I suppose so. Sad stuff.

I'm gonna guess there's a serious lack of self awareness (amongst other things) going on with these morons.

Hadn't really thought about the force of planes dropping retardant before, but that kind of weight at high speed definitely has potential to do devastating things. Cool video.

I snapped a picture from my Backroads Mapbook and PM'd it to you. Good luck!

Took a look at the headlines, what do you mean not credible? The headlines all look totally legit to me!!! 🤣
-
Also, beautiful scenery. I've been eyeing this area up for a day trip.

That looks like the Deep Bay Road washout between Gull and Devil's.

We call it the Covid washroom

Good stuff, really nice result you got there. -
At the end of the day, it's just going to be what it's going to be. I live across the road from a police officer and his family (three kids between 10 and 14). Their house has been the local hub of activity for neighbourhood kids (not mine!) since mid April. Past three weeks have been business-as-usual, kids coming and going all day long, adult friends in and out. The sad thing is, that psychologically opened the door for everyone else in the neighbourhood to go and do the same thing. Next door neighbour? People over every day. Other side neighbour? He has a couple visitors that come and go. Backyard neighbours? Yeah, they're partying with people too. Meanwhile, I'm here with my three younger kids just keeping our heads down and letting it play out how it will. My Dad (70) had to drive to Barrie a couple weeks back, so he stopped by to say hello. We kept social distance, didn't even shake hands. You're either going to take it seriously or you're not, and let's hope that if you're not, that you're not going to **** us all over. Regarding working from home, been doing that for the better part of a decade now. The chance to watch my kids grow up, be around for all events, and not deal with the stress and expense of commuting is the best.

Yes, "the same way they handle the influx every summer". That'll play well with a contagious virus going around.

I dunno man, the toughest local thugs around there are all talk no action, lol.

My parents live in Gooderham, and there is one small store, Lucky Dollar, in the entire town. Every summer, when I'm up there to visit, the store is absolutely crammed with people who are visitors to the area. It will be very interesting to see how smalltown variety/grocery stores handle the influx of people..

I haven't been on Elephant in years, but I remember it as pretty shallow and weedy, and very stumpy. If you use the Ontario GIS mapping software, you can click 'Map Layers', un-check Assessment Parcel, and if you scroll over to Elephant, it shows it as being weedy pretty well all over. https://www.gisapplication.lrc.gov.on.ca/matm/Index.html?site=Make_A_Topographic_Map&viewer=MATM&locale=en-US

Many thanks, John. That's extremely helpful to my understanding.

I fired a lot of guns when I was younger, target practice, etc at my Dad's hunting camp and my cousin's cottage. I haven't kept up-to-date on firearms, and am unsure of how to interpret the list of banned firearms. Are most of these single/double shot (i.e. your standard hunting rifle style), or are they magazine-ready and capable of firing lots of rounds/minute? If so, are those magazine-capable guns a small subset of the newly-banned firearms? I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on this, but would appreciate an informed, unbiased interpretation. It's very hard to find a source of discussion that isn't political with people being hyperbolic. Thank you.

I appreciate good news like this when we're seemingly buried in bad news. Good stuff.

Suppose I'd be defensive too if my government dropped the ball so badly they're not even sure what sport they're playing anymore. Too busy playing political games to take things seriously.
-
Using government failings to justify doing things is one way to go about things, I guess. If you need to fall back on "Well they did/didn't, so why should/shouldn't I", I'd call that a reach.

So the idea is to police all of the ramps and question everyone there, then fine those who aren't fishing? That seems like a terrible use of resources in a time when we're battling a pandemic. This entire idea is amazingly short-sighted in the current climate.

"I actually see this is counterproductive as the alternative is to stay in your house and do nothing at all? How is this beneficial to our health?" Because it keeps people separate where they can't spread the virus. Perhaps you're Captain Awesome, and you won't cause any sort of problem. Unfortunately, there is a large population of asshats in the world, and exceptions to rules only grant them the ability to screw everything up. I read your petition. You're really reaching on a lot of the points you've listed.

Out of season Walleye nets man a $6000.00 fine
Ronzo replied to Old Ironmaker's topic in General Discussion
Out of season with barbed hooks. Guy must be a pretty lousy fisherman to have to cheat like that. Apparently own a construction company in Wisconsin with his name on it: https://www.wnasi.com/ -
Glad to hear it turned out OK. Scary situation for sure. Good job to take time and think rather than just going for it.

Man, these people must be the same ones who read 2 lines of a 12 line work email and reply "Yeah, got it". Then you realize, when you see the work they did, that they only read the first two lines. I don't see anything that confusing if you read the regulations start to finish. "Zone-wide seasons apply" is pretty straightforward.

You and me both. If I move, I'm filling the hole with ice and leaving it marked. I'm not big on drilling holes in perching grounds large enough for a kid to fall through. That said, I am also the kind of person to set up the hut, tell my kid(s) to stay by the hut, then go walk the area to make sure we're not fishing where someone with an auger larger than their common sense has been fishing.
