  1. Very cool Al. Fresh off our trip I can say the fun of Nipigon never grows old. The specks are awesome through and through. Report to come.
  2. I'd still prefer that the next time you're in the area killing time that you and Leah do it at our place.
  3. Don't worry you two. Once I report it'll feel like you were there too. You guys were both up to your eyeballs with other things this summer. I knew that.
  4. Can't believe this post got 4 replies. What is wrong with these people??? Anyways Chris. Thanks for posting. Nice to see you, Leslie and the girls sharing the summer holidays like this.
  5. WOW!!! So that was you talking with my buddy Big-O. I was standing right there on the shore beside him while you and him were yelling back and forth. Too bad I didn't recognize you, nor you me... I guess. Great trip for ya. You guys worked the water well and didn't mind catching fish right in front of us.
  6. Very very cool HD. And big congrats to ya. Soon it'll be your turn to entertain the in-laws on this side. They should enjoy the fishing more.
  7. Great vacation dood. Some nice fish and a fun report.
  8. Holy Crikey Bennie!!! That's a Beauty. And still so much season left to take an even bigger one if ya want.
  9. Not too shabby at all. Good fishing.
  10. Remember Jacques... that's your grow "and possession" limit. You've gotta do up a serious amount of croutons to rid yourself of the garlic you have, before you can go out and grow anymore.
  11. Shooting for Nip myself. May see Bill on his way out. We'll fish again though... you've got an infectious sense for adventure I like. Bought a house. Yep. Done deal. Moving this wednesday. Next stop... furniture shopping, followed by boat and ATV. Kept the Warcanoe... that oughtta turn some heads on the Ottawa River. lol.
  12. They're both brutal fisheries that can at times give ya a great day. Go to Temagami. There's no one up there this year as the American's are broke and not traveling, and the Torontonians think fishing in the north is a trip to Barrie. (I got this inside info ya know) Both lakes are nice and scenic with lots of camping.
  13. Didn't even have to leave the house to catch'em. That's a quality fishery right there dood. lol.... nice specks.
  14. Yes, sadly the magazine is finished... forever I don't know. But for now, yes. Very much enjoyed reading and writing for EA and wish all those involved a future full of big toothy fish.
  15. One of your best reports Mike. Would have been even better with more pics of your wife. I'm most happy this trip worked out for you. The kids seemingly managed to have perfect fun and you got some fish for yourself with friends. Ya did a helluvalot better running those rapids than Billy did. And the spot doesn't seem too fished out at all. You probably scared them into the deeps when ya jumped overboard to catch 'em. Haha. Good stuff man, enjoyed this one.
  16. She'll keep going strong to 180 if she keeps breathing that night air under the stars. Short and sweet TJ. Nice.
  17. Geeezus.... I didn't see the kid one. I know some were on fire with the Renegade post. There's some mouthin' in the kayak post. Couple recent threads people have been a little too jumpy around here. Must be that the anglers here are out fishing, and the wannabe anglers are sitting miffed at their computers waiting to pizz on peeples parrades. Here's a bottle of chill pills. Over the counter... no prescription needed. Help yourselves.
  18. Have two 15's. My two stroke is noisy and stinks. My four stroke is not. My two stroke Johnson is light at 75lbs, my Honda's a little heavier around 105. From a 20L tank, my two stroke gets about 75km to my four strokes 90km. I never did mind mixing the oil and gas. If I had to chose just one though, the 4-stroke would be it. For your boat go the max horsepower. For smaller 4-stroke outboards choose Honda first... the rest in whatever order ya want. However, if you think you'll be boating in places where a solid lower end is important for taking the odd bump... choose Honda or Johnson before Merc or Yamaha.
  19. Ahhhhh the old eyeball pike hold. Actually, it still lives on strong in the north, thank Gawd. Hey, they're garbage fish anyway, right. lol. j/k
  20. I'll just stop by, sit my widening arse down in your Lund and that'll likely correct "our" troll speed. Nice purchase Mike. It'll be perfect once you sort out this little glitch.
  21. Got one cavity when I was a kid so had it filled. 2 years ago the tooth got sensitive. In May it finally broke but the filling stayed in. I went to the dentist 3 weeks ago. He removed the old filling, put in a new one, and remodeled the tooth with extra filling. $160.00. You got robbed.
  22. Bren's and my deepest sympathies to you, Leah and yours. Very sorry to hear.
  23. Some people sure do live in paradise. Excellent recount of the adventure. I can't believe how many huskies I see with two different eyes. Some huge lakers... makes trips like that worth it. Ya pull spoons, flatfish or jig'em up. Yellowknife surely was an interesting place when I went through. My friends tried convincing us to come to work there for the hospital....... now I'm thinking I may have to look into some contract work. A buddy of mine makes trips like the one you did. Has a boat there. Works for FirstAir at the hangar and his fiance for the hospital. I like that town but man... that's some real short softwater season. Bren and I are saving the Aeroplan points. We will have enough for next year... and she wants another pampering with Plummers, but this time on Slave. If we can manage it with our new jobs we'll try for an extended stay in the city. Thanks for the report.
  24. Just a quick check-in here... back to house hunting tomorrow. My sunday fish on St. Anthony and monday on Williston went OK... caught some smaller pike and had a big big blowup and miss on a black buzzbait. Definitely put some miles on. Enjoyed Larder area quite a bit. Beautiful up there, busy too. But that's what makes Solopaddler adventures so special, as, you're always willing to step away from the crowds at a moments notice. Getting into the back lake was well worth the adventure and maybe even the few knocks on the Hondas. You and Bill sure are both hard on your hands when you fish too. lol. Thanks for the invite again Mike. Was a pleasure meeting you, Bill and Frank. Hope to do it again sometime.
  25. Is this Whittle Lake in a Provincial Park? It's name rings a bell. Anyways, cabin looks mint. With the weather I bet it surely made your vacation that much better. It's tough conditions across the north this spring.
