Mercury bit off ALOT the past few yrs buying up boat line after boat line,I heard a rumour thru a dealer they my be dropping a complete line up of engines time will tell for all these companys

these work amazing and have saved my butt countless times ,these are Snap on but im sure Craftsman ,C tire ,maybe even Husky has a knock off version now,find the socket that fits with lil interferance tap it on and easy as that its coming off

congrats had mine for a long time now back in 2000 when I wrote the test my buddy sat beside me copied me check for check and we both walked away with our cards,now my Boss is telling me we need Commercial versions to drive the work boats ahhhh where to put all the paperwork

spraying carb clnr into your carb will well do almost NOTHING,it will clean the throat of the carb basiclly if ya wanna do something get some BRP/OMC Carbon guard for your fuel and get your self a can of BRP/OMC engine tuner and follow the directions on the can ,you will not belive the poop that will come out of your engine the next day,put in new plugs after the clean out and it will run a lot better,if your gonna use carb clnr (engine tuner) is the nuts for this, remove the carb dissasemble and let it soak overnight reassembly with maybe a new needle/seat for idle quality and few bucks in new gaskets and your all set

if ya need a good anchor for your dock @ camp,maybe after a good degreasing naaaa that ole OMC would still be to light unless your in a sheltered bay

HAHA yep a few yrs back I was buying outboards off Temagami marine 20-30 a yr all the damaged or blown up now it did ent matter if they where 2004 or 1952 Bill made me take them all he said you aint takin the cream puffs and leavin me with that JUNK ,look buy the boat Gerrits got a real nice clean newer 9.9 in the B@S your all set,do not spend money on that dinasour its $$$ you will never get back

Happy B day man thats a big step I got in LOTS of trouble back in that area of my life ,have a good one

A leak down test is your best bet and way more comprehensive then a compression test,if the motor start idles smooth and runs to its max WOT without any issues theres no need for either,I only do a compression test if the motors really running like crap after fuel and other issues have been checked

Listen if you pull the plug caps and let them hang you run the risk of damaging the CDI/POWERPACK/SWITCHBOX whatever term ya wanna use,shut the key OFF ,pull the tether off ,take out the plugs put them BACK in the plug caps let them hang there off to the side and do you test,if ya gotta look this poop up on the internet,bring it to some one who knows whats goin on

Motor is JUNK tell him to keep it and buy the boat, offer him 200.00 ,fix it paint it and get yourself a newer 9.9/15 and a used trailer
