  1. I squeeze the eyelet of the drop shot weight tight with pliers, so it holds good, but if I do get snagged, it will still pull out and not break up higher.
  2. Where exactly does the fun part kick in?
  3. The breakthrough of braid was a marketing jackpot for the tackle industry
  4. always back your spool with mono when using braid. it should help with this issue. Having said that, I only keep one reel spooled with braid. Aside from jigging with artificials, I dont have much use for the stuff.
  5. Of course, Simon. Even though you never seem to realize it until you get there.
  6. I'm not sure of the factor, but I reckon it's not that high. I switched from mono to braid, and then to wire all in the course of one season. I don't remember the figures, but what I would do is choose a relatively shallow depth and slowly drop the dipsy down until you begin tapping off bottom. Comparing the number on the counter to the number on the chart at a few different depths should give you a good idea.
  7. this should help... http://www.web2.mnr.gov.on.ca/fish_online/fishing/fishingExplorer_en.html search for the lake or just zoom into the area yourself
  8. Suffering from one of my (read: daily) bouts of midnight-shift insomnia, I decided to muster up the energy to go fishing, at least for an hour or two, despite the past few days of unstable weather and an east wind. So I packed up the trusty bicycle and off I went... It took long enough, but was finally rewarded with a beauty Nipissing specimen (well within the slot)... Sometimes all it takes is one.... Tough to beat chunky walleye within city limits
  9. awesome report.
  10. I wanted to hide my true identity...
  11. Get the President
  12. Man, those wire dipsy hits can be unreal sometimes. Some real nice fish there
  13. Nice going. I believe I've fished that lake. Start with an S?
  14. HOGS! And out of a pontoon to boot. Nice shootin
  15. Take a look at the Rapala R-Types as well...
  16. Nice fish! The lake definitely seems to be in a state of change, with historically consistent areas running dry and new areas starting to be productive.
  17. If you're willing to put more effort into your presentation than live bait fishing, they work just as well as far as I'm concered.
  18. mmm auntie janes. There's a small place on the left when you get to Riding Stable road on 17 west of town that serves up some excellent Nipissing walleye. Forget what the place is called
  19. awesome shot!
  20. Clearly your problem is that you only have one bad habit. ...Just kidding of course. I wish you the best of luck. Maybe try a shift or two in your daily routine to aid in the process.
  21. Wow, you guys slayed 'em! Awesome report. Nice shots
  22. With heavy rains, comes an increased amount of untreated sewage entering water bodies, which means increased eutrophication, namely phosphorus, which seems to promote the growth of algae and not much else. I'd imagine lake erie gets hit with a large amount of excess agricultural fertilizer (which contains phosphorus), given its location.
  23. ...Or maybe he was overinsured for fire damage...
