Sweet ride man, but aren't the Ford gawds going to be pissed! -
Thought it a bad joke when I read the news last night.

Sorry for not responding earlier but I'd like a GTG to meet some of the folks here, the 26th would have been hard pressed but a after new years is possible for sure.

NF - Charges finally laid in gas plant scandal
ckewley replied to John Bacon's topic in General Discussion
Anybody else think these charges are a complete & utter queeb to our collective faces? I know we Canadians are a very passive lot, I just want to know what it's going to take for us to stand up & say enough !!!! -
Yes the lake Brad & Steve were on has only Brookies
-
It is a Splake just has more of the Brookie characteristics , the one I caught had more of a Laker look

2015 has been a outstanding year all round, hope 2016 is half as good. Notables are; entered my first of many salmon derbies great times. Got to be a "observer" in a premiere derby. Landed a PB Lake trout on Lake O, shoulders still haven't recovered. Broke long running skunks, Steelies on the Niagara & Salmon on Bighead. Got out fishing just about every weekend. Started a new obsession with Backwoods fishing. Finally, met some incredible people through this form.

This trip has been a little while in the making & you couldn't have asked for better weather or company so the wait was definitely worth it. Chris posted a open seat for a Minden/Haliburton area trip & one guy PM'd him. I make great time getting to Chris's place on Saturday & shortly after we're on the road to meet up with Brad & Steve (sorry guy's don't know your on-line names). Greetings all round then down to business, map comes out & we start to pigeon hole it. Brad & Steve are avid backwoods guy's & have fished just about every lake in the area & some as recently as last weekend. We settle on Lake X & the target species is Splake. As soon as we hit the lake the guy's have a spot they'd hit a few weeks prior & did really well so the head over while Chris & I head to another spot. Saw one fish surface so I start chucking spinners & Chris is on worm. No luck for us but Brad & Steve tied into one quite early & nailed a few more before moving on. We wrap around the lake to a spot Chris knows & after a little while I get into one. Float goes down but I thought it was because of the bigger minnow, after a few seconds you knew it was a fish & wait a few more seconds to hopefully allow it to fully swallow the minnow. Set thew hook & bang, fish on. Fish flashes & I see half the minnow out it's mouth & think not hooked & a few seconds later he was off. Swearing ensues as I look into the deep trying to spot the bugger, not paying attention the minnow was floating on the surface boatside when WHAM he or another one hit it hard. Get him in the boat & released. We hit the shore where the other boy's were & conversations start up with ease. Talk about Lake xx & Lake yy & fish stories galore. The action seemed to die down so We decide to hit a few connected lakes to try our luck. Once we hit Lake Y it's decided we'd blow through this lake for Lake Z, beautiful lakes these were. We hit a few spots along the way with not much happening. We were to land on the island until we spied this spot & b-line for it. Great drop off but Chris would bag the only one at this spot but what a beauty it was. Lots of fishing talk later Brad brings up a secret lake that Chris knows. Brad & Steve have never fished it so Chris tells them how to make their way into this lake, too much for it to happen this day but Sunday is a whole other day. Chris receives a text on Sunday with this They hit pay dirt on this lake, nothing huge but lots of action. I think it's safe to say that us 4 will be fishing together again maybe even quite often as time allows. I echo Chris's remarks in another thread, OFC'rs are a rare breed & haven't met one that has been anything other than fantastic. Great day!! Final shot, Longmorn is a decent whisky, this 16yr replaced a far superior 15yr a few years ago, its good but the 15 was a hell of allot better

I use Teksavvy 300G & have rarely gone over 100G (Netflix + Tunnelbear) in a month, not a gamer though. Teksavvy's customer service has been fantastic the few times I've needed to use them. One thing worth mentioning as Rogers has the infrastructure in T.O. your default DNS is through them, change your DNS to Google or Open DNS or any other public DNS server & say goodbye to Rogers for good!!!!!!

Anybody want to tag along in Haliburton on Saturday? open seat
ckewley replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Lmao, awesome!!!! -
I've fished the opposite end from you, a friend has a cottage on Dignan rd. not at all familiar with the lake but did notice the huts seemed to follow a trench. Folks on the outside of the trench did poorly (us) ones on the drop off did ok. A couple of lakers & whities were caught, nothing huge but we hit the lake the night after a huge drop in temp, went from -5 (high) to -35 (never mind the wind chill) planning on a return trip this year.

The lcbo at Summerhill received a skid last Friday by Saturday mid-day they were sold out again. The Northern Harvest rye is a nice rye no doubt about it but ive tried some amazing southern ryes this year that were more to my liking. It is worth the $32.00 price tag for a 26'r

Started out as a very beautiful day around 1*C when Bain & me head down the QEW for some river action. Arrive shortly after 7 am to a packed parking lot no biggie we head to the next one over. Start the long walk down, reach the bottom & the bowl is full. Not shoulder to shoulder but enough that with the space between guy's I ain't going to cram inbetween. Bain heads oneway & I the other. I've not fished Niagara a whole lot but enough & most days end in a zero column. Last year I broke that skunk finally with a nice Laker But other than that guy I've been putting up zero's. I do however love going there as the scenery is spectacular. When they turn the flow on & the rapids get intense to the current that changes every second it is a magical place. This day though, as the tourist season is mostly over the water would remain low & would drop even lower thoughout the day. The little spot where I caught the laker I call my own. Only once before has there been another guy fishing there when I was around, might not be the best hole but fish have to move through it at some point. I cast out & a few drifts later the fight is on. A smaller but respectable bow would put up a great fight all kinds of aerobatics, once in the damage could be seen, Ripped his mandible on one side and took the hook deep to the gills, one for the fry pan. A little time would pass & I hook up again, this time a much bigger fish. Fighting mad he would dart into the current & trying to pull him out is a war of attrition. He finally dove into some rocks when I had him best or so I thought, snapped off. Not long after I was on again with a similar results. I would end this day going 1 for 3 but by far my busiest day on this river. So what about the Whisky report, it's a bit of a running thing that I bring a bottle of something fishing, 95% of the time its a whisky of some sort. I see there are a few fans of the golden spirit on this forum & I don't profess to be a "expert" but I do enjoy it. For those not in the know Crown Royal just received "The Best Of 2015" by one of these experts that has spun the whisk(e)y world on it's head. The one I'm drinking is not the winner but it is a very nice sipping by the river whisky, I think the fish agreed with my choice. Rather pricey though, believe it about $100.00 at the LCBO
