  1. Be careful of the regs, alot of tribs of the few popular rivers are no kill.. Gotta remember, killing a few fish out of a small creek could have a big impact, I personally would let them go.
  2. It's just a Temple Forks 2pc 4wt 8' combo I picked up at BPS. I think the entire thing with a bunch of flies was around $150 or so. The reel isn't very important, all it does is hold line Came ready to go with line, leader, etc... Nice little setup if you ask me, perfect for these little guys. I don't know what type of tippet Dave put on for me, but I would guess it was 2-3lb flouro.
  3. Definitely did a great job at pushing that goalie pad in I hope they meet Chicago, it would be one hell of a series.
  4. Fidel, it was a blast.. I've flyfished before (never with much success) so I wasn't a complete rube to how things work. It's nice when the fish co-operate though, especially the little guys. Barbless hooks led to all fish being released unharmed (accept for the one I almost ripped out of the water on my hookset, lol) I am sure he was a little shocked..
  5. Not many people making a living being a dockhand/guide. It's nice to dream, but it doesn't put food on the table.
  6. I forgot to add, those are ALL of Dave's fish. I was catching dink brookies and bows all night. The two big fish unfortunately came on artificals.
  7. Was fortunate enough to receive an unofficial fly lesson yesterday. I think I got the hang of it pretty quickly (less muscle, more form) and had an absolute blast for the 4hrs we were out. Let's just say the conditions were prime. No worries of tangled lines in trees (although it happened once or twice), the fish were eating up everything, and the weather actually co-operated... Thanks again Dave! It was a blast...
  8. That is definitely a gas guzzling combination
  9. riv.ca for all your importing questions...
  10. Gerritt, I always cover up, what else do I have to worry about? :D
  11. If you are fishing a big bait, you should probably be using a quick strike rig.
  12. Good job Anton!!! It only gets better from here on out!
  13. ...............found the old one. /wipes brow Wayne, after thinking that's exactly what I was going to do... (or get someone else to do)
  14. Well the bowmount is useless without the motor being locked down to the bracket. I have mysteriously misplaced the piece that's inserted into the bracket, through the motor then locked with a padlock. Minn Kota doesn't sell the pin separately, only the entire bracket. Can anyone come up with a way I can gerry rig this thing? Basically the motor sits on top of this bracket, the pin slides though and is locked. I think I need some Irishfield engineering or something Or if anyone knows where I can just pick up the pin itself.
  15. What is that thing, like 6lbs???? HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. If I am fishing pike on my everyday baitcast setup, I'll run a steel leader. If I am tossing big baits for pike/musky on my Compre/Abu setup then it's 50-80lb main line and 130lb flouro leaders.
  17. Eric, I'll take any roe donations you have :)
  18. I bet that trailer place makes a killing of selling OEM trailer bearings Who puts grease in their centerpin anyhow? I think 2-3 drops of sewing machine oil is about it. Bearing buddies have an automatic relief valve, so I dunno how you'd ever 'overfill' your axle with grease. Like I said, I've never replaced a bearing on a trailer when using these.
  19. You think it's out of season fishing that's killing the steelie population? lol Look at the regs where it says Zone 20, S - 5, there's your answer.
  20. I'm not going to say it, but I'm sure someone will
  21. I didn't think OOS fish could count as a PB Nice to know there are some nice bass in that lake with it being 5 mins away from the house.
  22. Don't scratch it Wayne, he cringed anytime we rubbed up against the rocks :)
