  1. I am getting so sick of looking at your ugly mug in these reports!!! ... when is the lovely Miss Laker Jesse going to start fishing again??? I thought they outlawed those old clip stringers like that?.. where did you get it?... at an antique store??? Congrats on the PB Pike BTW!!!
  2. So ashamed of the baby fish as not to take any pics?!!!... you'd have to stand on a step ladder to kiss team #1's butt!!!
  3. I use the improved clinch knot with both mono and braid and never have a problem! If you are used to using a baitcasting reel, then you shouldn't have any problems with braid on it... but as mentioned above, I'd go with a 40# or more test. The difference between a good fisherman and a bad fisherman is that the good fisherman can always untangle his backlashes, a bad fisherman will either cut the line or throw the reel overboard! The difference between a good fisherman and a great fisherman is... a great fisherman never gets a backlash! I'm just a good fisherman!
  4. Excellent report and pics Holdie!!! Congrats on both of those PB's! I tweaked your Pike pic a little trying to get a better look at it: My guess is between 15-18 lbs... maybe 20? Thanks for taking the time to post that report!
  5. Only 30-some-odd-days 'til the tallywhacker run in Talledega... gawd I dread it!!!... what chaos!!! Maybe some day a "Hoser" will head down this way for the race and I can show them my favorite fishin' spot... not the dam, nowhere near the dam!!!
  6. I'll give you a shout the next time I find one, so you can come over and kill it with your bad punctuation and capitalization.
  7. Holy Crap!!!.. I didn't even realize it! Thanks for announcing that Mike ... remind me to put you in a the next time I see you! I live to abuse and be abused!!! The more you suffer, the more it shows you really care!!!
  8. I really like that "Hoser Hat" Mike!!!
  9. Excellent report, pics, vids, and fish Mike!!! That is truely a trophy Bass for northern waters!!!... and good on you for releasing, her to keep her in the gene pool!!! You have her address and maybe you can catch her again when she gains another pound or two! Thanks for taking the time to post that wonderful report!!!
  10. Pretty much true... but I did embellish a bit! 1. I don't know if I was really screaming... but I sure was thinking it!!! 2. I don't know if the Cricket was really laughing, but it sure looked like it when he was wiggling on his back! 3. I never really left the yard It was all pure adrenaline Steve!!! That part was very true!... I was wearing it for protective/safety purposes ONLY!!! I might do more work by accident than you do on purpose Holdie! ... and the drinking doesn't start until the work is done.
  11. Excellent report, pics, and fish Steve!!! Amazing to be able to see the rocks on the bottom when it's that windy, most lakes would be muddy. That Georgia boy looks a little colder than the rest of y'all... I have the same problem when I travel to the Great White North too!
  12. Excellent report, pics, and fish Erik!!! Glad to see you got out on the water, and even better to see you had a great day!!! You can PM me the tourney pic or just post it to our discussion thread in the tourney section!!! Thanks a Bunch for that entry!!!
  13. So I'm planting grass seed and covering it with wheat straw. The bales of wheat straw I'm using are a couple months old and have been sitting at the curb of the slopes in my yard to prevent the tilled soil from washing into the road when we get heavy rain, errosion control. These straw bales are wet on the bottom and in the middle, they have every critter native to this area in them... fire ants, a dozen different types of spiders, millipedes, crickets, slugs, wasp nests, and I even found a couple of Leopard frogs underneath them. I had been moving them periodicaly to till and shape where they were sitting, so I know what's in and under them. I wear a pair of heavy welding gloves when I have to handle them for protection. Well yesterday it was time to start using them to cover the grass seed, I put them in a 10 cubic foot yard cart that I pull behind the garden tractor and cut the baling twine and bust them up with a pitch fork... and them spread the straw over the seed. Most of the critters bale out when I start putting them in the cart and the rest leave while I break them up with the pitch fork. I had moved all the bales to where I was going to use them and was getting ready to bust one up when I catch a glimpse of something out of the corner of my right eye, dangling from the bottom of the cart half way to the ground about 6" from my leg! I bent down for a closer look, and yep!!! Black Widow Spider!!! I dispatched it with one of my heavy welding gloves and sent it to Spider heaven! So now I'm busting up this bale, and not 4 minutes after killing the BWS I catch a glimpse out of my left eye of black crawling on the left shoulder of my white t-crap!... I instantly soiled myself!!! Then I did what any true Arachnophobe would do... I freaked out big time!!! I started running, and swatting, and jumping, and hopping, and crying, and screaming "PLEASE DON'T BITE, PLEASE DON'T BITE ME... I DON'T WANNA DIE I DON'T WANNA DIE", and all the while thinking "IT WON'T COME OFF, IT WON'T COME OFF!!! WHY THE HELL WON'T IT COME OFF??? Then after what seemed like an eternity I dislodged Satan's Little Purveyor of Death and caught a glimpse of black fly off my left shoulder on onto the ground and stopped freaking out. I then approached the little Hell Spawn Demon with murderous intent... I looked down and it was... a danged ol' black Cricket!!! ... laying on his back kicking all of his legs in hysterical laughter! ... Yeah it wasn't so damn funny when he tasted the bottom of size 10 hiking boot eh!!! So I lit up a cigarette and started looking around and realized I couldn't see my house???... because... I had run about a half mile down the road in my Arachnophobic induced hysteria... it took me 10 minutes to walk back home! I hope nobody saw me!
  14. You never really know unless you go!!! You could load the boat... or get a skunk! That's fishing!!!
  15. Happy Birthday and Best Fishes to Paul!!!
  16. Excellent report, pics, and fish Joey!!! It breaks my heart to read these reports because I don't think I'm going to be able to make it up there this year. .. but I really do appreciate you taking the time to write these wonderful reports!... Thanks!
  17. Did you have a bad taste in your mouth when you woke up from the surgery Mike? A buddy of mine had that same procedure done and said when he woke up from the surgery he noticed a rag on the table with feces on it... he asked the what it was and she said the surgeon didn't have enough light to see what he was doing so they shoved a light up his rectum and threaded it all the way up into his throat! It took a couple weeks to recover from the surgery.. dunno if he'll ever recover from the light deal though!
  18. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama is a nice place, very quiet at that time of the year too. It may be a little cooler than you'd like but they do have some real nice days in January and February. It will be inexpensive as well! The saltwater fishing is great for big Bull Redfish at that time of year too!!!
  19. I'm sure she'll be a beauty when you get her fixed up Bernie!!!
  20. No wonder you hear Banjo music all the time Art... what with all that pig squeeling going on... or is that really a pig that's doing all the squeeling???
  21. You'll also need the transom "all-around" light and an anchor.
  22. Nice fish Splashy! I weigh my fish in the net, hook the scale on the metal ring/frame... my net weighs 15 ounces, so I subtract 1 pound.
  23. Great pics and some really nice fish!!! Good friends and good fishing make for excellent memories!!! Be careful fishing barefooted like that, I imagine a hook in the foot would be pretty painful.
  24. Excellent report, fish and pics Pikeie!!! So guide means boat driver?
