i agree i forgot to mention that during the winter you can go from lake to lake through the bush ...cant do that with the boat -
whats your favorite time of the year to fish? its been a few years now that ive come to realise that ice fishing for me has become my favorite fishing time of the year... even though i just purchased my dream boat 3 years ago.. yes i love the feeling of being on the open water with blue skies and having a cold one....yes it is nice real, nice..... i bought a new skidoo last year after having older used ones and yes this did also help me in making my decision about my favorite season...skidoos are awsome...so now i fly down the lake punch a few holes drop the vexilar look for fish and if theres no fish i move on and punch another hole untill i find them and then wait for the bite..."tight lines"

c mon wayne you can do it... what are you crazy..its temagami opener...no really i never fish the opener this will be my first year actually...i like to fish last week in feb or first week in march thats my favorite time..but with work i had no choice this year....luckly friend of mine ..monty said i could stay at his place this year or i would have had a hard time finding a place to stay....and guess what he lives on bear island... i find that a good spot to start from.. lots of choices for fish and some very close ones with nice fish...

flasher first... x67c second... and camera third... dont forget with the camera you have to put the camera a 100 feet down the hole and when you move you have to bring all that cable back up..with the flasher and other sonar you just lift the tran out of water and your on your way to a new hole

Full Moon....how was your fishing today?

fishing was great yesterday..was on simcoe and caught my first whitefish off of snake island -
i just switched from a lowrance 67c ice machine to a vexilar fl-18 and i gotta tell you the vexilar wins.. when you get the fish close to your bait it turns red and that is a pretty good indication that the fish is really close almost on top or below you...not to mention the live action from your bait is very visable...my 67c showed clouds of fish close to the bottom...it did not always mark my bait and when i changed screens to flasher mode i found that the slightest interferenc from other fish finders would not allow me to use it properly... it never really showed how close fish was to bait even though i played around with noise reduction most of the time the flasher mode was still not as good as the vexilar ..i give the advantage to the vexilar even though the technology is older or simpler....
