  1. When after checking one of the other boards, I have no doubt the guy reporting it is telling the truth, it was a van now sitting under 10 FOW.
  2. If I understand it correctly, that company provides products to 17 of the 20 brands out there, anyone know which brands are not affected?
  3. Maybe they would brake through on shore, I was out this am, 18 inches on Cooks Bay. But, I'll add the only thing I drive out there is the 6x6.
  4. I was out this morning off Gilford, an honest 18 inches of clear hard ice, no more slush or snow. If you go, either wear skates or golf shoes, slick like pike.
  5. Oh gawd...now you're telling me that after driving on 3/4 or 1 Ton drive axles for about 35 years that they are no good, what about all the 1/2 ton truck drive axles that have bearings that are lubricated with what....I can't hear you, yes oil. Whats the likelyhood of blowing a seal going down the highway anymore with an oilbath type or greased bearings. Tybo...where are you TYBO, your opinion please.
  6. Lorissa; next time hubby needs boots, come around to this side of thelake at the Cookstown outllet mall 89&400, and go in there to see Heberts, it's a shop for boots and shoes and I doubt you'll leave empty handed.
  7. Part of the mathematical problem with "deals", is that no one includes the price of travel/parking/lunch to the price of whatever you're buying, so unless they practically give you what you're looking for, there are no deals. It's much cheaper to go to any of the stores and buy it outright. If you want to go there and browse without buying, then that's entertainment.
  8. Ya, nothing wrong with bullheads, clean them by spiking them to a board, circle the body with a sharp knife to score the skin, grab the skin the pliers and gently pull back. Knock out the innards and there you go, dust in flour, fry in butter.
  9. Too bad that licence isn't a bit clearer, might point to a place to stay away from...something about banjo's.
  10. Jeez, I think Wayne is probably too old now to eat that laker after having to read all that...
  11. On aluminum foil, long enough to fold over and seal all around in the following order layered from the bottom up: Aluminum foil, spray with pam, 1/4" thick onion slices, skinned side down l/trout fillet, lemon pepper, 1/4" thick slices of tomato, a plop of butter on top, fold over aluminum and seal remaining 3 sides, on med hot BBQ for 20-30 minutes, or in the oven at 350 for 20-30 minutes, depending on size.
  12. Sorry Cisco, but your opinion or speculation as you call it doesn't count when it comes to facts. Ask a few of those that suffered because they listened to someone who didn't know. Check with the vehicle MFGR when it comes to towing. I've said enough on this one.
  13. No, at that speed, distance covered vs reaction time of the driver does not equate to have enough distance to execute a change of direction, therefore a crash is inevitable.
  14. Yes, most of the time towing capacity is listed as an empty vehicle with one 150lb driver, so if you add boat, motor, trailer, fishing equipment and boating equipment, add one or two guys, he will be well beyond the limit. He listed the boat and motor at 765lbs + trailer(300 lbs), he's over. So, like GCG said, stopping is far more important than the capability of getting going. He might drive like a normal person, but it can be the other idiot on the road than can force evasive action and cause a crash. So when that happens, who will pay for his repairs, the people here that advocate he's good to go, I really doubt it, they'll be the first to slink away and hide.
  15. Sorry but most of those "automatic" chargers, aren't quite that "smart". As for being down 1.5l of water, you might have rescued it it time. The automatic charger charged long and strong and basically evaporated the water out of the battery by over gassing. If you want a charger that can be left alone for 6 months at a time then get a Battery Minder or Battery Tender from VDC electronics.
  16. The ice is thick enough, but with the crusty snow cover, there are areas that is is very difficult to move, and, not so much getting on, but getting ack off the ice, some pressure cracks along the shore lines have gone up about 6 feet high. Gilford has a spot you can sneak through, but don't count on it remaining like that. When it warms up, the ice expands...goes up and heaves and can leave you stranded.
  17. A couple of baby carriage size wheels, an axle and 2x4 long enough to go under the boat, a length of bungy cord and you're off to the race. Remember that larger diameter wheels run easier on rough ground.
  18. Sure there's a way out, it's called the nitwit clause for signing up to something outrageous and he should get a smack upside the head with a frozen carp. You have an early cancellation penalty clause, if you don't read it before you sign, then maybe you shouldn't have signing authority. Companies don't try and recruit potential customers because they're nice companies, they want to make money at your expense.
  19. 1.980" axle dia. Might be worth the effort t ogo to a real bearing shop like Canadian Bearing or similar and ask for some real NorthAm or European bearing, Timken, SKS, some things are acceptable in life and will get you from A-B, but cheap bearings don't make me feel fuzzy.
  20. 7:20 am and the wind has really picked up in the last hour, could get gusts up to 90k/mh, now I suppose I'll end up with the neighbours snowbank in my driveway..
  21. And the worst part, there's no cure for any of those diseases and they are contagious.
  22. You're right about that, for the price you can't go wrong, had one for about a year now, makes a great 3rd and 4th hand. Even the cheap 9.99 folding sawhorses are worth it.
  23. You'll have no problem renting that out if you're close to the college.
  24. That's a decent catch of slabs, sweet meat.
