The part about Mr. timmeh post I didn't like was his failure to capitalize the U,S, and A in U.S.A... I'm sure he wouldn't like it if I spelled Canada like this canada It ticked me off to have to write it that way, let alone look at it... and I'm only Canadian by marriage!!! He also decided to paint the whole U.S. with a Cajun paint brush, something I find highly offensive!!! We only let the Cajuns stay down here in the Deep South so the folks from Mississippi will have someone to look up to and because they make us Alabama Rednecks look smarter than we actually are. ... don't get me wrong, I like the Cajuns... they're some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet, they'll give you the shirt off their backs, and they sho'nuff know how to Party! (Mardis Grais) (.)(.)... they just aren't the brightest candles on the Birfday Cake. The rest of Mr. timmeh's statement clearly showed that he really didn't know what he was talking about. A hurricane in New Orleans wouldn't be something you would try to survive... it is something you flee from!!! That's why they call it a mandatory evacuation... for people that are too stupid to know when to leave! Here's a little cross section I found of the city of New Orleans: Yes New Orleans is a valuable shipping port, is it a good place for one?... no... not really. Here's an article I found a little disturbing for the folks that might think they'd like to stay and tough out a hurricane in N.O. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26444204/ I really do hope that all the Gulf coast residents learned their lesson with Katrina and they'll all evacuate so there won't be any lose of life... material things can be replaced, a human life cannot!

Congratulations on your first Musky Ad.!!! It just goes to show ya, if you futz around on the water long enough... you'll eventually catch something larger than normal!

I asked your water type preferance because your options are many and varied. I have spent several years down there (cumulatively) working different construction jobs. Here are a few. Freshwater: 1. Fishing the drainage canals in the Everglades on either the Tamiami Trail or Alligator Alley (2 major highways connecting the west coast to the east coast). These canals contain big Bass, Bowfin, Tilapia, Oscars, Picu, Gar and many more! 2. Lake Okeechobee isn't that far away, you can rent anything from a little tinny to a fully rigged Bass boat. Just fishing the ring canal around the lake can be an experience. 3. Fish any drainage canal/ditch along any road... you'll be surprised what you can pull out of those things! Saltwater: 1. Drift/Party boats go out for 4 hr. trips and they're cheap (prolly $30 a head now), you go out 3-5 miles with 20-30 other folks and fish for King Mackeral, Sailfish, Barracuda, and even have a chance of catching a White Marlin among other things. All bait, tackle, and licenses are included in the price. 2. Public beach fishing piers, these are fun especially at night! Fish for Snapper, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, Sharks, Tarpon, Snook, and much more... the "people watching" can be as fun as the fishing! 3. Bridge and Mangrove island fishin' down around the Keys is also a blast if you have the time. The same type fish as mentioned above. A word of caution: When driving around down there, stick to the main roads. I 95, U.S. 1, and A1A (beach road) North and South, and 4 lane roads East and West. Traveling 2 lane streets east and west can put you in some less than desireable neighborhoods just a short 2 blocks west of U.S. 1 (you won't be able to get out of there quick enough!) If you see a woman hitch hiking on U.S. 1 or A1A, she doesn't really want a ride...she wants to...uh... sell you "something"... Car windows up and doors locked!

They actually need to be spending their gun money on gasoline, bus, and AMTrack tickets... to get the hell out of there! Hurricane Katrina was just a glancing blow last time, a direct hit and it's going to hard to use those guns underwater! Living in a bowl shaped city with most elevations below sea level and surrounded by water and the Gulf of Mexico is not a good thing during hurricane season. ... bend over, spread'em, and try to relax your New Orleans... here comes another colon cleansing!!!

Fresh salt or both?

Fish dredged in in flour seasoned with garlic salt and pepper.. makes for a very light coating. Peanut oil so hot it will ignite a match when dipped in it. Deep or pan fried.
