  1. Can someone explain to me why the salmon net my oldman and I have used for the past 15 years isn't any good?
  2. My eyes are sensitive to glare, most likely from staring at a computer screen for the last 14 years or so... I picked up a pair of Bolle Habu's for everyday use, but noticed on the really bright days on the water they work great. I am thinking of picking up a cheaper pair of polarized glasses with amber lenses for the not so bright days..
  3. Torpedo Divers, get down quick and stay there"
  4. If it's a small fish I'll lip it/grab it behind the gills, if it's a big fish (aka 5lb smally, big pike etc) I'll net it. I always net pickeral no matter what the size, along with salmon/trout.
  5. Really appreciate the reply guys!!! I just wish Navionics would give a little more detail into the maps, then just the views you get on their site. I don't think their HotMaps will work for me as they don't have any GBay content.. Which means I'll have to go with their Marine maps. The 500C is compatible with the Marine Gold maps, which covers all of the great lakes, the trent yada yada yada. Now, if you look at the Classic maps, they are sectioned off differently. One map does Gbay, down to severn... another map does Lake Ont, up to the severn.. My only concern is will the smaller maps of the Classic have more detail, then the overall bigger maps of the Gold? Ugh, perhaps I'll just call Navionics on the work phone and ask
  6. I've been doing quite a bit of reading over the last few weeks with regards to a GPS chartplotter. It would make a nice edition along with the new sonar I picked up for my dad last year (Humminbird 747c). There are quite a few to pick from.. I have been looking at the Eagle Intellimap 500/502c and now just recently some of the lower price (but still full screen) Garmin units.. What is really going to make my decision final is the quality of the map software available for these units. I know the Eagle units take Navionics, but aside from the differences between the Gold and Classic maps, I can't find out any information about the maps themselves. When I look at the maps available for the Garmin units, it looks like they blow the Navionic maps completely out of the water.. They also reference all the government maps used to create their own Garmin ones. So I dunno, if anyone runs these units, or any other units that could give me a recent review I'd appreciate it. It seems all the really detailed maps are only available for US waters.. I'd like to run around Gbay quite a bit this year, perhaps up into the Massassauga for a few days chasing muskie, and besides one of these being an additional safety tool, it will also help me concentrate on ideal fish locations.
  7. Luckily for me I rarely fish alone. I dunno what I would have done in that situation.. Most likely land the fish, put her in the bottom of the boat, snap a pic and let her go... Or leave her in the net and see if I could take a pic of her in the water... She would be let go either way, no reason to keep a monster like that.. Even if it was a world record, I'd dunno if I could ever get rid of the guilt I'd feel if I killed her.
  8. Roy, Completely offtopic question: What type of clearcoat do you use on the lures once you've applied the paint? (I've got some beat up Suicks that I'm going to play with before the season) BTW, floors look awesome, as do the baits!!!
  9. You could have a casting deck that would hold 4 people on there
  10. Lets get ready to rumble!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Did you try calling Le Baron's and asking? Not to be a smartass, but you probably would have had your answer by now
  12. I enjoy watching anyone catch fish, but some of the shows are extremely annoying... I gotta say, my fav would be The Musky Hunter, informative, to the point and no Bull... Plus, the hosts don't talk to you like you just finished grade school (Watch Bob Mehsikomer or Italo, you'll know what I'm talking about)
  13. Mike, you're not making the cabin fever go by any quicker with posts like this Nice fish!!!!!!
  14. Unless it's 80 degree's out and I have a nice place where she can lay out in front of the boat to sun tan, I don't even bother asking.
  15. Most likely a brownie.. When I used to live in St.Catharines, my oldman and I would use roe under floats for browns during this time of the year...
  16. Happy b-day Wayne! The email from your sister cracks me up Perhaps for her birthday, you should get her those bikes!
  17. Definitely in on this!
  18. That looks like fun!!! I wouldn't put a kid on there, but hell I'd get on one.
  19. I wouldn't worry to much about a pike. As it was mentioned before a decent grip behind the gill plates usually calms them down pretty quick. Keep your fingers away from the mouth, especially if it's still got the lure inside, they tend to thrash around pretty good when out of the water. If you can, leave it in the net as was previously stated, pull the hooks then get a quick pic. Good luck!!! If I get some free time this weekend I might head down and try my luck again.
  20. PSN ID is lnxguy
  21. Stoty: I play COD4 quite a bit online Excellent game. Infinity Ward is supposedly coming out with new maps in the spring sometime... Really looking forward to that!
  22. I'm using Spiderwire on my baitcast setup right now and gotta admit, I won't be using it again. Gets water logged pretty bad and faded horribly, the first 30ft of the line has gone from dark green to almost barf yellow... I used a fresh spool for my trip last thanksgiving to the French, so it maybe has 4-5 days fishing on it at most. I dunno if the Spiderwire Invisibraid is any better, as a few of the muskie legends on here have recommended it I think I am going to run PowerPro on my muskie setup and will probably re-spool the baitcaster with it also..
  23. I'm still playing the old PS2 Rapala Pro Fishing on my PS3 I'd love a new up to date fishing game for the PS3!!!
  24. That brook trout is to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a awesome looking fish!
  25. I have a hard time believing Wally World has bought counterfeit line.. Although I gotta admit, I would get a chuckle out of it. With the bulk amounts of products they buy at one time, perhaps they are passing on their savings to the customer?
