  2. What's next? Banning Stanley cup contenders :rofl2: Seriously though, what a complete shame, kids can only access fishing from shore most times. Pathetic
  3. Anyone know where I can get these housings for a Magnum 10A Cannon downrigger? The motors work great as does the rest of the rigger, but the housing is so old that it is disintegrating and it won't hold the motor in place. Thanks
  4. I'll give you all the help I can Mike! Lets talk Better yet, lets get out, my boat, BR Lakers 101
  5. Got out early this morning with my bud Ian and his fisher daughter. Ian joined me earlier this year for his first Laker outing and we had a blast, caught lots of fish and even boated a tanker. 6am I met Ian at his place and we loaded his gear and off we went, a short 1.25 hr drive and we met our bud Dan at the launch, Dan would be fishing with his boat and his 5yr old son Ryan. Strategy was to jig up some lakers from a few of Dans honey holes, with a backup of downrigging if the jig didn't produce. After 1.5 hrs of jigging, with one small one caught on the drop and seeing on the sonar that the Lakers were not on bottom, we switched to trolling. Amy's first Laker, and a nice one at that! Ians 6.5lber, we need to work on the hold lol A decent eater! We went 4 for 10, kept 3 and let a small one back to the water. We had 3 really nice ones up to within sight of the boat but weren't able to keep them from shaking the hooks, Still an awesome day, Amy got her first Laker and Ian almost beat his pb! Dan and his son limited out in about 2.5hrs and left for home. Not bad for 4 hrs fishing
  6. Ditto Ron, would love to come down and see ya! Been a while
  7. Was at a lake with no Muskies , so whattya do? Bass fish! It started out good and we had some fun, all released, some big ones caught and we lost some giants, they were loving the frogs in the slop and even some spinnerbaits. Lots of fun, last year I got a couple back to back nickles, not so this year, but still some decent fish
  8. Then we have nothing to worry about !!!! :w00t:
  9. When all the sacrifices have been made, that will be the end of time!
  10. Too bad JVR's career is over now that he's a laff!
  11. Its all relative to the frequency of the action. IMO.
  12. Fish, beef and likely pork to start, once I get the hang of it, I'll expand. I looked at the green egg but too expensive, I've got a kick ass Weber bbq so I was thinking a simple, not too expensive smoker. Thanks for the replies
  13. I'm in the market for a smoker and there are plenty of choices, so I figured I'd ask for some input. What is better, gas, electric or charcoal? Are the bradley briquettes as good as wood chips? Whats the cost to run difference between electric and propane? What brand would you recommend? What spices would you recommend? Thanks for your input!
  14. Don't worry, now that the cross border shopping has been changed, Canadian retailers are going to have a hard time to stay afloat, watch how many "going out of business" signs will be in Canadian store fronts and the economy will tank. Way to go Harper!! Next he's going to attack the environment!!
  15. If the Laff fans are pulling for Jersey then it's go Kings for me!!
  16. I haven't used dipsys in over 10 years to be honest. I just like to fool proof of the downriggers
  17. 2 came on 3" williams silver wobblers with silver flash tape on 1/2, 1 came on a 3" silver mooselook and 1 came on a 5" silver williams whitefish spoon. All fish came out of 50'-60' of water in 150' depth
  18. Simply awesome!!
  19. First time in the boat this season, I took a couple buds out to the Big Rideau and was hoping to hook up on some lakers. Boat wwas in top shape but the downriggers were a bit off, I think it's rebuild time. Neither of my buds had ever caught a Lake Trout before so I was hoping to have a couple firsts in the boat. The lakers didn't disappoint. We went 4 for 4 with the biggest going back into the drink.(too big to eat) Ians first laker ever Another decent one , fought hard, couldn't find my "Leafs suck" shirt so had to go with the "Go Sens Go" shirt! Good times on the water but boy it got hot fast, had to get off early. Can't wait to get back out for some for the smoker!
