  1. Legally to claim it, you must call the MNR, report a deer strike, they will send you a letter that gives you authority to possess the road kill.(Sort of like a tag). At the same time call the local police, they will or should give you a file number for reporting it that will give proof of an accident should the MNR question it. I've done it a number of times. Then comes the 10 minute job of dressing it, finding a safe place to hang it, slice, dice, bag and tag it for the freezer. I'm sure one of the "neighbouring" OFNers would give you a hand for a burger or two.
  2. Go to Flesherton, take Grey Rd 4 east to Grey Rd 13 north, keep an eye right for Canrobert St, turn right, down the road, park and launch on the left, be prepared to pay, $10 the last time I was there a few years ago. Check google maps, you'll see the open white spot, it's the parking lot. The straight line above it is the dam.
  3. Go get yourself a set of Michelins, either the LTX AT2 or MX2, last a looong time. As for BFG, good for wheelbarrows.
  4. Take a close look at the tailfin with the picture expanded, does nobody else see the spots on the lower half of the tail?
  5. I don't find it all that bad, just a different method here. Go to the link, register or if you use Photobucket or others, copy the "http" and then paste into the one, second to the right of the smilie. http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=help&do=01&HID=18 And here's the OFC photo gallery where you upload your photos. http://www.ontariofishing.ca/media/index.php
  6. A tad frosty out this morning, glad I brought the thermos, should have brought gloves ttttooooo, brrr. Went down to the local river, 2nd cast bang, salmon on, 15 seconds salmon off. Slurp of coffee, lets try this again, after 1/2 an hour, second hit, dang, not a good hook up, spit the lure back at me again. Ah well had some action and fun. Slurp some more coffee, as I climb the hill, I find the grass is frosted over and quite slippery. Back home, now it's time to tackle the trailer and get it closed up for the cold months.
  7. Coffee will be on at 0500, eggs and toast at 0515, flush, dress and off to the river at 0530.
  8. You forgot the X67C or was that by reason that once you have one, then the rest aren't all that great?
  9. Foreign ownership(without naming any to keep the peace) have a bad habit of ploughing up the land for their profit and then leaving destruction behind. Why don't they ruin their own country.
  10. Have you checked the marine forecast..
  11. Wonder if they closed because there were no more fish at cheap prices.
  12. Keswick eh...
  13. You aren't the only one that does this.
  14. Appears to be wearing waders, maybe he walks around with both hands inside his waders holding his....
  15. When there's a 12" cast frying pan in the wifes hand when you are trying to sneak out or back in, you know you have reached the point of excess. I'm going to lend the neighbours wife my frying pan, his yard needs a healthy dose of maintenance instead of him blowing on a musical instrument.
  16. Ah the ATV box. Mines still sitting on the top shelf in the garage, little too early to hook it up to the ATV. Mine is just a plain rectangular box 40" long, 14" high and 14" wide made of 3/8th ply. The inside corners are reinforced with 1"x 1" hardwood, glued in. A couple of healthy sized strap hinged for the lid. The auger lays on top, the motor end has 1 support that is machined from hardwood to hold the handle, 1 right by the gearbox at the joint and 1 "U" shaped bracket at the auger end. One ratchet strap holds the auger on top, it doesn't move. The box itself is bolted down with 1/4" stainless bolts and nyloc nuts with large fender washers inside the box. My rack on the back has 6 pre stamped holes, worked perfect. It holds most of the fishing equipment. I have an oversized "milk crate on the front, bolted down, it's for the minnow bucket and heater. Some day I may build another, if you go with wood, I would strongly suggest to go and see the 7/16ths"(11mm) Birch ply at Home Depot, they have it in smaller 2'x4'and 4'x4' pieces, not expensive and finished both sides. This stuff doesn't splinter like regular GIS ply or PT, and paints very well. For glue I would use Gorilla Glue, excellent stuff, once dried it becomes waterproof.
  17. If not at MTO, then go to the local police and have them run a history on the vehicle, it can be done.
  18. Well I'm sure you can't put the fuel line on backwards, the tank and motor have completely different ends, rules that out. On some it's possible the motor end of the fuel line can be flipped 180 degrees, you thought you had it on right but it wasn't. The float could have got stuck while the motor was lying on its side during transport, that won't allow any fuel into the float bowl. At least it runs now.
  19. It will work, however if it's a regular lead acid, be careful about spillage. That's why there's gell cells.
  20. Like Roy said, the inner unit that holds the bulbs slides out from the bottom. Look close you will see the tab you have to press to get it to disengage. First time for me I was getting closer to the hammer as frustration was increasing, now it's a 2 minute job to replace the bulbs when they burn out. Oh, and you don't have to take out the bolts that hold the assembly to the trailer frame.
  21. I left out the plethora of vulgar expletives from my son and myself, non of course directed at the other driver who was jibbering on his cell phone on the side of the road. A Golf has about 6 or 7 inches of road clearance, the damm universal of the truck was about 9 inches in diameter..and pretty solid.
  22. Ya, but if you use the F/F frequently, then your idea of D cells falls far short. I've got a couple of Gell cells that are 20+ years old, still going strong, I think I would be poor buying D cells, not to mention filling up the dump with something that's not reusable. A 12V7A gell with charger is probably less than 2 refills of D cells.
  23. I "ran into" a similar fate about 2 years ago, going east on the 401 just past the DVP, see a transport pulled over about 1/2 a km ahead, next thing, what the hell is that in the middle of my lane, ka..whump, get some air with the car, pull over, look back. It's the damm univeral joint off the transport truck tractor and the jackshaft is laying over a bit further. Steering is kinda off center, no bad noises or otherwise. Talk to the driver of Hindu TPT, pretty much the Mississauga junkpile transport companies, most of the stuff or the drivers shouldn't be licenced. Anyway, long story short, if you hit something already on the roadway, it's deemed your fault. Cost me $2200 to have the transmission mounts replaced, most of the steering components and a few other small things. The insurance would cover it under collision, but, they have long reaching screwdrivers..hint.
  24. Salmon fillet covered with Frito Lay Ranch dip, fried Yukon Gold potatoes, all on the BBQ, and the other white stuff is the wifes veggies. She said it was good, the other half will be for lunch tomorrow.
  25. IMHO, if you're running 80lb line, (don't care if it's braid, mono or dental floss), then there's something wrong with your set up. I've caught my fair share of brutes over the years and the highest I've ever gone is 20lb XT. I've only experienced a couple of break offs at the end of the season, usually when their teeth cut the line, a short 6" leader will fix that. Only one thing I forgot, it's possible the fish was foul hooked, in the tail or back, then it's almost a sure thing that even a small fish can spool you.
