Bitsmith2k well said , (see guys some people can make their point with out calling me an ass*hole) I agree lots different me shareing with a friend or two than with the whole world . But when does it stop being mine , what did I pay for than if not the thing itself , to do as I like ??? -
Flipping :With flipping instead of the fish coming to you, you go to the fish. Flipping requires a longer, stouter rod say a 7 1/2 footer with heavy action,( lots of good rods out there Im sure most quality brands will have a line of flipping sticks) and a baitcasting reel spooled with 20 to 30 pound test line( again lots of good reels made by lots brands pick your fav). Using about a rod's length of line, with an additional 4 to 6 feet of line in your left hand, and with a pendulum motion, place your bait in a restricted area. As the bait starts forward, let the line in your left hand flow smoothly. This allows you to work cover and precise targets from 8 to 12 feet away. Once the lure is in the cover, raise and lower the rod tip and let the bait crawl up and over wood, rock, tree limbs, grass, pads or other obstructions. Repeated flips often incite a lethargic bass to bite. Constant contact with the lure is important in sensing the most delicate strike. Light, but steady, pressure gives you the feel of the lure in its swim and descent. Any interruption in the bait's travel should be interpreted as a strike. Immediately, reel most of the slack from the line, set the hook with a sweeping motion and prepare to move the bass away from the protection of heavy cover. Pitching:Pitching a lure from a distance is a great way to reach fish thought to be inaccessible. You can also reach largemouth that are easily spooked, or holding under overhanging cover, using a variety of baits. When correctly done, a pitched bait lands delicately, barely making a ripple, this take some pratice but you must land the lure with as little splash as possible. Silent entry and the action of the lure as it falls often results in an immediate strike. Pitching is ideal for fishing boat docks, undercut banks, overhanging tree lines, holes in lily pads, grass and any vegetation. Moreover, it's a deadly technique that works all season long early summer till fall. With patience, you can become proficient at pitching after some practice. It's unmatched as a way to trick bass. You can use a spinning or baitcasting rod both will work , preferably one with a faster, lighter tip , again we can argue about brands all day , I say pick out the one you like. It should be stout in the butt section to help with a solid hookset. Spinning gear is better used in shallow water and light cover situations. For big bass and heavy cover, baitcasting reels are a must. The additional length of a flipping rod is a disadvantage in pitching. For pitching Spinning rods can measure 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 feet long, casting rods 6 to 6 3/4 feet. I hope this helps, like was said these techniques take alittle pratice but get out there in the backyard for an hour or two and Im sure you will be hitting your targets with the greatest of ease ... tight lines B

Do what I do , I dont own a TV so my wife does not have a show lmao. Have not had a tv in the house since my son was born (it,s his 15 birthday on Sat.) I have never watched any of the shows I hear people at work and friends talk of , sienfield , american idol, survivor etc.etc. i have never scene one never wanted too , wish I had time to just sit back and do nothing , but with work ,the boats ,sons hockey and music ,guitar building , walks on the boardwalk with wife , we have sex we dont watch it , mostly in the house, but I do live in a city , I do enjoy the few spare moments I get to read but ,to just sit and watch ????? my friends all laugh at me and say I would like it if I would just look but so far I or should I say we because my wife and son dont watch either , are not interested ...So to answer your question What would I do if my wife wanted to watch a show , I would take her into a private room and put on a show , lol

Hammer it Was only one battle , and No Canadians fought in it , (me and mine were never British, not than not now lol we got all our teeth, French and Native) British losses in the war were about 1,600 killed in action and 3,679 wounded; 3,321 British died from disease. American losses were 2,260 killed in action and 4,505 wounded. While the number of Americans who died from disease is not known, it is estimated to have been about 17,000. These figures do not include deaths among American or Canadian militia forces or losses among native tribes

"That's wasabi. They serve it with Sushi" just fell out of my chair lmao

Thank you Big , A guy with the name BRUCE must know his history lol The war was ended by the Treaty of Ghent, signed on December 24, 1814 and taking effect February 18, 1815. The terms stated that fighting between the United States and Britain would cease, all conquered territory was to be returned to the prewar claimant, the Americans were to gain fishing rights in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and that both the United States and Britain agreed to recognize the prewar boundary between Canada and the United States. The Treaty of Ghent, which was promptly ratified by the Senate in 1815, ignored the grievances that led to war. Britain made no concessions concerning impressment, blockades, or other maritime differences; the treaty proved to be merely an expedient to end the fighting. Mobile and parts of western Florida remained permanently in American possession, despite objections by Spain, and Britain was unwilling to enforce treaty provisions regarding their claim to the territories. Thus, the war ended in a stalemate with no gain for either side.So the only loser, if ya want to call it that was Spain , because the US didnt return their territory as promised (guess the had their fingers crossed or some such thing)and Brition didnt care enough to make them live up to the treaty provisions .

Great shot of you sitting on the hill looking down the valley ...

lmao Doug looks like one guy had a little to much of GCD's maple syrup before the battle ...lol

NO ONE WON ..lol ahhhhhh!!! ya guys should stick to fishing lol and it really wasnt much of a war when you compare it to what we call war now . After two years of warfare, the major causes of the war had disappeared. Neither side had any reason to continue or any chance of gaining a decisive success which would compel their opponents to cede territory or advantageous peace terms. As a result of this stalemate, the two nations(Briton and US) signed the Treaty of Ghent on 24 December 1814. I think becase of no cell phones or internet back than it took a few months for the americans to get the news of the treaty signing , so the fighting continued and the americans won a major victory at the battle of New Orleans but that occured after the treaty was signed so it dont count , NO ONE REALLY WON no reason to continue

Sorry BUt I did know it was not port hope in the picture some people can recognize scarcasim when they see it lol . I thought we were talking about the zoo at port hope ,not the picture that I thought was a great CARTOON Representation of the mess I see at port hope most weekends . I live in TO still , but i have bought a new house in Brockville and comute there every Fri and return Sun so i pass by port hope 7-8 times a month on my way there and back. I have tried a few times ,late and early , to wet a line there as I have lots of old memories of fishing there with my dad , and its just way way to crowded . I also think as someone else said its because its one of the few spots where there is easy access , for all , the experenced steal guys can walk the streams, find pools by them selves etc. ect. but where does the weekend guy , the wheel chair guy ,the newbe even the guy with bad back go ????? we need more access to our wters for these people so the crowds can thin out

Giveing my age away but I remember when you could fish in port hope and have the place to yourself most days , what a zoo is right ...
