Small lakes (and I mean small), will likely be fine, but deeper lakes are always dicey early in the year. Bring a spud and play it safe.

Small lakes will be fine. I was in the Tory Hill area over a week ago on about 3", and there's been plenty of cold temps since then.

The Steelheader's are nice reels. Look after it and you'll get a lifetime of use out of it. I just couldn't get over how much heavier they are than what I currently use. But if you line it up right you can get it nicely balanced making it not so noticeable.
