  1. I have a bottle of "Smelly Jelly" that I got a while ago but seldom use. It ends up making everything but the inside of a fish's mouth, stink. Charlie Wray is always touting their virtues. And while I love Charlie, I am way too much of a cynic to think that it is anything but sponsor stroking. I would love to find out that they did work though if only so I won't feel quite so daft for buying one. Jim
  2. You forgot to include $0. Jim
  3. You'd better smile when you say that. Jim
  4. I have seen other centre pinners that lube the bearings by soaking them in the creek that they are fishing in while they take a picture. Jim
  5. Thanks, now I see it. That does look good! Thanks again. Jim
  6. I went to the link and could not find an article that mentioned Excell. What did I miss? I have been thinking about a budget too (obviously). I have a feeling that I will be shocked at what goes out the door and into the LCBO and the near north cottage industry. I am trying to whittle down the mortgage so Will inherits a legacy not a debt. The money has to come from somewhere so I am hoping the budget will help to identify where. Thanks to all that replied (I am a bit surprised though that there are not more using some form of free software. And a bit surprised that there are so many excell users. Or more surprised perhaps that I never got into excell) Jim
  7. I have no story to relay about replicas etc. but am thrilled that you are pursuing it. You will have something to talk about for the rest of your life. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Jim
  8. Hi all, Is there any software that you use (preferably free) to create and track a household budget? Thanks! Jim
  9. Isn't it amazing that you just spent time in a place where women can't even show their face, only to come home and have your fishing behind kicked by one. Is this a great country or what? Jim
  10. I love those shots, thanks for posting them. Jim
  11. I am sorry for your loss Joey. Keep fond memories close at hand. Jim
  12. I use one that extends as well but has the full rubber mesh. It is great or getting hooks out of and I have not had a fish complain yet! Also purchased from Canadian Tire. Jim
  13. Did it have a cowling when he left? Did it have one when he returned? Come on man, what is the marina owner supposed to think, I mean honestly. I don't think the discussion is whether or not he is liable, but more what is a reasonable amount. No? Jim
  14. What is the fishing equipment like Cliff? Do they have Rapalas, dozens of rods and reels, and shops full of tackle (meaning are their fishermen as gullible as us)? Jim
  15. Well fill us in man. Where are you? Have you found work? Is there a Timmy's near by? You have become a man of few words. Jim
  16. So have you moved out east Pure, or have you taken to fishing in peoples wishing wells? Jim
  17. Of course we'll take your word for it. Anyone from team 8 is an upstanding individual who's integrity is beyond reproach. Jim
  18. The short answer Jughead is no. Anybody that wants out of that organized insanity is okay by me and welcome to hang their hat here (as long as it isn't made out of Kevlar). Jim
  19. Wow really? I always use plastic for walleye, then usually tip it with a worm or a minnow. So you have a jig head, then space, then a worm head dangling from the hook? I think that there are more ways to catch walleye than you can shake a stick at. Jim
  20. That picture should be in a pamphlet somewhere, it is a gorgeous shot. Nice job as always on the fishing and the report. Jim
  21. I have thought about this a bit more after reading the responses and am starting to be swayed a bit from my original reply. I guess that you might also have to consider the marina owners time in finding, obtaining, and installing the cover. As well as lost income as I am assuming that he can't rent that boat out until it is repaired. When you get over the sticker shock and start to look at it carefully, perhaps $800 goes pretty quickly. Jim
  22. I've even tried that. It is tough to find everyone with weekends available this time of year (hockey has started don't ya know and it's fall fair season). I am not the type to hook up with new guys too much (not for overnighters at least) which is what keeps me from posting something on here in the way of an invite as some have in the past. The trip to Doe is a Brother-in-law trip so that one will be well attended. The cabin at Rice is a little two manner anyway so I think that I might go solo on this one and enjoy a little down time. Hopefully I will have some photos to post. Jim
  23. Is it just me or is anyone else feeling that the season is wrapping up super early? I am dying to get to a cottage again and am trying to book something at Rice for next weekend and Doe for Oct 16 & 17. Those pictures that TJ posted last week really got me thinking of heading somewhere. So much so that I begged the wife and son to head up for a weekend and was rejected!! You know you've got it bad when your seven year old says "Dad, enough with the cottages already, I'm done for this year". I think the lack of flat time on Erie this year put a big old kink in my local fishing season. I am guessing it was the same for habitual Erie dwellers like Lexxington et al. Anywho, sorry to ramble. It's a boring Saturday night in old Calebogey. Regards, Jim
  24. First your ear, then the giant pike, that guy doesn't throw anything back! Jim
