the Photography area of OFC. Posting photos on here has really helped me get where I am today with photography. Feedback goes a long way. If any of you are familiar with the photog section, you'll remember last month I travelled to Alaska to photograph Grizzly Bears. When I got home I submitted one of the photos to a Contest. I was notified this morning that my photo had been chosen by judges out of 1100 entries as a top 12 finalist and now it's up to the public to choose their favourite. This is where I need your help. If any of you have a moment to spare, please send a vote my way. The voting page is located here: http://www.naturetrust.bc.ca/photocontest_voting.php As I mentioned my photo is the one with the Grizzlies.....it also says "bbroderick" underneath. Thanks in advance!! Brandon Broderick
  2. Got out and did a bit of shooting this weekend....here are a few highlights Creek Pano some shroomers Forest Pano.....I've been wanting a shot like this for a long time now and I've scouted place after place after place for a good location for the photo and haven't found anything I liked....until today when I stumbled upon this while hiking And in this pic there's a pool to camera left....I counted over 30 salmon in it...might have to wet a line there sometime in the near future..
  3. Went back to the same place I was yesterday, Lynn Headwaters Park in North Vancouver and took some more photos....enjoy and now for the scenery pics.....Lynn Creek
  4. Went for a little hike this afternoon and took a few photos....enjoy
  5. In the past I've passed up many opportunities to take macro photos so last week I purchased a Canon 60 mm f2.8 macro lens. WOW is all I can say. Not only can you take some pretty cool photos with a macro lens, but you also gain so much more appreciation for the tiny world at our feet that we normally wouldn't think to look at. So for that alone, the purchase was worth it. I'll start with the other photos first and leave the macro shots till the end.....enjoy Lighthouse Park.....I never get tired of photographing this lighthouse Pano of Whytecliff Park here in West Vancouver Now for the Macro stuff Tiny Snail And thanks to macro photography, I now know what the eye of a slug looks like

  11. I'm currently accessing the internet from a hotel lobby in Stewart, BC. I've been up here since Saturday and I'm up here photographing Grizzly Bears in Hyder, Alaska, a 5 minute drive away.........here is just a teaser of what's to come once I get back in Vancouver at the end of the week......enjoy

  14. baiting isn't an option since I'm in a provincial park and dump bears aren't all that attractive to photograph....I know there's bears where I'm at....It's just a matter of right place at the right time.....which will hopefully come soon lol
  15. Hey everybody, in my last post I mentioned I was trying to photograph black bears. So far this has not been going too well. I'm finding lots of tracks and droppings, and have seen ONE bear but still not exactly what I'm looking for. I have this idea of the photo I want in my head but it's becoming quite a lengthy process to achieve that goal. So to pass the time while I'm not seeing bears, I started a Bear Video Blog ...... here is the first blog of hopefully not too many..... Once the bears start hitting the berries they'll be a lot more predictable and more approachable so hopefully it's only a matter of time before I get that photo I want.... enjoy Brandon
  16. both...but right now, a really really low paying job lol....it's my fulltime job when I'm not doing my regular mon-fri full time job
  17. I've been searching for bears to photograph lately so I haven't really been taking that many photos, since I haven't seen that many bears. I followed a small brown colour phase black bear late last week but still didn't get close enough for the shot I'm looking for. Other than the first photo, the other 2 are just scenes I saw while searching for bears and thought they would look cool in black and white so I had to give it a shot...enjoy
  18. Can't go wrong with Canon....and looks like your putting it to good use so far

    Fireworks

Bikini models eh?.....and here I am taking pictures of nature lol....and congrats on the contest win. And Dan, I was starting off with long exposure but I began to notice the trail of each firework as it went up so I was able to predict when each one would go off which allowed me to use a shorter exposure time....but your trick about covering the lens may come in handy
