  1. I'll be there on the 16th come heck or high water. Free tickeys would be swell. Jim
  2. In 1992 I had to go to Japan for work. I was in Kyoto for six weeks and it really sucked (once you got over the "hey, I'm in Japan!" thing). Anyhow, one night I wandered into this bar called Pub Africa and it was full of westerners. A great bunch of people that I could actually talk to. All we did was drink beer, smoke cigarettes, and watch concert videos projected onto a large screen (were DVD's out back then?). I remember seeing The Wall (Floyd) and this great Cindy Lauper concert video. I spent the rest of my time trying to get to know a cute little blond from Ottawa better. No luck with the blond, but fantastic memories of those music movies. Thanks for dredging them up. Jim
  3. That is a classic. Thanks for sharing it. Jim
  4. Bingo! I didn't mention the name originally cause I didn't want to see this . But I was quite pleasantly surprised with the favourable pricing. Jim
  5. If somebody farts on the ice and you are not close enough to hear them does it still make a sound? (maybe pollywogg could look that up). Jim
  6. Isn't the motor alone worth that? Step away from the computer. Jim
  7. Is it Misfish, or Miss Fish? That dish looks fantastic. There used to be a good little Indian restaurant in Barrie, on the main drag near Hooters. Is it still there? Jim
  8. Great pic's! Welcome aboard. Jim
  9. You know, I hate the cold. Hate it. But there are times when ice fishing looks so cozy, and this is one of them. Nice pictures. Jim

    PORN!

Congrats Stoty! That boat is slicker than a Wiesel's privates. You have no idea how much better your summer just got. Jim
  11. What type of box (or boxes) do you put those in? At the risk of thread jumping here, I find the soft-sider/plastic box combos to be a little inefficient. I find that the compartments are too wide even with adjustable lengths, so that you end up quadrupling up Rapalas in each compartment (or buying four bags). Jim
  12. The Teflon post. A brilliant post Jim! Not nearly as riveting as the "tail up, or tail down" debate, but very interesting. Jim
  13. He certainly looks like he's raring to go! Your older one is a real combo eh?
  14. Congratulations! Great news, and I am glad he is home where he belongs. I am with the others as far as Sick Kids goes. Best wishes! Jim
  15. Hi all, This is one of those posts where I am just throwing it out there to see what sticks. I have been looking at rods for a while now, trying to figure out what you get for what kind of money, are they worth it? etc, etc. And the other day I found myself at a local fishing store that happens to have a great selection of St. Croix rods. I was surprised to find that their prices for the new St. Croix's were within $10.00 of Cabela's. By the time you figure in shipping and exchange, you'd be daft to order from the big "C" (or am I missing something?) I am not bashing the practise of ordering from the states (I've done it loads myself), but I was really surprised to find what I did. Could it be a hangover from the dollar parity of last year? Jim
  16. Keep 'em coming Bernie (and everyone else). I can't get enough of those old photos. Jim
  17. That is a nice alternative Solo (and about $25 to boot!), thanks for the info. Jim
  18. I guess that it is a UL type reel that I am ultimately after. The trick is that the stem would have to be short enough for him to easily use (he is six). He has used a spin-cast up to now, but I would like to get him into a spinning outfit (so I can start giving him my cast-offs). Thanks to all for your great input! Jim
  19. Hi all, Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a spinning reel for kids? I am thinking it might be the size of an ice fishing reel but with a larger spool Thanks, Jim
  20. I just watched the mall speech with my six year old son. I feel like my parents must have felt when watching Kennedy speak. I found it moving. My son asked if all of the people in America are dark skinned, then said that the new president was cute. At our school today, the principal moved exams out of the library so that the students would have a place to watch the inauguration. All in all, a very cool day to witness. Jim
  21. Looks yummy. For the uneduacted (me) what is "savory"? Thanks for the post. Jim
  22. Let's see......55 x 2 + 30...140 degrees!! That's too hot, I'm glad I am up here. Jim
  23. Absolute magic. Thanks for sharing an experience like that. Jim
  24. I self launch (16 footer) by backing the boat down until the fenders are just under the water. Then climb down the tongue of the trailer to the nose of the boat and do the push-off-jump-on trick. Tie the boat to the dock and go move the van. Self launching is a dawdle with a bit of practise. Nice picture BTW, just replace that tiller with a side console and you've got yourself a boat
