Here's our two fishing partners. Can't ya tell it's been a long day on the water ? My first Airedale. It's been a year and a half now since she's been gone and I still wish I had her back.
-
Great pics Rob. Don't forget to send some to Kevin for the Lakair Website. Good seeing ya again ... year number 2 I believe. See ya next year.

Must be NICE. Following up one fishing trip with another. Lookin' great TJ. (Lucky Bum)

Looks good. I need to see about getting one of those made for my boat. Keeps the girls cool in the hot mid-day sun.

I'll take a lunge combo please

That's just insane Congrats on the exceptional day. -
Super report Joey and sorry we missed saying "See ya next year" (got your PM). There is a super tanker out there some where. I saw her once and I think Cliff/Bly actually had her hooked for a period of time. (assuming this is the same fishing making her appearance to all of us). I went back a few times, at different times of the day, but one show is all I got. She's gonna give someone one heck of a thrill one of these days. Maybe it will be an OFC'r and we'll get to see a pic of how big she really is. Congrats on catching the two. Those are just the warm-ups for September. We'll be on the French in early September, from the 5th to the 11th, so I'm not sure if that will coincide with the fall GTG or not. If it does, maybe we'll pop up for a bit to say Hi. If not - we'll see ya next year. We may alter our plans a bit to stay just a bit longer next year. Patsy had to get back early this year due to other vacations in her department, or we would have stayed a few more days.

Having never been on Facebook, I signed up to check it out. So, how do you get to this "group" ? EDIT: DUH. I think I found it.

Good post Spiel. It's good for all of us to pay thanks to the many to contribute to a very fine prize table and to all those who make it all happen. Good times that I'm glad to be a part of. Question: Any thoughts if we'll keep it as the fourth Satuday or back to the third for next year ?

Thanks folks. We kinda missed the Canada Day fireworks at Lakair (or so I'm told). Kinda stinks to have to come home for one day of work this week - or we'd still be there. Hey Rick - Hope things are going well for ya.

I E-mailed a few pics, but didn't take all that many this year. Hope Kickingfrog reads this post as I've seen some of his pictures and they'll make some great additions for you. -
So that's what a 50 looks like ? Now I want one. Congrats on the catch Larry.

We'll after waiting a year, our annual OFC Lakair GTG has come and gone. Wait for so long and in the blink of an eye, its just a memory .. but a good one. This was my third GTG and Patsy's second. As usual lots of good times, good friends, some evening camp fires, fish fry, sharing stories, fishing, and so much more. Patsy really had a great time this year - so much more so than last year. The excitement and enthusiasm is still high, so I hope she can sustain that until next year. We're even talking about extending it a bit - longer than a single week. That - I can handle. Fishing-wise, I was in search of another musky, hoping to beat my current PB of 43. But, such was not to be this year. I did have a huge ski follow a bucktail into the boat. Quick into figure 8 and she just mosied on by. Kept it going and a few seconds later, she came back around. Just not interested at all and never to return again. I think that would have greatly bested my 43. I think we were fishing in the same general area. Heard a lot of splashing around their boat on one occassion, so maybe it was her. I wonder if this was the same fish that Cliff/Carol hooked up with as they mentioned a huge musky in their report. Dang shame it spit the hooks, I would have loved to see a pic of that girl. We only caught pike during our quest and I even managed to catch a pike during the pike derby - after being totally skunked my first two years. Here's a couple, including the silver pike caught during the derby. Most we in the high teens or low twenties, so no sense in taking a pic of all of them. Just some of the hopefulls getting ready for the pike derby, Annual fish fry. Lots of friends and stories. During the day, out in the bays, we pull up onto an island the let the 4-legged girls do their business and burn off some steam. They really enjoy stretching their legs, running around, and sniffing everything in site. Along the north shore, before Merganzer Bay, we pulled up on one of the islands and there were quite a few Inukshuk built and scattered along the shore lines. There was a rock on the Western side that had the word Muskie scratched into it. Never seen so many in a single area. A boat load of girls: Couple scenery shots. I think this says it all and why we love the area so much. We really look forward to this GTG and anxiously awaiting next year already. Was great to see all our old friends again and even met a few new OFC'rs this year. Until next year ... good fishing ya all.

Hey Pete ... where abouts were ya when you smacked the rock ? I hit a shoal out in South Muskrat. I knew it was in the area, but thought it was closer to shore than I was. Fortunately, I was going fairly slow and bang, bang, bang ... OH DAMN. I checked the lower unit and only a few little dings and no real damage done. (WHEW !!!). Next time, maybe I'll have the darn thing turned on so I can see where I marked the shoals. Oh yeah .. great seeing ya again this year.

Lakair 2009 Two weeks just isnt Enough!!! Pic Heavy...

Great seeing you again Mike and allow me to add my congrats to ya on your first musky. Remember - it only takes one to get you hooked. I saw two while I was there, but neither one was hungry at the time. Great to see a couple fine friends were able to land one. -
Fantastic day - Congrats. I guess we too often return to the spots that have been productive in the past or where other have been and neglect other less fished spots. Just goes to show what we're missing.
-
I'm not sure. You'll have to ask my Mom and Dad.
-
Appreciate all the effort TJ - great times as usual. Patsy really had fun this year as well - even more so than last year.
-
Smashing Bly. I believe Patsy and I were in the same area when you hooked into her. We saw the heavy=duty splashing around over at your boat and figured you must have hooked into a big one. You mention about a 50+ you had a tangle with. I wonder if that was the one that followed my lure in on Friday. Huge fish from what I saw, but she just took a passing glance and kept right on moving. Again - congrats on the ski and remember ... that other one is still out there. See ya all next year.
-
Patsy and I picked up 10 new Booyah spinners. (We'll give them a try and those that do not work, we'll donate to the price table)
-
My wife and I were trilling for Musky on the French a couple years ago and we went through a thick weedbed. She said she was caught or the lure was full of weeds. Stopped the boat to check and as she pulled what seemed to big a big mess of weeds, a nice sized musky came to the surface about 10 yards out. A few rolls and she must have hit the line as ... SNAP and she was gone. Looked to be a nice size ... maybe high 30's (inches) / give or take. (I'll let the explatives that followed out of the post). Good on you Maureen ... If I am correct, I remember the event from Lakair last year.
-
Patsy whipped up a big container of baked beans. After dinner, we'll all run down to the lake and make our own OFC bubble bath
-
That's a great specimen there Mepps and great coloring. Congrats and, oh yeah, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

And that's good enough for me. Very interesting story. Reading that, I can recall one of Samoset's newsletters describing the history of their camp. Interesting the stories of the various fishing camps and how they came to be. Thanks for sharing Kevin.

Two years ago was my first time. Came up to see what this is all about. Camped for the first time and came with no boat. Let me say, I had a great time. Everyone made me feel welcome and there were many offers to share other's boats. Over the course of week, I may have fished with about a dozen other members and their families. I think there was only one day, early in the week, that I didn't have a ride - but that's OK. Made lots of friends and made a few more last year. I understand there are others coming in for their first time this year, even a group from my home state of PA. It's a great time and I too look forward to it each year. Lots of great fishing around and you just can't beat the evening camp fires, Bull sessions, and sharing of stories. Yeah ... it's a just an all around great time. Oh yeah, let's not forget the OFC Saturday Pike Derby, Prize Table, fish fry, and picnic. (Leaving in just 3 days) Art, Joe, Glen ... gonna miss you guys this year.

Quite a few of the OFC folks have a little GTG on Quinte in the fall as well. Haven't attended that one, so I hope my memory is serving we well on this one.
