  1. I was going to ask about any updates, hope it comes to an end soon
  2. I wish you'd called we would have turned the van around. Sorry if my sarcasm wasn't obvious but folks that steal crap are the lowest of the low & deserve whats coming to them. A stiff drink, next time I'll bring a FULL bottle...lol
  3. Seriously Man!!! Hopefully it gets resolved without incident. I though it was an awesome day even though your tent blew away (recovered), the auger wouldn't start right away & all others you've stated, looking forward to another one soon
  4. I can't speak on the fishing but a freind goes every year around that time & he's never complained about the fishing. Always had good luck but he doesn't target Trout so maybe thats where it differs
  5. Why not Algonquin Park? Google Jeff's Map (if you don't already know it) and go for it, can't be much more than 2 hours from Barrie
  6. Ya man I got myself a "toon" last year as well, although a bit different than yours. Normally I chase trout (small creek) through the summer. but last year I expanded that quite a bit. I put a 2.5 Merc on this thing & while nowhere near as portable as yours had allot of fun. Can't wait till soft water season, truth told I'm thinking of going to a Kayak (Hobie) though for next year
  7. Arctic Char Grayling Dolly Varden Pretty much any salmonoid species
  8. Looks like you & the wife had a blast, ya a Hobbie might be in the future plans. Don't know about the heat though I'll stick north!
  9. I saw an on-line price of $3000.00 but they are at the Sportsman Show so I'll check to see if that is correct
  10. Pretty neat idea, a buddy of mine has a Fold-a-boat or something to that effect but it is not as transportable as this thing
  11. Good stuff, love it when you find decent folk
  12. Sorry forgot to point that out, the one on Hwy 35 is the one I'm talking about
  13. Hey Folks Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting up with Chris Brock at his Gull Lake retreat for a little Laker action. I'm brand new to this forum but my fishing partner Sleepsjigging (I think thats correct) or as I call him Bain has been around awhile & is the reason for our meeting with Chris. Chris runs a small (2 man) ice shanty that he very graciously rents out for $20.00 per person which is a steal, not only because it's $20.00 but because you're getting all of Chris's years of expertise on Gull Lake to put you on fish, & put you on fish he does. Bain & I hit the lake around 8am-ish, load our gear into Chris's sled & he drags us out 3KM to his hut. It was a fantastic day temp wise so the hut wasn't needed but it has all the fixings you'll need & is well insulated, even a power auger to punch holes. From the very second the transducer hit the water we were marking fish, the rest now was up to us. A couple of strikes later Bain was on to his first which spit the hook after a short battle. A little while later Bain was on his second, up through the hole it comes, a nice under slot laker. Chris joined us in the afternoon, it turned pretty slow but thats life. A short time later one of Chris's freinds joined the party & he was literally minutes there & he had a strike, a rock bass but we'll take it. My day was starting to smell a little skunky as I had all but one decent strike, not for a lack of trying but you know those days happen, when all of a sudden there was a frantic looking mark on the finder, this Laker was like that drunk guy crusing for a fight. He zeroed in on my minnow & a short couple of minutes later he was on the ice, AWESOME. Not a big fella maybe 3LBS but I'll take it. He was in the slot, not that I would have kept him anyway but he slapped my hand as he darted back down the hole. Anyway I'm sure everyone who has ever met Chris will attest to his genuine personality & passion for fishing, I will no doubt recomend his little bussiness to anyone that will hear it. I'm not a big hard water guy but have through the years been to some other outfitters & no word of a lie Chris is tops, he's doing out of the love he has for fishing & not to become a rich man (obviously with the $20.00 price tag). I hope Bain will add photo's to this thread
  14. WOW.... Wayne, I don't know you & as I'm new to this forum all I can say is WOW. You, your daughter, your entire family shows amazing strength. I started reading this thread not realizing it has been 5 years/72 pages in the making but man I'm glad I did. Its taken a few days to get through & as one poster said at one point he was hesitant on opening the thread up for fear of the worse, extremely glad all's well at this point & the future looks great. I love triumph of the human spirit stories. Thanks Chris
