  1. Just starting to use the Palomar, and love it. Simple, strong, and effective, with 100% strength.
  2. Hopefully my two batteries last as long. Im the same way, in that theyre on trickle all year! especially after an outing with alot of trolling motor use. Time will tell. They actually come inside the house over winter. Damnit, they sound like pets now. lol
  3. That's funny, I was thinking of this thread and just went through it to make sure someone didn't beat me to it, but rodbender, you did. Good little SNL skit years back.....
  4. *hand clap* lol. There's one for boat humour today. Thanks.
  5. Not fishing related, but "DM pranks", and "the carbonaro effect" works for a few giggles....
  6. Although I always wear my lifejacket when in the boat, I ended up buying an auto inflatable last night. Why not make the time spent on the water even more enjoyable. Looking forward to picking it up tonight.
  7. I was dumb enough not to jump on the sale they had, at $69, regular $100, but Leisure Marine in Woodbridge carries it.(based on a kijiji ad that was up) Maybe clearing old stock, who knows or cares, but at the time, I wasn't sure of the route I was gonna take. As for the transom wood, would the big box stores carry what I need??
  8. Thanks for the tips guys. I think I'll be setting a weekend aside for the job. Was the wood expensive? And where does one find something like that? As for the rivets, I'll just hit up the Brafasco on town. With regards to the prepping, did you go the whole nine yards and wire wheel all the paint from the rivets and seams?
  9. Totally agree! They may work, but after losing a few of those, I'm sure I'd switch to something cheaper.....lol
  10. So, after calling the local Line-X dealer in town, I wasn't shocked at the price I got for spraying the underside of the boat up past the water line/rivets. Looking at the price of Gluvit, it almost makes sense to become a DIY'er job. The few questions I have, are, how much prep is required prior to application? (Besides what the container says). I have a slight water intrusion issue, nothing major. Should I tackle that first, or does this stuff work miracles?... Should I replace the transom considering I'm balls deep at this point? Last time I mounted rod holders I found wet wood. Also, what type of wood, or alternatives are there. It's looking like this boat is gonna stay with me for years to come.
  11. Good stuff CL.
  12. That same team has a bunch more that were comical to watch.
  13. Picture this scenario, where i work, at a shop rate of almost $130, could you imagine telling a customer we "think" it's bad fuel, so we'll start with a fuel sample, break the locking clip for the fuel line, and now tell the customer we haven't figured anything out yet, but to start, we need to order a fuel line. God knows how expensive parts are nowadays. Hope you solve your issues Manitoubass.... I'd be interested in knowing the outcome. I was just giving you the steps we follow to triage issues.
  14. Sorry, but the first and easiest thing to do is hook up, it's a no brainier especially when his vehicles are telling him their sick..... Cheapest also....
  15. Well I gotta say you're lucky.... Why?... Because you say the engine light is on on both. Don't jump to any conclusions, just hook up with a scanner. It's the first thing you do when the engine light is on. Possibilities are, IAC (idle air control valve, vacuum leak, bad connections somewhere causing a myriad of codes.) Just hook up, it will tell you where to start. Report back on your findings.
  16. Traction truck and trailer parts..... Or how about PA??
  17. I was at my parents place. Saw it for the first time ever. Don't watch much TV at home. Not a huge annoyance, as you are able to exit out from the alert.
  18. Thanks tizfun..... Off to Kijjiji I go, t have a look.
  19. X2..... I've constructed mine in such a way that it fits in an old pill container, housed in foam. Here I thought I was the only one....
  20. Those are both reputable marinas that I've heard of. I've dealt with Kim, down at Central Outboard. I felt he was honest and I didn't get hosed. I'll shoot them both a call for pricing. Or I just may set all this stuff up in my basement, and go at it. The only thing I'm concerned with is that I've heard gear backlash needs to be checked. And is it specs I need to know, or just make sure their mating properly...... Sigh....
  21. I appreciate the offer Ironmaker.... Looks like you're a few hours away from me. I'll definitely keep it in mind.
  22. Not to stray way off the OP, but can any of you guys recommend a good vinyl floor replacement.
  23. This definitely isn't looking good.... Thank god the current motor hanging on the back of the boat is OK. Damnit..... I may just have to learn this reassembly gig via you tube......
  24. Thanks for the insight Ironmaker...... Hopefully someone within range replies now... Lol Guess I should have posted this month's ago....
  25. Hey guys, before the softwater season gets rolling, I'm looking for someone or someplace to reassemble the lower unit of my 30HP Johnson. I have all the parts, seals, gears ready to go. The housing and all parts are cleaned and ready to reinstall. If there's anyone on here competent enough, or can refer me to a place that rebuilds these puppies, I really wanna get my spare motor back together this season. Thanks for any input....
