  1. Sir, you are a master at story telling. Love your reports .... I have never had the opportunity to experience fishing like you describe. Just hoping to be able to sign up for something like that next spring. Thanks again.

  4. Thats a hilarious story .... I can relate I had the same type of experience except with one of those large dock spiders crawling up the arm of a chair I was sitting in on my buddy's dock ... never jumped so fast in all my life ..LOL the thing was the size of dinner plate !!! ... well ok maybe the size of toonie
  5. ahh yes I agree ... when I was a young whipper snapper ... I spent my hard earned money on all those gimicky lures as well, still got em though .... gotta admit that banjo minnow worked , but so did a hook and a worm ...LOL Now i have setup a separate tackle box for my son with all those lures ... LOL , he doesn't mind using them remember "lures are designed to catch fisherman first"
  6. That was amazing and thanks for taking the time to write such a great trip log. You write very well, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  7. thanks to everyone so far .... i've been reading up on all your recommendations and googling the equipment... won't really know until i have one in my hands this may sound like a stupid question ... but .... I have always used a left handed spinning reel, and i have tried a left handed baitcaster ..... is this the preferred choice ... to stay with the same left handed reel even though the right handed bait caster feels normal as well also do you line it with mono first then braid ? thanks
  8. Hello All, after many years of spinning reel fishing, i really would like to buy a bait caster rod and reel not too expensive <$150 reel ... preferably <$100 rod <$75 my friend suggested Abu Garcia - revo .... but they are pretty expensive something that might be considered an average all purpose setup , I know it takes a some practice as i have used them before but never bought one of my own ........ fish species would be bass , walleye and pike thanks for any suggestions

  15. my vote is for Haliburton .... beautiful town ...lots of lakes to fish, beautiful landscape close to Algonquin Park not as pretentious as the muskokas ... at least not yet ... view overlooking the town of Haliburton around thanksgiving weekend
  16. Leechman... one of the guys cleaned a ling .. they took the meat off the top of the back, they say it tastes like lobster, and yeah that is one ugly looking ling with the bulging eyes Moosebunk... , i came by your cabin and asked for ya but you were inside .. you guys had come back from ....., your friends said they caught some pickeral and some oos big bass in the 6 winters up there that was the toughest fishing for us, but like you say the trip is also about sharin some good times with the guys, I would like to try and get up there in the spring
  17. Sorry for the delay getting our trip to Temagami posted … but the fishing for us was not that great. We left Wednesday Feb18th at 2:00 am and were at the hub by 7:30 with a stop in North Bay for some Timmy’s coffee. Bruce from Tamar picked us up as he figured the weather conditions were going to deteriorate over the next few days… boy was he right. It snowed and blowed solid until Saturday morning .. with the first sunshine peaking out on Saturday. All in all ,out of 4 of us we caught 4 lakers ,3 whitefish ,2 lake herring and countless numbers of ling. Interestingly enough all the lakers were caught on spreaders … we were targeting whitefish but the lakers were hitting them. Whitefish were around 3 lbs The biggest laker 5lber was caught on the bright sunny Saturday… perhaps the weather really had something to do with it ! The picture of the ling was late a night in the hut and it was 5lbs 3 ounces …the biggest one I have ever seen … it’s a beauty picture LOL Here are few pics that might be worthy of posting … Waiting for our pickup Mod made to my Hummingbird ... thanks Irishfield laker on the spreader and my homemade fish cradle, great for quick measurements whitey tipup setup , caught 1 whitey, caught the rest on jigging buddy's laker drillin some holes, Jeff's dog loved it last but not least our favorite ,,, the ling shot
