  1. If you just want to try it, then rent them a few times to see how much you really like it. If you want to actually make it a method of fishing, then spend the way you would on your other serious pursuits. There are free demo days all across the province this summer. One thing for certain is that you will have no problem getting rid of a good fishing kayak, should you decide later on that it isn't for you.... that's why you can't find a good used one. 12' or shorter for small rivers, small lakes and ponds. 13' and longer for larger rivers, lakes and the great lakes. good luck!
  2. nice! You caught up my way? That should have tested the new gear well.
  3. agreed, after just seeing them that size in the MNR tank at the Sportsman Show. nice fish!
  4. Fishing Fanatics on Albert St, Waterloo
  5. Can't help you on Ontario Place parking, except that their lots were all empty close to the show. 12 skins for parking. I just got back a half hour ago. I'd say it's slightly better than a lot of recent ones with regards to decent sale items. Some good deals on quality baits and lures. Everything else seemed per norm. Hot buy - Gulp $18ea. I won't say who, but they're in Hamilton.
  6. some great looking fish guys!
  7. I think they call those "man-dates" now. Good effort guys.
  8. Went fishing at Port Albert today after not seriously fishing it for a number of years now. Saw 8 fish landed... 5 by one guy .... he was the only one with chartreuse roe bags. I had a brief hook-up on a streamer, but that was it. I drove back towards Blyth and stopped at one of my favourite spring steelie creeks to check things out. Lots freshies' moving around in the dirty water. I also found this cute little dude hanging around; not sure if it is a marten or a fisher? I'm sure someone here will know. He had a little spat with his wife over the rock bass he caught, but I wasn't camera-ready to catch it. It was pretty cool to watch it mow down the fish without it knowing I was looking at it.... wish I'd had the better camera.
  9. Huh, whatchu talkin bout Willis? Surely you're not knocking the Niagara fishery....
  10. did the first three come on that one cigarette Jack? Nice job!
  11. sweet! tasty looking thing too. Way to show them fishes with some persistence.
  12. Make certain of the day(s) you go because the ice bridge let go two days ago.... could make for crap fishing on the lower for a few days.
  13. SCOTTY makes them for kayaks and I believe canoes too. But I'm pretty sure you'd need to order them.
  14. Tough loss for sure Bernie, sorry to hear. Faithful and just like family members.
  15. it was a great finish to the game allround!
  16. totally wide open everywhere... just passed over the skyway an hour ago. All the ice has shifted to the south side of the lake from Stoney Creek to Niagara, for now.
  17. Sorry to hear that Jacques. take care.

Some nice clean looking ones there JWL... can't wait for my next chance to get out there again. water colour looks stellar!
  20. Not sure what you meant by this? Been using 8lb since the early 90's... no complaints. Side casting from centrepins and on spinning reels. But if you insist on spending more for line... just one persons opinion of course.
  21. Wow! I read half last night and the other half today. Very good... or I wouldn't have read the whole thing. Sure gets me pumped about pike fishing this spring.
