  1. I don't notice the lack of tunes until nothing is biting for a while... maybe I'll experiment with what tunes are on when the bite is hot or cold lol
  2. Crestliner pre-wires EVERYTHING! Speaker wires were already in place and labelled, power wires coiled neatly and came with butt connectors just waiting to be crimped, everything was so neat and tidy under the dash I felt bad cutting off a few factory zip ties to free up the wiring. A few crimps, some shrinktube, and a fuse in the panel and I was rocking the driveway. Easiest install I've ever done!
  3. Went with the Jensen MS30, since it was just about the only radio that would fit the space I had, and Clarion marine speakers.
  4. If you are only 'toying' with the idea of selling I would go high and see what sort of interest you generate. There is another Stratos for sale in the classified section of this board, bit bigger than yours but it looks like it's been up for a while. Bass boats seem to be a niche market. Another thing to consider is if you are planning to get a new boat, what would be the rock bottom price you would need to get for yours to make the new boat a reality. If you are putting it up on Kijiji be prepared for some insultingly low offers. Even if you think that this might be the best offer you're going to get, stick to your bottom line price. I was prepared to walk over $100 when I sold mine last summer. (Threw in half a jug of 2 stroke engine oil and an old black and white fish finder and the buyer was happy) I knew what I needed to get for it so my new boat would be affordable. Offer up an unused rod and reel or something else you have sitting around not being used to make you seem like the good guy but don't go past your bottom line. If they are a serious buyer and not a tire kicker, they will come up with the $$. Good luck
  5. Vote #2 for Crown batteryHad a Crown battery for 7 years on a 36lb Minnkota motor, they are great. Maintain it properly and it will last a long time
  6. Been on the angelfire site all winter lol. The Camis reservation website has a few photos of each backcountry campsite, very handy....
  7. There is a small creek behind the beach site on Welcome and depending on water levels, you may get a small trout or two back there. Been a long while since I've been there but Welcome or Louisa will be your best bets for trout
  8. Looking at a few with sandy beach areas. 17.5' Crestliner, shouldn't have too many problems with water levels I hope.
  9. Yeah, my park map shows the no motor lakes, just wondered about the G-Bay sites. Park regs only seem to define rules for overnight mooring, not camping on the sites. I guess it just means I'm using the site but not canoeing to get there? That is my best interpretation of the rules... Thanks
  10. Just wondering if you are allowed to do boat camping at the designated campsites. I was planning a canoe trip up there this year but recently (nearly a month now and improving much slower than I expected) pinched a nerve in my back so portaging, padding, and sitting for long periods is out for me for the foreseeable future. Thought boat camping would be a better option over cancellation, never been to the area before, and it's about time I paid it a visit for some fishing/camping. Thanks
  11. kinda funny also when a friend or the dentist office calls you up and asks "Umm, is uhhhh John there? Make sure they hear front and center 'Multinational investigation' they hang up fast...
  12. Oh, and on the off chance they do begin to speak, start asking them for office address, locations info, parent company names and supervisor names, explain to them there's an ongoing multinational fraud investigation into their company and employees, and he will be a big help getting everyone there arrested and brought to justice. Be relentless until they hang up, which shouldn't take very long.
  13. Any unknown number, or number blocked, private number, or even a number I don't recognize, I always answer the phone with "RCMP telephone fraud division, how can I help you?" The next thing I usually hear is a click or dial tone. This seems to work with all but the robo-calls where you've won a criuse. Haven't had a telemarketing call to my cell phone in over 2 years now, they must put your number on a 'telemarketers do not call list' and pass it along to their buddies.....
  14. Agreed, quality marine speakers will be added, wiring is already there. My Pioneer is not a marine radio otherwise I would have thought longer about doing hidden modifications and just used the remote, but I want to do things correctly from the start. Know a few people with clarion aboard, nothing bad to say about them other than my budget lol. I've got a portable SXM radio, which I intend to bring along for tunes, cheaper than a second subscription that will hardly get used! I've seen these Jensens as OEM in many new boats including the Crestliner that I have, so I know it will look decent in there.
  15. Check out autotrader.ca, thousands of new and used boats on there. I used it to buy my brand new Crestliner in July. Saved nearly $10,000 over a comparable boat listed now. You can search by year, by price, by brand, by length etc... keep at it, I looked for several months before I found the perfect boat for me. Go out to a couple of dealers and hop into a boat or 2. Look at floor space, live well size, rod storage length, other storage areas, portable or fixed gas tank, console size and features, seating.... You won't be able to get a sense of most of these things unless you are physically in the boat. I eliminated one boat that was on my short list (a very short, short list) by setting foot in the boat at a dealer. Go to a boat show and do the same to narrow things down. Good luck
  16. Have a high dollar Pioneer sitting in the closet, it won't fit with out some ugly dash modifications. Not happening on a new boat. No music on my phone (just on the kids phone....) Also not happening! This will be mainly for hooking up MY satellite radio and local cottage country weather reports while I'm out on the water fishing
  17. Been looking at putting a stereo in the new boat, read a LOT of reviews online about different brands/models and have pretty much decided on the Jensen MS3ARTL (it's the 3.5" round one) Don't need a CD player in it and have somewhat limited dash space. Does anyone have this model in their boat and if so how are you liking it? Give me some pros and cons if you have any thanks! jjcanoe
  18. If you do take the I-75 route there is a 4 lane option on US route 25E, several towns starting with Corbin KY the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pineville has big flood control barriers you need to drive through if you go into town, at Middlesboro KY you pass through the 'Hole in the Wall' aka Cumberland Gap tunnel, there is an amazing lookout on the Tennessee side. Once back onto the interstate you can continue back to Knoxville or cut south through the Great Smokey mountains towards Ashville NC. This whole stretch is one of the most scenic areas I've ever been to in the eastern US. As many have already mentioned, watch your speed on any US routes and especially when they go through a town, they basically make you pay your speeding fines on the spot or accompany you to the local courthouse to pay up.
  19. Yep avoid I-75 at all costs now, quite possibly going to be May before that stretch of highway is repaired. The posted detour takes you through some twisty mountain roads, which will be quite scenic but ALL the truck and car traffic will be on this hilly 2 lane road. Expect some major delays around there
  20. I also use a ram mount with no issues at all, quick and easy
  21. http://m.tbnewswatch.com/News/379810/Newly_constructed_Nipigon_Bridge_splits_in_cold_ Ouch! They might have wanted to keep the old one around for just such an emergency, this is the ONLY road link between eastern and western Canada.
  22. Not legal in Ontario. See ask the CO in the most recent OOD
  23. Get billed for your trailer? Call them and have the extra toll removed, worked every time for me, however don't use preauthorized billing, since you will never see the charge until they have your money, then it's hard to get it back
  24. ^^^^ what Slowpoke said. He does a LOT of trolling and I do a LOT of fishing with my Minnkota. Some times I feel I got ripped off buying a DI after seeing his SI in action. However when I thought harder about it, mine does the job I need it to for the type of fishing I do. His let's you pin point structure and weed edges from afar where mine only allows it from directly overhead. If you fish a lot of new water, or a BIG body of water like Lake St Clair or Simcoe, SI would be the way to go. It allows you to pick spots to fish you may not have noticed otherwise. DI excels when you are fishing your regular lake that you already know quite well and want to zero in on a particular piece of structure then mark it with you GPS. Both are excellent bits of technology helpful in slightly different ways.
