  1. Mrs Splashhopper asked me if I wanted anything from the mall today.. Not even sure if I heard the rest of the conversation after she said "mall" . All I "heard" was...honey... I am going to the mall.. you may as well go fishing So I drove 15 minutes, fished 15 minutes, drove back home It was "almost" the best 15 minutes of my life ! I arrived to find this > and this >> Hmmm.... That's a LOT of mud from last nights rain... So I walk about 200 yards and find this (note the sunshine and the pond scum)>> PERFECT ! I set up my rod and throw the "scum frog" in to THE SCUM and wait "5 steamboats" and then give it a little twitch.. WHAMMO.. and a miss give a few more "steamboats" and another little twitch to see if its still there... WHAMMO.. .AND ANOTHER MISS geeeshhh... now i am getting a little worried.. A couple of "steam boats" later and WHAM... the rod damned near came out of my hand I SET THE HOOK hard ! and bring my PB Large-mouth Bass in >>> and here is its bucket >> The picture doesn't do it justice at all... it was 18" and thick thick thick. Nobody on the trail at that moment to take a pic for me... I hurried up and got it back in the water to live another day. So, I decide to try the "Scum Frog" on the SCUM again... see if it's lives up to its name again Sure enough..... first cast and KAPOW ! fISH ON and I bring this little one in (average for this place) ( this time a hiker was passing by and snapped a quick pic for me) The sad thing about that last one was that the lure was so far down its throat I couldn't get the hook out. I bled it out and brought it home for my neighbor just to get the "SCUM FROG" back. Just as I get ready for my third cast.... CRACK.. BANG... BOOM... CRASH and holy crap.... a cloud burst right above me... I was soaked in a matter of seconds.... That was the end of a "perfect guilt free Sunday of fishing" for me.... LMAO.. Can i say it any louder folks..... I am HOOKED on Top-WATER fishing in the sloppiest crap I can find !! Splashhopper
  2. For all of us newbies to Top-Water fishing.... can you veterans please post some pics for us of: 1) Fish you caught 2) pics of the type of water you are fishing in 3) pics & names of the lures you like Here are a couple of my recent shots(23" smallie): and it was caught on the edge of this > Locally, I am using black / white / green Scum Frogs in conditions like this: with a dark frog , I caught this in the slop Having a "blast"! Not getting much sleep though, dreaming of the next BIG BLAST Please post those pics of "blasts from the slop" if you can. Thanks Splashhopper

  4. no pics? use photobucket... autocrops it for you... www.photobucket.com
  5. nice pics... That picture of the rain through the windshield looked like a drizzle compared to the downpour we went through off Lake Huron at 9:30pm.. It was so bad we couldn't see the lines on the road
  6. I second that one Chris...
  7. welcome aboard.... but keep that rod away from me
  8. nice smallie... the young guy musta had fun with those pike. We were fishing a short ways from you and missed the rain and the lightning... could here it in the distance though... got caught in it real bad on the way home... had to slow down to 30 k on the highway with the 4-way's on.

  10. I tried the Spro Frog.... too hard a body ...? Been up almost every weekend... Gonna be 45 minutes south of you Today too with my buddy for some bassin on the back roads. Check your last PM from me for my toll free number if you want to meet up someplace. Splashhopper
  11. Went out to the local pond tonight and tried a new spot there... Using top-water "Scum Frogs" (white and black) Lots of action in the slop... nothing in the open water First retrieve through this stuff and BANG !.... fish on/ fish off Reeled in the frog with a PILE of weeds on it.... had me fooled for a second thinking maybe I still had the fish ..lol A few more casts and ... BANG ,, ,another one takes the frog... down I wait and wait... set the hook( so I thought) and poof... I am retrieving more weeds... This happened 3 more times till I Finally got this one Note the weeds in its bucket.. I am using 30lb Power pro with an Abu Garcia reel and Abu Garcia Workhorse( stiff) rod... Questions for you Top-Water guys 1) Ever since I started using this new rod... I seem to have less success in setting the hook.. Any suggestions for the timing on the hooksets... other than,. wait till i feel it? 2) When fishing in this slop...am I going to miss more hook-ups because the fish is exploding through that stuff? 3) Any suggestions for slop water fishing other than the frogs I am using? Thanks Splashhopper
  12. Just keep your SOCKS on... she will never know you paint your toenails then "Metroman"
  13. Great report... How do you film while you are bringing a fish in? some kind of attachment to your head/chest to hold the camera? Your reports make some of the WFN shows look like they copied "mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" shows... keep em coming.... splashhopper
  14. excellent report... keep em coming
  15. Should we contact Dollarama for some "prizes" ? Oh,,, i really wanna win that kewl hat and mitt combo for my hike into the trout locations this fall
  16. How about a "regional" thing? Ie: Southwestern Ontario (519 area code- Kitchener down to Windsor) GTA (416 & 905 area codes) Eastern Ontario ( Oshawa and east) Northern ( 705 area code -Barrie and north of there) All other members, from outside of Ontario, can join in the region of their choice. Any thoughts ? Splashhopper and Botbot
  17. " If we don`t have a Dollarama thread we can just post reports with Dollarama in the title. Attention Moderators >>>>> see above >>>>> Please give us a sticky to start this... "If we really want to do this right we should spend an extra $10 and go to goodwill at the same time and get some sweet swag to accompany our sweet fishing tackle." Hmmmm.. .why do you think i "need" to spend another $10.00 on some new "swag"... the missus says I look like a redneck already
  18. I second that
  19. Dollarama has fishing gear? Maybe we could start up a regional thing.... or... a rider for the tourney here... but you have to show the pic of the fish with the actual lure and line attached to it.... ie... Team IntensityDollardaysofsuummer
